"Oh Soren what's going on. Looks like something happened, we
should go investigate." she said, wanting any excuse to skip
lessons but honestly curious about what was happening. Without
waiting for a reply she took off towards the commotion.

As Luxia took off ahead of him, Soren's eyes immediately
widened. A few long strides and he was at her side, then ahead
of her. As they went to round the next corner, he got a quick
glance before her, and quickly stopped her from turning.

what's going on." she whined and struggled to look past him.

His eyes were serious, as he held her by her shoulders. He
peered around the corner a second time and then shook his head.
"Something is not right Luxia." Sounds of a scuffle could be
heard coming around the corner.

"What's happening, is it an attack?! Are the guards fighting
someone, did all servants vacate the area if not then they might
need help. We can't stand here and not help!" she said worriedly
and bit her lip as she struggled to get past him.

Soren gave her a stern worried look. He knew how the young girl
was, he knew she wouldn't be convinced to turn around and go
back. "We will go, but you will listen to what I say. If I say
run, we will run. If I say close your eyes, you will. Xia, I
am not asking this."

She frowned and nodded "Fine..." she muttered, though she knew
she'd break those rules if meant someone had to suffer. If there
was one thing she couldn't do it was leave someone to be hurt
without trying to prevent it.

Reluctantly Soren nodded and took her hand. They turned the
corner and began a quick jog up the hallway. The hallway was
empty, save for the stray servant who had been working in the
areas near the kings and queens chamber. As they drew nearer, a
few lifeless forms lay in the hallway. Biting his lip Soren
looked to Xia before they got too close. "Xia, close your
eyes."

She stared at the corpse, tears forming in her eyes before she
grabbed his hand, holding it tight. She shut her eyes and buried
her face in his side "Mother and father....their room is down
the hall..." she mumbled softly.

"I know Xia, I know." The worry was buried in his voice. Of
course he was worried for the king and queen, but they had
guards. He was worried for Luxia's safety, he didn't want to
lead her into danger. He lead her on, keeping her face buried
in his side. One pained sound of footsteps could be heard
approaching from behind them. Quickly another voice began to
speak, another of the guards, heading to help at royal chambers.
"Soren, there are demons in the castle."
