through his hair as she sighed. "Yes, there is the right of
passage. You have trained long and hard Xia, you will be able
to handle what is ordained by your right to the staff." He was
quiet for a moment, as if struggling with a thought. "It is not
something to be explained, but to be done. When you are ready

She nodded "Then lets start this test. No reason to hesitate and
prolong this." she said and smiled. "I am certain that this test
won't be anything that I can't handle."

Soren smiled softly, "I have faith in you Xia. Still be
careful." He offered his last bit of advise softly before
taking a leap back up onto the branch. Clapping his hands
together, a rush of magic encircled the clearing. Invisible but
palpable, it settled over the area. The whole feel of the area
shifted, and it darkened despite the sun being high in the sky.
Sounds of movement could be heard from behind her to the left.

She shifted into a defense position and took a few calming
breaths. As the area darkened she turned her attention towards
the place she heard movement. She'd figure out her strategy once
she saw or knew what she'd be facing.

From behind her the long grass was rustling. A low growl echoed
through the darkness, but there was something more. The
faintest of cries flitted on the breeze. Dark red eyes stared
back at her through the darkness.

"I'll need to get distance if I want a chance at getting rid of
them" she thought and ran towards the area the red eyes were
watching from but quickly veered off to the right. She knew she
was agile enough to evade most attacks but close combat was
never her specialty.

The pair of eyes followed Luxia as she took off. The rustling
grew louder as she moved, the cries more pained. A second pair
of eyes joined in with the first, then a third. Ivory teeth
shone in the darkness as one of the pairs of eyes chased her.

She swung herself up onto a tree branch, she crouched down and
watched the creature. A white glow began to surround her "I
summon the flames in which to burn my enemies." the glow
intensified as she used her summoning magic. As it died down she
felt a faint heat to her left and glanced to the small fire
fairy floating beside her, awaiting her commands. She pointed at
the area the creature was watching from "Surround it in flames,
I wish for it to have no hiding place." she muttered.
The fairy nodded at her command and flew up into the air. Small
orbs of fire formed on the ends of her wings before shooting off
to the ground, setting the surrounding area ablaze. "Keep the
fire controlled, don't let it spread too far." Luxia said and
stood up.

As the fire began to burn, the creature let out a roar, bearing
its teeth. As its hiding place was destroyed it revealed its
form. A great cat, larger than a standard human male, its eyes
were blood red. It looked much like a jaguar, but its coat was
black with deep red markings. Its eyes locked on the girl in
the tree, and it's tail flicked in aggravation. As its roar
pierced the darkness, the other two sets of eyes began to move
quickly towards her. The pained cries continued and increased
as the fire burned.

The fairy flew down and floated beside her. She looked at the
large cat creature and jumped to a higher branch. The fires
vanished, leaving the empty burnt forest. She pointed her staff
at the creature "Keep it busy." she muttered and the fairy began
firing several fireballs at the creature. She turned and jumped
to another tree "Another creature and something possibly being
attacked, I'll need to choose my next summons wisely." she
thought, heading in the direction she heard the pained noises.
