From the sands of sadness [Luxia and Soren]

As the sun began to set, the only sound that had been able to be
heard for a while. Recently the sound had changed, from a
canter in the sand, to the steady beat against solid ground as
the Jungle continued to rise around them. Finally reaching a
stream amidst the trees Soren slowed the horse so that it may
hydrate, and he could look around. With a soft look, he checked
on Xia.

She was awake, starring out at the lands with a frown on her
face.

Sighing softly Soren peered around. Seeing a cave near the
river, he hopped down off the horse. Leading it to the cave, he
secured the bridle to a sturdy rock, and set the saddle bags and
wrapped object on the ground. He then offered a hand to Luxia.
"We should rest mistress." He said quietly, reverting to
formalities knowing Xia was likely still furious with him.

She glanced at his hand, ignoring the offer she hopped down and
stumbled a bit from her exhaustion. "Don't call me that, I hate
when you call me that." she mumbled. She grabbed his sleeve and
kept her gaze on the ground.

He sighed and frowned softly as she hopped down. "I'm sorry
Xia." He said quietly as she grabbed his sleeve. He put a
comforting hand on her shoulder and bent down to pick up a
leather flask and looked at the river. "Some water might do you
some good. I can go get some." He offered softly.

She shook her head, holding onto tighter to his sleeve "I'm not
thirsty..."

He sighed softly and walked the two of them to a clear spot in
the cave. Making a gesture that was an offer to sit, he kept
her close. "Would you sit? You are going to need the rest
Xia."

She sat down and pulled her knees up to her chest. "What will we
do now, and when can we go back home? I wanna go home Soren."

He sighed and sat down cross legged next to her. "We can't go
home right now, it's not safe." He looked at her as he ran a
hand through his hair. "For now.....we will keep you safe, and
we will work. Work to be able to go back, to be able to drive
the demon's back, so that we can go home."

She wrapped her arms around her knees "Why did they attack, I
don't understand. What did mother and father do, they are kind
to everyone so why did they die?" she hid her face in her knees
as she started to cry softly. "Everyone in the castle is nice,
they didn't do anything to get hurt..."
