       Getting a cotton quilt fresh scented without a abundance of
       sprays

       My mom has a gorgeous cotton quilt she adores. My brother was
       visiting and without asking took the quilt and slept with it. He
       hadn't showered (don't ask) and the freshly washed quilt now has
       a "body odor" veil on it.
       Is there a way to effectively "freshen" quilt without febreeze
       or perfume?? She (believe or not!) abhors perfumes.
       Thank you for any help you can offer!

       Try hanging it up outside on the washing line for a few hours,
       see if that gets rid of the smell.
       I would probably just wash it on a cold gentle wash though, if
       it's cotton.

       I agree with hanging it in the sun....sunlight contains ozone
       which I believe removes odors.  Not too long though, if it is
       delicate.

       I'd hang it in the shade, see if that helps. If it's a
       handmade/heirloom quilt you want to keep it out of the sun.
       Sunlight causes fading and other damage. But yes, "sunlight is
       the best disinfectant" so you could certainly give that a try.
       If it's not handmade, old, or very valuable, just wash it in
       cold water with mild, unscented detergent and let it hang dry.
       I'm a quilter, that's what I'd do.
