The Walking Dead
By: renohotness Date: September 6, 2013, 7:04 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Just gonna start a thread for this because season 4 will be
starting soon and I'm sure there will be much to freak out over
given the high rate of death on that show. xD
Also, there's a lovely Facebook thread filled with lovely ladies
and if you'd like to join just let me know~ Just keep in mind
that there will be spoilers here and there if you haven't caught
up with the show.
Any fans here? Who is your favorite character and why? And no
"DARYL CUZ HE'S HAWT!11!!" That's a given. I say that enough
about Rick every five seconds. lolz The good thing about the
show is that it offers so much character development and each
one is relatable in different ways.
Rick is my baby, of course. I love how he started out so
innocent and protective and then we get to see him slowly
decline into something much darker. It's the way that he
wrestles with the warring sides of himself that makes me root
for him more. I think in a world like that you have to try and
find some sort of balance. Compassion for the people you protect
and yet willing to do whatever is necessary to keep them safe.
He's finally getting to that point, I think. I'm very interested
to see where he goes this season because I don't think he'll be
out of the leadership role for long. It's not in him and it's
not in Daryl to lead. Norman said that himself, so no yelling at
me~ ;{

Aaaaah~
Season 4 starts a month after Korra exactly, so I can't wait.
;-;
I just started reading the comics and they're so much different
from the show... But that doesn't stop Glenn from being my
favourite character. Even though he really irked me near the end
of season 3, I'll still love him. ^-^ He's pretty resourceful
and the fastest one in the group, I'm not sure if it's because
he's Asian or what. And that's also the main reason I like
him... because he's Asian. I'm a sucker for Asian boys. ;-;
They're so beautiful.
But I also looooooved Andrea. Even though again, she got on my
nerves in the third season. She was dead to me... and then she
redeemed herself and then.... -sniff sniff- My feels!
And then there's Michonne. I have a lot of favourites. n__n;;

For some reason I miss innocent Glenn. I think because it was so
much more endearing to see him show so much courage and
now...it's all about Maggie and I find that rather annoying.
Sweet, sure, and the show needs moments like that but it's not a
soap opera. Then again, season 3 annoyed me all around so that
might have just added to it. xD
I disliked Andrea in the show. Comic Andrea is another story. I
adore her to pieces and it's a shame they didn't take her
character through the same arc on tv. I won't give details in
case you aren't that far~
Michonne is just perfect though and I'm so happy to see her
bonding with Rick like they do in the comics. They have a very
special relationship as two people who understand each other. I
don't ship them but I'm eager to see that friendship grow even
deeper. They make such a badass duo.
I'm very afraid because they are going to bring more comic
elements into the show and after the prison arc, it just gets
insane.
I do want Carol to die though. *dodges rocks* She is the one
person in that show I can not stand. Aside from Lori....but
that's not an issue anymore. *evil cackle*

I DO miss Innocent Glenn and while I AM happy for him and
Maggie, you're right, it's too much and they need to calm that
down. They already have one baby, do they REALLY need another
one?
I'm not gonna lie, I like comic Andrea way more than TV Andrea.
Because she doesn't take any shit and I applaude her on that. I
just finished volume one though, so thanks for not saying much
on her part. Though my friend has been telling me tidbits for
awhile now anyways. >__>;; But now she stopped since she's
letting me borrow her books and reading it now. So no more
freebies for moi~
Mmm. I think it was the second to last or the last episode? Rick
gave Michonne them bedroom eyes. I peeped that. Haha, I'm
horrible, but for real. I'm glad they're getting along better
from when they first met each other because Michonne is badass
and they need her.
I'm a bit indifferent towards Carol. She's just kinda... there.
Although, I do wish that Daryl and her don't get together
because she's UBER old and that would be gross. -shudder- But
Lori?! Thank you baby Jesus! Oh my glob, I hate her.

Can't help it. Daryl and Michonne Fan here. Favourite characters
are something of a hot topic in my house as a whole, but it's
pretty much agreed they're the top two, with Merle potentially
as third. Couldn't break it to my folks that Dale died when they
declared him one of their favourites after Daryl.
Daryl - You just can't help it. There's way more then looks to
this smart man, who's got the Crossbow (Which hooked me from the
get go. What can I say, I love a man with traditional
weaponry!?), and throws dead squirrels at people. More
importantly, his evolution from Season One to Three. I melted
when he's looking for Sophia. Tell'em that they don't need luck
or prayers cause they were going to find her alright. Broke my
heart when they didn't.
Michonne... Oh my gosh Michonne. Traditional Weaponry. I am a
sucker for traditional weaponry. From her instincts to the way
she carries herself, and the gut reactions, to the gutting.
What's not to like about a strong independent woman who loves
crazy artwork like that cat? I was like. That is a nice cat.
That is a nice cat. (*Insert Donkey impression here.*)
So, I was actually fairly new at TWD from about the time that I
joined the Forum (Chasing the Lovely Amber's Fanfic Acquiescence
is actually how I got here), so I had it handy and started
watching it everyday from when I got home from work. Ended up
getting my entire household addicted, even my gore-hating mother
joined in (and ended up finishing the third season before AND
without me!). I'm pretty sure there's going to be a party when
we're able to watch the Fourth Season. [s]In an entirely
different story got crossbows banned in my house. I swear I
didn't do anything wrong.[/s]
I sure as hell didn't cry when Lori died. The only thing that
got me was that Carl had to do it. But it garnered some more
respect for me. Ain't nobody throwing rocks at you here, Amber
lovely, about Carol. I was happy when I thought she bit the dirt
the first time. I just couldn't like her.
As for Glenn. Honestly, he used to be one of my Favs, I even
have this tiny vinyl figure next to me on this desk
[s]surrounded by Daryl[/s].. Then he changed. The change at
first in Season 2 made sense to me, then things started to
change way too drastically (for me at least). I mean this was
the guy who thought ahead to planning two different escape
routes to grab a bag in the streets of Atlanta to saying, "You
and me Michonne. Let's go do in the Governor. Tonight." As it
were. It just didn't sit right with me. He got dumber and more
in love as the Season went on in my mind. Not that I don't love
him and Maggie, and honestly, if I could get eaten everyday I
would totally want to marry someone I love. It's just like
they're making poor life choices. (How many times would you risk
your life for a condom? They have it sounding like they're going
at it like rabbits)

So liake. Can we please talk about Carl and his need for
respect? Because I can't with him. "Oh noes! I'm not gonna kill
you. -puts down the gun- I was just trying to run away from the
chaos." Here we go with Carl. ".... -shoots him dead-" And I'm
sitting here like "REALLY?!?!" And then!! He lied about it!! I
was so upset. Like... if I was Rick, I would've slapped his ass
in the face. 'Cause ain't nobody got time for your attitude
because you gonna hold a grudge with The Governor and you're all
sour puss that we didn't get him and let his people stay with
us. Like... ugh!!! I just don't fucking like Carl. Sorry for the
language. I usually try to be civil online, but oh my glawhb!!
Everyone else, I really don't have a problem with. Like I said,
Carol for me is just... there.
And technically! They did find Sophia! :D ....... She just
wasn't alive when they did find her.

The thing about Carl after that shooting though, I don't think
he lied. I think he truly believed he had a logical reason to
shoot that boy. On one hand, I can understand. If I had to shoot
my mom after she just died in childbirth, I don't know what that
would do to me. Add his father going slightly insane and yelling
at nothing and everyone else making a mess of things, and he
felt like he was the only one who could step up and get shit
done. Rick brought that on him. It's not Carl's fault. Rick gave
him too much power, thinking he needed to in order to keep him
alive so he could protect himself.
Balance though. There has to be balance. And a sense of family.
Talking about things even when you don't want to. They probably
still haven't talked about Lori's death and they both need that.

I cannot.
Repeat: Cannot wait for Season 4.
Walking Dead is my ultimate favorite show, stealing the glory
from Criminal Minds and Derek Morgan's manly deliciousness. I
adore that man, but alas Zombies are my favorite villains and a
show that can bring them into reality in such a realistic way
deserves to be a favorite. In all truth, Walking Dead is the
only show I've ever really called a favorite. I don't normally
do favorites. No favorite song, flavor, drink, etc. You can see
where I'm probably going with this, right? A paragraph full of
praise that is probably unneeded. As I'm fairly certain everyone
adores this show just as much, if not more, than me. =)
But as for my favorite character? That is truly a hard question.
However, the one I love to hate is Andrea, and I'm sure the
reasons are plenty known. She's a strong woman who has faced a
lot. Although she has gotten on my nerves, at points, causing me
to curse a storm at the TV (I get so into the show that it
causes me to talk to it as if my warnings or opinions will be
heard). However, the woman has earned her place as a possible
favorite; just not mine. I do respect her, though, and honestly
- she is a person I could see as a role model.
But my favorites character. I could say Daryl Dixon, the bow
wielding mass of hotness, and it doesn't help that his country
ways relate to me in more than just attitude. I've grown up in
the country - born and raise in Kentucky, myself. I know of
hunting, four-wheeler riding, finding sanctuary in the woods and
more. Though, don't ever rely on me to track someone down; I'd
only get us lost, lol. It is very possible for him to be my
favorite, but I cannot be sure.
I would say it would be between him, Maggie and Beth. I relate
to them in ways that I can't relate to the others. From falling
into a despair to finding the love of my life in a very
unexpected way.
Either way, I can't pick a favorite, but I can say without any
doubt that I am excited for the show. =) Me and my boyfriend
both. October 13th can't be any slower, but I'm sure it'll be
worth the wait![/font]

Those feels. While I have lots of favorite things, TWD is the
only show I watch. Period. If my tv is on, I'm either gaming or
rewatching the show. A friend nagged me to get into it because I
love zombies (Resident Evil~) so much and I almost ignored him
because of how lame most of the movies have been. The classic
Night of the Living Dead being a wonderful exception. Now, if I
had to pick between eating on Sunday or watching the show, I'd
pick the show without hesitating. It's that bad and I'm not even
ashamed.
I agree with the Andrea love/hate thing. Merle was the same way
for me, though I came to adore him to pieces. Such amazing
writing on the show. I hate trying to get friends into it and of
course they say "But zombies scare me!" and I just want to pull
my hair out because it's about so much more than that.
