       Description:
       The first “Grains and Planes,” sponsored by Seneca County Farm
       Bureau, will be held on Saturday September 26 and Sunday the 27
       from 1-5 at the Meadeville Farm Pumpkin Patch farm at 1911
       Auburn Road (Rtes. 5&20).  This is free to the public and full
       of food, fun and education for the whole family.
       Cornell Cooperative Extension will host 4-H activities at Grains
       and Planes each hour on the hour both days.  In addition,  a
       canning demonstration at 1PM on both days and then finish the
       rest of the afternoon, 2-5PM, with farm fresh vegetable recipe
       demonstrations and taste samplings.  We will have information on
       food preservation,  recipes, and nutrition to hand out
       throughout the afternoon.
       
       The 4-H activities start with a short book reading followed by
       hands-on activities.  Adults are welcome to join.
       Saturday at 1p.m.
       "Weaving the Rainbow" by George Ella Lyon.  Participants will be
       able to do felting using local fiber.
       Saturday at 2p.m.
       "Sugarbush Spring" by Marsha Wilson Chall teaches the
       fascinating process of making maple syrup.  See equipment and
       taste a sample.
       Saturday at 3p.m.
       "The Beeman" by Laurie Krebs and Valeria Cis.  See beekeeping
       equipment and taste sweet honey.
       Saturday at 4p.m.
       Dairy products are the center piece in “Extra Cheese.”
       Sunday at 1p.m.

       Sunday at 2p.m.
       "The Tree Farmer" written by Chuck Leavell.  Learn about
       different kinds of trees and wood, and what they are used for.
       Sunday at 3p.m.
       "The Beeman."  See beekeeping equipment and taste sweet honey.
       Sunday at 4p.m.

       The Finger Lakes Air Pirates will have model airplanes and
       drones in the air. Check out the Combine-shape Bounce House
       (FREE), sponsored by Monroe Tractor and enjoy free tastes of the
       Official Seneca County Root Beer Float, while ingredients last,
       made from special Vanilla Bean Ice Cream from the Cayuga Lake
       Creamery and Wagner Vineyards Great Root Beer.
       Local farm foods and beverages will be available to taste and
       buy. “We invite everyone to come and celebrate local
       agriculture,” said Bruce Maybury, president of Seneca County
       Farm Bureau.
       Giant pieces of farm equipment we see in fields will be there
       with farmers explaining how they work reducing the farm’s
       footprint.
       “We are so excited to host this family fun filled festival. We
       want everyone to come and enjoy Seneca County agriculture.” Said
       Ann Marie Heizmann, vice-president Seneca County Farm Bureau.
       A petting ‘zoo,’ covered hay wagon rides and live music round
       out the day.
       The barn on the property will house displays, tastes of Seneca
       County, demonstrations and activities so this is a perfect
       family outing – rain or shine. Be sure to get your face painted
       and support 4-H.
