She tensed and moved her head so could peer up at him "Demons?!
What do we do, we have to help mother and father before
something bad happens!" she said, holding onto him tighter in
her panic.

Soren's voice was steady, laced with worry and strategy. "We
will go see to help Xia, but you will not enter the room unless
I say so." Feeling her squeeze her tighter he shook his head,
this was a bad Idea, but he knew she wouldn't turn without
checking her parents. With a mind of worries, and a heart
racing in panic he lead the two of them to her parents room.

She buried her face back into his side and tried to calm down
and think rationally I shouldn't be worried, everything will be
okay. After all father is a skilled fighter and mother carries
the staff and is wonderful at summoning. They'll be okay and I'm
jsut worrying for nothing.

They came to a stop outside the king and queens room. On the
other side, labored breathing could be heard. There was a small
hidden alcove to one side, which Soren's eyes landed on
immediately. "Xia, please, stay in the alcove. I will check
first, I need you to be safe."

She frowned and held onto him "I don't want to hide, I want to
stay with you and see that mother and father are okay!" she said
and shook her head.

Soren frowned and attempted to move her into the alcove. "I
know you don't want to hide. I just want to make sure they are
okay first. Xia please." He turned from her and opened the
door.

She watched him carefully as he turned and opened the door.
Silently she slid out of the alcove and quickly dashed passed
him into the room.

A few large figures, indistinguishable as to what they were
stood around in a circle. Dropplets of blood spattered the
floor. As soon as the mint tinged hair attempted to stream past
him, Soren had his arms around her, a soft hand covering her
eyes. "Xia!" Was all he said, but his tone said it all.
Holding her off the ground, he bent and picked something up
before taking off at a sprint down the hallway.

She struggled to get out of his grasp "NO we have to go back!"
she yelled, tears forming. "We need to make sure mother and
father are okay, go back Soren, go back."

Hugging the young heiress close in his one arm, clutching the
object in another, wrapping it in fabric. "Xia, we can't go
back. They are gone, we need to get you out of here. I made a
promise to your parents to protect you, and protect you is what
I'm going to do."
