Vegas sandwich shop owner facing arson charge
The Associated Press
Thursday, March 17, 2011 | 7:17 a.m.
The 43-year-old owner of a downtown Las Vegas sandwich shop is
accused of arson in a two-alarm blaze that destroyed four
businesses in a commercial building on a busy corner near
courthouses.
Jail records show Hans E. Aareskjold (AR'-es-cold) was being
held Thursday pending a court appearance following his arrest
Wednesday on a first-degree arson charge.
Las Vegas fire spokesman Tim Szymanski (zim-ANN'-skee) says
Aareskjold was found to be responsible for the early-morning
Feb. 9 blaze at the building at Las Vegas Boulevard at
Bonneville Avenue.
Details weren't made public, pending Aareskjold's initial
appearance Friday in Las Vegas Justice Court.
No one was injured. But the roof caved in, and the Strip
Sandwich shop, two bail bonds businesses and a law office were
badly damaged.
