SILVERSTONE RACE REPORT ASF:
Q: 9th, no time, name any corner on the track and I most likely
cut it during quali. For some reason my car was handling VERY
poorly, and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why. I was
playing online with Supanash with this setup and was able to
easily quali a mid 1:27. Even with my corner cutting I couldn't
even get into the 1:27s. Had one good hot lap going for me and I
blew the freaking engine.
R: 2nd, start of the race and I was able to sneak ahead of Josh
and Striker by turn 1, as Striker had a bad start (like he
occasionally does). Someone threw Kiwi into me on the outside in
a divebomb at turn 1, and I lost a piece of my front wing. So
there were 3 spots I gained by lap 1 up into 6th. Within no
time, I was right up behind Gazza and putting heaps of pressure
on him. He finally went wide at Stowe and I dove underneath and
flew past...and for the next 3 laps I began to play "Where's
Kiwi". Passing him (and a few times, making light to medium
contact with his lagging car), and then his car appearing about
200 meters up the road. At the end of the first stint, I had
tracked down Macca, but I was able to stay out for 1 extra lap
while all the frontrunners pitted.
2nd stint, I came out between Ben and Macca in 4th, and on my
cold tires, Macca was able to get around me again so I fell to
5th. On lap 10, I had DRS from Macca and stupidly opened it
before I straightened out and did a nice 360 down Wellington
Straight. I kicked myself repeatedly for that one....a couple of
laps later, I saw Castrol coming out of pit lane and I barely
took 4th spot from him. Castrol looked like he was having a
great middle stint as he was catching me at a huge clip.
At the middle point of the race, I noticed my fuel was optimal
already for some reason, and before I pitted for my 2nd set of
primes, I was in the negatives (I think for the first time
ever). As before, Macca pitted a lap before me, and I dipped
into the pits just as Castrol shot past.
Came out of the pits behind Macca again in 5th, but I had to
turn my fuel to lean. Ben must have spun off at Vale, because I
grabbed 4th place at lap 20. Castrol pitted sometime in there
also..Around lap 21 I saw that it had begun to rain, so I kept
my fuel on lean just to slow down my engine a bit and not spin
out. I noticed that up ahead, Macca's gap was decreasing
considerably as laps 22, 23, and 24 wore on. I turned my fuel up
to normal on 23, and Macca was going wide at just about every
corner. Brooklands and Luffield he was all over the place so I
chopped a good 2 or 3 sec out there. On lap 24, I saw Josh had
spun out up near the DRS zone, and he was placed in between
Macca and myself. Josh was driving in the middle of the track
down the old pit straight and I made contact with him and got
sent to the inside wall, almost took my front wing off, and
Castrol at this point was right up behind me again.
Wasn't before long that I had caught up to Macca again...and
tried to outdrive him at Maggots/Becketts/Chapel on lap 25, used
DRS down Hangar, and he went wide at Stowe and I took 2nd place.
Final lap I turned my fuel back down to lean and just kept
myself from spinning out and finished a comfortable 2nd.
Best finish of the season for me this week! Very strange that I
grabbed 2nd place with a crap setup and no actual quali lap
(Went from 9th to 2nd is remarkable). Nash had some bad luck
this race (for once) so he couldn't be up to compete with us.
D.O.D. has to be given to Livo, as yet again he is proving that
he is just too fast for any of the rest of us. :P
Pretty sure I had the slowest fast lap of the race too, which
really surprised the hell out of me also. Thank God for that
rain at the end.

DOD - Drew
Nice race report mate, very detailed. Not easy to come from the
back & deal with laggy cars & stay composed with a slower
set-up.
Race was boring for me other than trying not to crash when
lapping slower cars.
I will say that fuel was an issue for me too for the 1st time as
I was in the red half way through.
Gun MIA? Kiwi disconnecting after being in a strong position &
what happened to Supanash? 1st time not on the podium? :(

Q - 2. 126.1 I think. Not a good time for me. Just before the
league race I did a 20% race with kiwi, livo and striker and
qualified in 125.x on primes, so I knew I could go faster but in
the end settled for that, since it looked like it would be good
enough for 2nd.
R - 4. Got a nice clean start and slotted in behind Livo. Car
felt bad at the start of the race as it often does for me but I
was hanging on ok. We both pitted on lap 5 and I think Livo was
about 4 seconds ahead. That's when it all went wrong for me.
Exited the pits to find a car between Livo and me. I think it
was Josh (white car - Sauber? I don't have the drivers names
floating above the cars so I can't say for sure). I closed up
going into the Maggotts/Becketts complex and he seemed to lose
control and slowed down a lot. I couldn't react in time and
smashed into him. Lost my front wing completely and got a
penalty. So, having pitted on lap 5 for tyres, I had to pit
again on lap 6 for a wing and once more on lap 7 for the
penalty. Less than ideal.
After all that I was pleased to drag myself up to 4th, since I
must have lost close to a minute from the two extra trips down
the pit lane.
Without the crash I reckon I'd have been not too far behind Livo
in 2nd. So I suppose it's only 6 points dropped if I look at it
that way. Have to stay positive!
To round things off, I got kicked out of the lobby straight
after the race finished.

I think the start of Valencia is the only time we have really
had a battle mate. I will take the win but I'm sure you would of
pushed me hard :(

Q 10th....no time set....due to crap setup on first run, I dived
into the pits before I set a time, got out just in time, but cut
a corner, therefore no time set.
Race-5th, Had a good battle with Kiwi's and strikers lag....very
offputting for the race, having to battle with cars that are not
actually at your part of the track, other than that, had a quiet
race, just edging up to Drew each lap, then stupidly pitted for
inters with 2 laps to go, so could have had 4th.

Ahhhh so that's where you went at the end Castrol...I was
wondering what happened to you after I hit Josh with a few laps
to go cus you were right on my rear wing.

Q=4th R=3rd
I'm pretty happy to finish on the podium here as It is not a
favourite track of mine. Race was pretty uneventful really. I
had a decent start and held my position thought better of diving
up the inside on Beno through turn one so backed out of it.
First few laps I was trying to keep up with Livo, Nash and Ben
as we were all pulling away from Gaz so I turned my fuel down to
use it later in the race. In hind sight I should have used it
earlier because my tires were stuffed and it was raining so I
couldnt use the extra full I had to full effect. Good strategy
from Drew to catch me on the last lap and pass me round the
outside of turn 4. I had NO grip what so ever and thought about
a pit stop with two laps to go. I think I made the right call
staying out as I had about 16 seconds on Nash.
Happy to keep the curry munchers on the podium ;D
Gun you should add podiums to your signature mate. I have raced
five races in this team and have been on the podium in four of
them 8)
D.O.D goes to Drew. Great drive mate.

Guys I'm really sorry about last night, I had a huge and rare
problem at work that was unexpected and I had to stay and fix
it, so that's why I was late leaving here. It should never
happen again.
I would've been fine skipping quali and just joining in the race
with one of the invites (I didn't even have a quali time after
all anyway!)
From then, things were just downhill with my connection. I
diagnosed the problem as well, and I shouldn't be experiencing
any problems like that again.
On another note, when you guys do invite me to the lobby, there
are a few people's invites who just never work lol. Pretty much
any invite I get from Macca, Supanash, and Livolay works...the
other ones are hit or miss :P. (gazza, kiwi, and gun fit into
this mix)
