Fremantle Restaurant Reviews

It's time to dedicate a thread to the Fremantle Cappuccino Strip
which is inundated with places to eat, drink or have coffee. I
went tonight thinking it wouldn't be too busy but there were a
couple of thousand people taking up floor space at various
places.
Tonight I went to "Pizza BellaRoma" with Kurt and another male
friend of ours. The friend ate Veal Parmesan and Kurt and I had
Chicken and Mushrooms in a creamy pesto sauce ... absolutely
delicious... Mine was a bit rich I thought. Too much cream in
the sauce... Still, I would have this again but I'm burping
basil all night now while I sit here loading up pictures!...lol
Our friend gave us some of his enormous steak... It was too much
for one person to eat!

Portorosa tonight was VERY nice. We went after the rush hour 9
pm. Prompt service by a charming German working tourist (I hope
they paid him well), tender meats and a tad pricey.
Yep.... this one gets a big plus. My only complaint was the
potato was too hot and it was of the instant kind.

I had veal with mushrooms and white wine sauce, mash potato and
vegetables, $27.00. My only complaint was the potato was too hot
and it was of the instant kind.

Kurt had Fillet Steak (Surf and Turf), chips and salad, $38.00.

Ginos is the view from the Portorosa.

On Christmas Eve we took a friend to have coffee and fish and
chips at Fisherman's Harbour. We ate at Cicerello's. I had
squid... The Squid was excellent... the chips were horrible.
They are ALWAYS horrible and dry.. One serve is $17.50... too
many horrible chips... lousy on the tartare sauce. The coffee
was good but then it's hard not to get good coffee in Freo.
It was OK for a change... I keep trying to take pictures of the
aquariums but they never turn out. I have my wrong camera for
that job with me.

Good night in Essex Street Fremantle at Outback Jacks... plenty
of customers... service SLOW.... Real mash potatoes yum.. Salad
GREAT... Meat tender BUT I didn't like the smoked charcoal burnt
flavour, and expensive. I complained my Filet Mignon didn't have
mushroom sauce over it and sent the waitress off to get some...
And like I have already said.. the chips were lovely... My bacon
had burned edges. I shared pork ribs with Kurt as an Entrée...
We both had filet mignon for our maincourse... our friend had a
T-Bone with Pepper sauce. My friend bought me dessert.

1st of August 2014
Palmyra..Cafe 58 (Yum)
I loved it. I had Smoked Salmon and Prawns on Fettuccine with
capers... And Kurt had Barramundi .... He didn't like the cumin
seeds in his.. there were too many.
It was really cold outside but inside they had a wood fire
burning! There was only one toilet for men and women... I
checked it out!
My meal was $26.00 and Kurts was $35.00

I've made no secret Rydges is one of my favourite places but the
last time I went I was a little disappointed. Apparently Asians
have taken over and the food isn't as good as it used to be....
We bloody well do NOT need another freaking Chinese style
place... Even the bloody Chinese want to try other foods you
know... Get a clue people.
Anyway that's another story... It reeks class this place...
Right near the water front at Fishermans Harbour...

HTML http://i.imgur.com/XVhnMp5.jpg[/img]
So, what did I have this time you ask... well, give me a little
bit and I'll tell you!
Entree... Little bit of squid, boring chicken, my all time
favourite hobbit food, mushrooms, (and they did not disappoint)
A tiny piece of potato, capsicum, onion, and goodness knows what
that white stuff was but its possible it was some type of salty
cheese.

HTML http://i.imgur.com/mg1R1BR.jpg[/img]
My main meals (I had two) was turkey and yes, I KNOW I said it's
a horrible bird before but whoever cooked this turkey must have
found the nicest, yummiest one left on the planet... It was
AMAZINGLY tender. Obviously I had some vegetables with that.

HTML http://i.imgur.com/e3rwJ1S.jpg[/img]
My second mainmeal was fish with fresh taragon and more
vegetables..

HTML http://i.imgur.com/CTyGoln.jpg[/img]
Wait until you see my dessert..
My birthday was last Friday and it took 3 days to get to my
celebration... that and Rydges, normally $45 a head, for the
next month it's $31 a head everyday and that's a $14 saving...
The display was lovely however, my favourite wasn't there... nor
was my stuff squid.
This was what faced me in the cold section... or part of it at
least...
Very uninviting chicken
HTML http://i.imgur.com/c9fSw6U.jpg
My favurite mushrooms...
HTML http://i.imgur.com/1NUC3Xl.jpg
Roasted Capsicum and Eggplant....
HTML http://i.imgur.com/E8CD9iC.jpg
Prawns.. I didn't choose any. I had lobster yesterday so I'm
seafood spent really but they looked insipid anyway...
HTML http://i.imgur.com/RgRoEaz.jpg
I had this... it was much better than the chicken... The squid!
HTML http://i.imgur.com/60M0wd0.jpg
I had some fruit for dessert
HTML http://i.imgur.com/CGlWSD0.jpg
With butterscotch mousse ... and jelly and cream not
photographed for obvious reasons... we all know what jelly looks
like!
I admit to really pigging out on this...
HTML http://i.imgur.com/y0WG4F8.jpg
AND I stuffed down some pavlova for good measure..
HTML http://i.imgur.com/ANgh3NQ.jpg
OK so now I'm changing image hosts ....imageshake #2 book is
full...
The cheese was VERY tempting. I should have had a doggy bag..

Tonight I visited the Ciao Italian Restaurant in Applecross,
Perth WA. This is the second time I've visited in two weeks. It
was full of patrons and very, very noisy. I video taped the
noise and to entertain Bra1n, a Kurt and Cathy argument I just
know Kurt loves. I find it a chore to talk in such a noisy place
and having to raise my voice is a bit difficult..
I only had Garlic bread, Minestroni soup and Lasagne this time.
Last time I had Tortellini with mushroom sauce. That's my
favourite. I cook my ow Italian dishes. They're very easy to
make... I just wanted to go out cuz and no other reason.
Garlic Bread, (a tad light on the garlic)

Minestrone Soup, (a little watery) plenty of it though.
HTML http://www.ballsgohere.com/uploads/854a693464.jpg
HTML http://www.ballsgohere.com
Lasagne, (Perfection) Just right but very filling especially
after soup...lol

One thing I respect about Italians, they take pride in the
freshness of food ingrdients in their dishes. You cannot say the
same about Asian rubbish. They recycle stuff. I personally think
I'll never eat another Asian dish unless I prepare it myself!
I'm waiting on the video in youtube. With any luck, this new
fight will erase the Fremantle prison episode from Bra1n's mind.
It'll be ready in a few minutes..
