The most modern fragrance note

When this note enters the composition, fragrances become modern.
I think this is Iris. What do you think?

Ambroxan. This is the new trend in modern perfumery.
Iris does not always give a modern vibe.

I think oud. I'm seeing it everywhere, and it feels like all of
a sudden!

It is my understanding that Oud has been around for a long time,
though it has a breakthrough in the designer realm (probably
there's synthetic ouds with greater quality now)!
I'd say the trendiest notes today are: Iris, Ambroxan, Oud and
Tonka... there's some that are adding Pear but can't say it's a
trend

there's at least 2 kinds of iris note: a powdery one and a kinda
wet one for lack of better description. Iris has been around for
decades, I guess you just can't generalise and say everything
iris smells modern..

Surprised no one mentioned incense yet >:(. After Bleu de
Chanel was released I definitely noticed more and more
fragrances with incense in them.
Right now I'd say ambroxan is the current trend though. 8)
