Weren't we just talking about this in another thread, that we
don't even look at/care much about points standings?
I don't think that this should be confusing / become a charity
where points are just handed out frivolously...i stand alongside
my teammate and vote no on this one.

This is a bit of a hard one - If I qualify let's say 8th, and by
some miracle I find myself in first due to a pile up, and I
disconnect before the half way point I get 1point, if I
disconnect after the half way point I get 12.5 points, but if I
qualify 1st and disconnect before half way I get 10 points and
after half way 12.5 points, I don't think it's a fair system,
but yes I agree to giving points for a disconnection. :-\ :-\

Not sure why you think it's not a fair system? The main bulk of
points are still won by race results. It's merely limiting the
points gap if the worst happens & ensures that the quickest guys
are reflected in the standings.
The only scenario where the system can be abused is when the
pole sitter goes from 1st to last early in the race & decides to
disconnect. To get 10 pts instead of say 2pts.
Wouldn't happen though as everyone is honest & if your good
enough for pole with more than half a race they are more than
capable of finishing higher than 5th(10pts).

Well, if you Q-1st and I Q-8th and you are involved in a pile up
and I am then in 1st and you are in the pits last and the
positions don't change up till just before the half way and we
both disconnect, then you get 10 points and I get 1 point. May
never happen but you have to assume it might. :-\

Yes but it's safe to assume that you will drop places based on
your qualy pace & I will gain places based on qualy after that
incident with that scenario.
Can also change the point structure if that's the issue. Maybe
the 1st suggestion but only in the event of an early disconnect.
I'm just throwing new ideas out there based on fairness which is
why this league works so well. Everybody are really fair but
competitive.
I'm not really arsed if everyone disagrees with me. I'm more
just brainstorming ideas in the best interest of the league.

I agree with you Livo, I just don't know how you would structure
it as you have to take into account all possible scenarios, as
for the qualifying time and losing ground based on that, maybe
there is only 0.5sec between 1st and 8th?? so you cannot assume
that.

what about 1 point for qualifying 1st, and setting a mid pack
score for a disconnection before the half way mark, depending on
the number of players, ( 12 players, you get position 6, gives
you 8 points ) and stay with the half points on position after
the half way point??

i think normal f1 points are the easiest and less confusing! i
like the f/lap points but anyone can duck in with 3/4 laps to go
and bang out a f .lap, do that all season and its nearly worth a
race win, but in the end its all for fun
!!!!
