Natural Musk Oil

I have a bottle of natural Musk Oil,that was given to me by a
nice The Bank of England,she had it for years and never used it;
It's dark in color and has an unusual scent,not even close to
contemporary synthetic musk,that we are used to.
I am wondering-what to do with it? Is it safe to apply it on
bare skin?What does it mean -"NATURAL''?Sounds
scary,considering the origins of natural musk...It was bottled
in N.Y.
