       Vermontsnow of WindClan
   DIR By: Whiskey
       Date: November 25, 2012, 2:40 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Name. Vermontkit | Vermontpaw | Vermontsnow
       Age. 12 moons
       Alliance. WindClan
Rank. Applying for Medicine Cat Apprentice.
       Gender. Female
Appearance. Vermontpaw is a beautiful ragdoll she - cat. She is
slim and silky furred, aqua eyes gleaming with intelligence and
passion for her job. She is a seal lynx mink with striking
markings and somewhat long fur. Her ears are rimmed with black
and have small tufts on their tips. She has a deformity in her
front left foreleg, making it weak and unsteady. At some points,
it fails completely and she falls to the ground, unable to gain
control over it. Despite her disability, she is a completely
       capable medicine cat.
Vermontsnow has light brown forelegs, leading into a creamy fur
with a tabby - like marking on her forehead. Her teeth are not
as sharp as she would want them to be, and her disabled leg is
missing three claws. She is small - framed and not a great
fighter, though she can hunt very well.
The she - cat is overall beautiful, and even if she isn't
allowed to have a mate, she is admired by many a tom.
Personality. Vermontpaw is playful and passionate of her job.
She dreams of finding a cure a black cough, the worse type of
illness a medicine cat has to treat, because the patient rarely
survives. Though she has lost cats before, she is optimistic of
her and never gives up, no matter what the circumstances. She
absolutely adores kits and finds joy in visiting newborns. The
she - cat likes to take long walks in the territory, only half
of the time actually searching for herbs.
She is very loyal and devoted to WindClan, but she does have a
mean streak. After a long day of work, she is crabby and snaps
easily. At times, she is grumpier than the elders. When this
happens, she sneaks out and sits outside, staring into the sky
and whispering her prayers to StarClan. Despite her name,
Vermontpaw hates cold weather, mainly because that means snow,
which she doesn't like because it melts and sticks to her thick
fur, making her damp for days.
Despite Vermontsnow's young age, the she - cat is very wise. She
can decipher the meaning of prophecies pretty well, and she
loves to figure out puzzles. Playful and extremely sweet,
Vermontsnow is a popular she - cat in the Clan.
History. It was a cold, snowy day in leaf - bare when Vermontkit
was born. Her siblings didn't survive the cold weather, and
Vermontkit was left as an only child. Even so, she had two
adoring parents who always encouraged her, even if they were a
bit overprotective. Though she loved her father, she had a very
close bond with her mother. They were almost always together.
This bond gave her a kind heart towards everyone, and she became
a popular kit in the nursery. She was fascinated by the tales of
told by the elders, and she was a favorite among them. Polite
       and nice, everyone adored her.
In her apprenticeship, tragedy struck. Her father died in
battle, leaving Vermontpaw's mother grieving for moons.
Vermontpaw wanted to cheer her mother up, so she dragged her out
to go hunting with her. Her mother half - heartedly caught three
voles, not seeming to want to be there. Vermontpaw was proud of
her mother, and as they started their journey home, they began
talking, not paying attention to the scent of another animal
following them. Just as Vermontpaw turned to dig up her fresh -
kill, a fox attacked her mother. She turned to find her mother
lying limp on the ground. Vermontpaw was startled to find a fox
leaning over her mother, and she angrily lunged towards the fox.
As she landed, her leg gave out for the first time. She was able
to get up after a few moments, and she attacked the fox. It ran
away after she bit it's neck, but her mother was on her way to
StarClan. Before she died, she croaked to her daughter, "You
will be a great WindClanner, my sweet Vermontpaw."
Brokenhearted, Vermontpaw limped back to camp, dragging her
       mother's carcass along.
After Vermontpaw realized her weak leg had stopped her from
saving her mother, she trained to become a medicine cat to heal
cats like her mother, loyal and young, not deserving to die.
Eventually Vermontpaw became a great medicine cat apprentice,
       and she fulfilled her dream.
Role Play sample. A brisk wind ruffled the seal lynx mink's
thick, silky fur as she opened her aqua eyes slowly. Vermontpaw
shook herself and padded out of her warm, herb - smelling den
and into the chilled camp. Frost clung to the grass and
transferred to her grey - brown paws as she walked to the fresh
       - kill pile. She grabbed a mouse and ran back to her den, making
sure not to put too much pressure on her weak leg. When
Vermontpaw reached the den, she curled her groomed tail and
began dissecting the mouse with a steady paw. She slowly pulled
the tiny stomach out and gently placed it on a piece of moss.
She squeezed the bile out of the miniature stomach and wrapped
the moss around it. It was time to check the elders for ticks,
after all, and she rarely found an elder without one or two.
Flexing her claws, the she - cat padded to the corner of her den
and placed the mouse bile next to the garlic, which usually
helped to mask the terrible scent. They don't call it mouse bile
for nothing, Vermontpaw thought as she gagged, backing away from
the bile. She turned to leave and search for herbs to clear her
       nostrils.
As she padded deeper into the plains, a familiar scent flooded
her senses. Her eyes watered as the stench of fox grew stronger.
Vermontpaw was caught in a repeating nightmare, the scent of
blood and fox, then a limp body of a cat that Vermontpaw knew
       all too well.
"No! Watch out!" This is what Vermontpaw had screamed out before
she lunged to the fox and lost her balance, only able to watch
       her mother's gruesome death.
The she - cat sighed as she remembered that fateful day. "If she
hadn't died, I may not have become a medicine cat apprentice,"
she muttered. The she - cat shook her head, getting into
fighting stance. Just as she was about to lunge into the bushes
and attack, a tiny fox poked their snout out. She couldn't
orphan the baby fox, so she turned and padded home, a broad
smile on her maw as she realized that WindClan was always going
to be there, waiting for her to come home.
