Reduction to OTJT calculated hours
By: SamuelMayes Date: July 17, 2019, 8:30 am

Hi all,
Message to all learners across all cohorts this morning
17/07/2019.
"I’m writing to you to advise you that following a review of the
20% Off the Job training element of your programme by the
Education, Skills and Funding Agency (ESFA), there has been a
change to the way the 20% is calculated. The impact of this
change is a reduction to the number of hours you will need to
complete.
We are in the process of implementing this change across all
e-track portfolios and communicating the change to your skills
coach. Please note that this will not affect the OTJT event
information that you have already recorded on your e-track. You
should continue to log your off the job learning as usual."
The calculation has changed because the hours are calculated on
contracted hours and the length of programme from start to
Gateway, minus holiday entitlement up to a maximum of 28 days
(include bank holidays).
Previously this included contracted hours, against the full
timeline of the programme, for example, 18 months for Level 4.
What questions do you have?
Sam

Hi all,
In light of the post above - you may be able to edit the
calculated hours whilst Sara and Amelia update this.
Please do not to change any data on e-track, by all means bring
any anomalies to the attention of either Sara or Amelia.
What questions do you have?

If a learner has already completed the OTJ hours ahead of target
(in 8-10 months), can he/she stop updating any more OTJ hours?

Great question.
The apprenticeship programme is a continuous 15-18 month journey
of learning.
It's fine to exceed the calculated hours if they have learnt
more than the minimum hours.
If no OTJT learning happens after they have met their target,
that is also fine.
