Our Code of Conduct
By: Optimalcynicist Date: July 8, 2019, 9:23 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Disclaimer –
Every effort is made by Trace Gaming staff members to
ensure the community remains open minded, friendly and fair for
all members. Unfortunately in order to do so, certain actions
will need to be taken in the interest of the wider membership
that could cause some distress or irritation with some
individuals. By joining Trace Gaming as a member, you agree that
we manage ourselves through the Code of Conduct outlined and
that you accept and agree with any actions taken by Trace Gaming
and its staff to protect our memberships and our brand, you also
agree that you will not bring legal action against us at any
point for the actions taken. Any member attempting to pursue
action is to be aware that this document will serve as evidence
of your agreement. The enforcement of the following code of
conduct will be done so in a fair manner on a case by case basis
with the interest of Trace Gaming and its members being
paramount, Trace Gaming and its Staff teams will not be help
responsible or liable in the event a decision is made that could
cause loss or distress to yourself.
The purpose of our code of conduct is to ensure that all Trace
Gaming community members have the best experience. We are all
here to game together as teams and share tips, tricks and
support to one another and further enhance our gaming
experiences. The code of conduct outlines our behaviour as
individuals when conversing and interacting within the Trace
Gaming community, our discord server, organised gaming parties,
social media outlets and voice activities.
As an international community, our members are diverse, with
many different laws, cultures, opinions and experiences mixing
in a singular environment, this can lead to misunderstanding,
communication issues and sometimes unhappiness. To that end we
have devised the following set of rules to help govern the
community and ensure the best possible experience is created for
everybody who joins us or would like to contribute or
collaborate with Trace Gaming.
Built on Respect
All membership communities exist because of a continued respect
of one another, for this reason, we take this opportunity to
expand on our expectation of respect within Trace Gaming.
Respect Each Other
Not everybody will agree with comments, suggestions, ideas or
opinions, all the time. As a member or contributor to Trace
Gaming, you will respect individuals for who they are and how
they think. There will be times where you may disagree with a
comment or opinion of a member, this is no excuse however to
behave in a negative manner. We will all experience frustration,
irritation, anger, stress and become upset now and then, but we
cannot allow those emotions to turn into personal attacks or
offensive outbursts. It’s important to remember we are a diverse
community and we all have different views, comments and
opinions.
Respect the Structure
Trace Gaming prides itself on its structure, to manage and track
activity of hundreds of its members. To assist the maintenance
of that structure we appoint volunteering leaders, leaders that
we believe hold the qualities necessary to keep our community
fair, enjoyable and accessible to everyone from around the world
who share our common interest and passion in gaming. As a member
you respect the foundation of our structure, acknowledging the
time and effort of our leaders and help maintain our structure
by following a chain of command system which we enforce across
our community. This includes addressing any issues or enquiries
you may have both with the community and its members by
following and communicating with your direct leadership.
Respect the Decision
Sometimes we may have to make choices that not everyone will
like or agree with, however, our choices are made with the
benefit of Trace Gaming in mind and its continuation of services
to members of the gaming industry, both players and developers
and also retailers of various kinds. When decisions have been
made we expect our members to support us and if not, then either
continue to be a part of Trace Gaming regardless or leave our
community willingly. It would be an unfortunate and unnecessary
shame for an incident to occur simply through the disagreement
of a decision where a member requires forced removal or the use
of disciplinary actions and we aim to avoid those situations as
best we can.
If you can agree with everything stated above, you’re already
ahead of the game and the following Code of Conduct rules will
make sense to you, it’s advisable that you read them thoroughly
and ensure you seek help for anything you do not understand so
that you are never involved in any incidents and can assist us
in identifying any breaches and ensure Trace Gaming remains free
from bad influences and conduct.
The Code of Conduct
Code 1 – Behaviour
1.1
You will conduct yourself maturely within the Trace Gaming
discord server and any organised events, parties or officially
recognised services and areas of operation for Trace Gaming.
Maturity in this instance is defined as acting in a manner than
appreciate comments and actions taken by members of the
community and not creating or escalating possible incidents
based around your personal opinions in regards of those comments
or actions.
1.2
During your participation within Trace Gaming, you will not
commit or involve yourself in any actions or discussions that
could be considered offensive, disruptive or contradictory of
Trace Gaming’s progression and improvement. Offensive and
disruptive actions are considered as any comments or actions
that may cause distress to members, directly impeded or threaten
Trace Gaming, cause any form of disapproval of Trace Gaming and
anything general considered to be an unnecessary nuisance from
our community staff or leading members.
1.3
You will accept responsibility of your behaviour and actions
whilst under the influence. We all like to enjoy life and we all
have functions to attend, we cannot allow members who are drunk
or under the influence of drugs to express the behaviour
outlined above. You will understand that regardless of your
personal emotions and mentality, your interaction within Trace
Gaming and with its members will still be considered under the
Code of Conduct as per the above Respect of Each Other overview.
Code 2 – Harassment, Racism and Sexism
2.1
Harassment can be defined in many ways, here at Trace Gaming, we
define it as a continuation of action after a request to stop
has been made. This does not apply for individuals not involved
in current discussions or activities however but does apply to
individuals with a direct involvement. You will cease any
activity at the request of a member that a continuation of would
cause that member to feel uncomfortable. This could include but
is not limited to; continuing a topic of discussion, unwanted
attempts at contact and unwanted requests for invitations or
involvements.
2.2
The lowest form of conduct you can commit morally is to use an
individual’s differences as a weapon, for that reason there is a
zero tolerance on racism, sexism and explicit harassment. Whilst
participating as a member of Trace Gaming, you will not act or
involve yourself in any form of bullying whatsoever, to define
bullying from a joke, it is simply any comment or action
directed maliciously towards and individual or any comment or
action considered a personal attack on an individual. Explicit
harassment is defined as unwanted sexual attention, this could
be considered flirting, derogatory comments and unwanted
suggestion or advances. Failure to recognise an act or comment
as a form of bullying will bring Code 1.1 into consideration
also during a reported breach.
Code 3 – Poaching
3.1
You will not attempt to convince or offer membership or
positions to any community, clan or team that is not officially
recognised by Trace Gaming, to any of its members. A lot of time
and effort has gone into providing the services we offer to the
gaming industry and we will not tolerate any attempt to deny
Trace Gaming’s potential for growth by individuals who wish to
decrease our member numbers. Members are free to leave the
community under their own choices without the assistance of
temptation or pressure.
Code 4 – Self Promotion
4.1
We actively support the attempt for recognition and the need to
share gaming achievements and interactions socially, for this
reason we have set up a media department and provided open
channels within our discord for you to promote and advertise
yourself to Trace Gaming members. Any abuse of our facilities
for promotion outside of these channels or the media department
process is considered as harassment towards our members and will
not be tolerated.
4.2
Promoting events, tournaments or other streamers channels not
officially recognised, supported or affiliated with Trace Gaming
or without the required permission from staff also falls under
Conduct Code 4 and will be recognised as Self Promotion also.
Code 5 – Privacy
5.1
Privacy online is an important and worrying concept to consider,
for this reason, you are not permitted to share any of your
personal information or request the information of another
member of the community in any of the available platforms used
by Trace Gaming including official recognised platforms, parties
or events. This includes but is not limited to; names, email
addresses, social medias, addresses, ages and gender.
5.2
You understand that to provide any personal information to
another member within a platform recognised and operated by
Trace Gaming is also considered as a breach of Conduct Code 5.
5.3
You appreciate that certain activities and situations may
require certain forms of personal information in order for us to
operate in an official capacity, you recognise that this
information will ONLY be requested by a Staff member, a Senior
Staff member or within a form linked to you by a Staff or Senior
Staff member for signups and applications. To provide any
information to a member who claims to be acquiring the
information on behalf of a Staff or Senior Staff member will
enact the effects of Code 5.2.
5.4
Plagiarism is a big issue within online communities, you will
agree that all your contributions to Trace Gaming are original
and of your own creation, if not, you will credit the original
source and accept personally any copyright terms attached. Items
liable for plagiarism are as follows but not limited to; images,
written content, video and ideas. Nobody likes to have the
appreciation from their time and effort stolen, it won’t be
acceptable within Trace Gaming.
Code 6 – Spam and Channel Abuse
6.1
When you become a member of Trace Gaming, you will notice that
there are many channels within our main platform, discord. These
channels have been created to serve a specific purpose and
channels for general discussion, content sharing and promotions
have been created also. You will maintain the server’s
performance and maintenance by only using channels for their
specified purposes, you will not post inappropriate or
non-relatable comments or content that is not sufficiently
considered for the channels purpose or the current discussion
within.
6.2
Repetitive and nonsensical posts are considered spam and
generate many complications within emails, social media comment
areas and within our discord server. You will not post forms of
spam within any platform or channel, there is a spam channel
available for your use on our discord should you feel a need to
share any comments or content not relatable to anything on any
of our platforms.
Code 7 – Chain of Command
7.1
You will follow correct procedures during your interactions as a
member of Trace Gaming. Upon joining our community you will be
assigned to a team which is decided upon by your choice of
gaming platform. Teams will be led by capable and recognised
members of our community, considered leaders. You will follow
our leadership structure when seeking advice or reporting
information of possible incidents, addressing you’re directly
assigned leader first. You will only address leaders beyond the
position directly above you if immediate response is
unavailable, the leader will not have the required information
or if the information you have refers to a severe incident.
7.2
You understand that any information or incidents contained
within a department is separate from the leadership structure
within the community and that you will address any departmental
incidents or support requests following the structure outlined
within that department.
7.3
You agree that you recognise the leadership structure in place
along with its purpose. You accept that leaders are assigned
based on their ability, maturity and actively and that members
within leadership positions are assigned with the support and on
the recommendation of other leaders. Any attempt to undermine
the integrity, ability or authorisation of an assigned leader
will be considered a breach of Code 7.1
Code 8 – Incident Instigation
8.1
You agree that you will not commit to any purposeful acts with
the intention of causing a breach to any part of the Code of
Conduct. This means that through comments, content, verbally or
any other interaction, you will not incite or create a situation
in which another member of the community may breach a section of
our Code of Conduct either directly or indirectly.
8.2
You understand that by causing an incident or breach of the Code
of Conduct, indirectly or on purpose, by yourself or through
manipulation of another member, you will be held responsible for
that incident or breach and Code 8.1 will be considered during
conduct reviews.
Breach of Conduct
Any breach of the Code of Conduct outlined above by a member of
Trace Gaming will be responded to with disciplinary action. The
actions of discipline that can and will be used are as follows;
Warnings – Warnings are given for conduct that could cause a
breach of the Code of Conduct outlined above, these can be
handled by any level of leadership within the community, a
warning is to be considered as advice to cease current
activities before an incident and noticeable breach is
committed.
Probation – Members can be placed on a probationary period for
conduct causing a potential or minor breach of our Code of
Conduct. When on probation a One Strike Policy is adopting where
no further warning will be given and further actions considered
as a contradiction to the Code of Conduct will be treated as a
breach.
Periodic Removal – Members who have committed a breach of our
Code of Conduct, after review could be removed from our
community and denied access for a period of up to 7 days. This
is done to allow a cooling period from any cause of the breach
and give time to members so that they can assess their
interactions without the possibility of incidents being
escalated.
Bans – For serious breaches of the Code of Conduct or escalated
conduct within current incidents, a permanent ban from Trace
Gaming may be applied if the continued inclusion of a member is
considered threatening of Trace Gaming’s progression,
performance or projected intention.
All disciplinary actions will be decided upon through a Review
Board made up of accountable members of Trace Gaming, a copy of
our Review procedure can be obtained on request should you
require one and the reason for your request is deemed applicable
by Senior Staff.
The Code of Conduct outlined above has been devised for both
your protection as a member, partner or contributor and the
protection of Trace Gaming and its administrating members. By
joining our community as either a member, partner or contributor
you agree to abide by the Code of Conduct and understand that
the rules stipulated only apply to platforms within the control

held responsible for any comments, opinions or content between
members, partners and contributors on the following example
platforms; personal discord direct messages, private console or
steam parties, streaming channels, private chats, personal
social media outlets, personal phones, emails or letters.
Anything not operated officially by Trace Gaming administration
staff is outside of the ruling for disciplinary and action of
enforcement of these Codes of Conduct.
