       1868- 11:30 p.m. (2330 hrs) Poplar Alley near State Street.
       .(Present location is Fisher Plaza-western approach to the State
       St. Bridge) Frame building containing patterns of J. Bay & Bro.
       Foundry destroyed.  Nearby dwellings sustained some damage. A
       cleaning house of the W.O. Hickok Eagle Works opposite, was
       scorched.  Bay loss estimated at $3,000, with an overall loss of
       $6,000.   Incendiarism suspected.  This was the second major
       arson fire within seven days in this area of the old Eighth
       ward.
