[Debate] No guardian = No maw fractals on 48+

All these while we've been doing lvl 48 FOTM, I have not yet
seen
a situation where we survive maw's agony without a guardian.
This is because a guardian has 1 skill..... 'Tome Of Courage'
For those non-guardian players or doesn't know what the skill
does,
the skill basically allows you to chant a spell where your HP
will be healed
back to 100%.
So during maw's agony, even if your AR is 45, you will still die
at maw 48,
because maw's agony will still deal 125% of your total HP.
The trick is when the maw's agony reduces your HP to 25%, you
use the tome
of courage to fully heal your HP before it sucks away the rest
of your HP.
The question here is, can we actually defeat maw at fractals 48
WITHOUT
a guardian? Debate starts now!
===============================================================
Rules of Debate;
- Please keep it OBJECTIVE
- Please keep it TECHNICAL
- No swearing
- No bashing
(Strictly LOGICAL argument, no emotions involved)
Do not support a class just because you play that class
or do not bash that class just because you hate the class.
Just remember that in the end, we're trying to find the best way
to clear a stage using any creative methods we can come up with!
That's the entire purpose of this debate!

This is entirely incorrect. A ranger with Spirit of Nature can
keep all players alive during the agony phase in 48 on players
with 45AR. I exclusively play ranger on high level fractals and
have personally done this and it works.

Thanks to the new ascended weapons, as long as you have 55AR,
you'd no longer needed healing as well in FOTM48!
(At least this rule still applies when I post this, not sure
what would happen in the future)

I don't think this is valid at all, with respect to healing.
Support is one of those things in the game that if everyone
brings a little, it can amount to a lot. And if people bring a
lot, then you have a ton. Although not popular, a warrior
traited and geared into healing power can heal easily over 3000
HP per shout, and with 3 shouts that over 9000 healing. That by
itself might seem not as much for a warrior's high HP, but for
classes with lower HP, that's a good chunk of health returned.
In addition, Healing Surge also returns over 12,000 to the
warrior, which would amount to over 21,000 health returned. In
other words, while a warrior can't return all their health lost
in that 9 second period, they can return most of it, which means
that they are still dependent on other sources to keep that
going. This, of course, would just be one high healing power
warrior. A second running a similar trait setup would add
another 9000+ HP returned, yielding 18,000 to the party, and
30,000 to themselves.
Other classes are in a similar situation, in that they all have
the means, if the issue is needing lots of healing power, to
return large portions of their health with their healing skill,
but are dependent on and can also provide health return to the
rest of the party. The guardian is unique in the sense that,
even at low to 0 healing power, they can return all the health
of the party with one skill. However, that doesn't mean that,
with some coordination and properly traited, a party without a
guardian is not able to withstand the maw's agony at higher
level fractals.
Whether or not this is necessary considering that ascended
weapons, and soon ascended armor, will soon be out, is up in the
air. However, it's very obvious that the "we need a guardian for
____" mentality isn't valid. This is just one more situation
where it isn't. Guardians can make a lot of things easier,
certainly, but skillful play and knowledge about one's class are
a perfectly fine substitute. At least, a fine substitute for
those that have those things.
As a side note, this is an odd place for this particular thread.

My first character to reach level 50 was a necromancer, and I
could stay up (not get downed) on a 48 with 45AR using
Deathshroud. I was doing this along side guardians who would
repeatedly mess up the Tome of Courage heal and my little necro
would be the only one from the party left standing sometimes.
People were stubborn to depend on my necro and still insisted on
the silly 99% res trick but it worked every time I had a fully
charged Deathshroud. Ultimately, this encouraged me to level up
my guardian so I could better help the team and heal them with
the tome. :) Now my guardian is my main fractal character.
