Question about Mossman underwater trick

I've ran Mossman with the guild a number of times and sometimes,
there'll be someone who will suggest the use of the exploit to
fight mossman from underwater by using a mesmer or thief trick.
Out of the number of times it has been suggested, I've only seen
it work once (and technically not seen, because I was under the
water).
I main a guardian but I would like to know anyway if ever I get
a Mesmer/Trick ranked up and it doesn't get patched yet.

The mesmer gets close enough to pull the Mossman using skill 1
on the focus; place it on the ground then step back to the water
and pull him. You should then be able to all attack him from
under water. Make sure to be in place before attacking. Keep
in mind you can only pull once as he will be immune after.
You can also kill him without pulling with only long range
classes attacking: namely Engineer and Ranger but it is slower.

Thank you very much for the response! Unfortunately I wouldn't
be able to test it right away because of randomness and chance
to fail but I'll report back when we get it.
