The importance of Level 2 Maths and English (or equivalent)

Hi all,
The only accepted functional skills exemption qualifications in
Maths and English are GCSE or A level (or international
equivalent - Tammy can check this for you).
This is because these qualifications are stand alone subject
specific.
Contrast this to a learner Chakshay has... this learner has a
Masters in English. It's not acceptable for exemption. They have
to enter diagnostic testing.
Contrast this to a learner Maria has... this learner cannot find
their GCSE certificate. They have to get a replacement - even
though HR would have checked them as part of pre-screening /
referencing. Else, they have to enter diagnostic testing.
This is an Apprenticeship standard requirement and not Fitch
Learning's.
I hope this helps.
Sam

Hi Sam/All - so just to confirm, if within eTrack a learner is
marked as 'exempt' under functional skills for english and maths
then they do not need to worry about the BKSB process?
thanks

Hi Matt,
That's right.
Provided Tammy has seen sight of the GCSE or equivalent, she
marks these elements down as exempt on e-track.
I hope that helps.
Sam
