Fire burns Encino home of former Mouseketeer Annette Funicello,
       neighbors say
       Comments (2) (15)(23)March 10, 2011 | 2:57 pm The Encino home
of ailing actress Annette Funicello caught fire Thursday,
sending three occupants to the hospital as a precaution.
Apparently no one suffered any fire-related injuries, according
to the Los Angeles Fire Department. It was unclear if Funicello
was among the occupants taken to the hospital.
Property records for the 3,600-square-foot house do not list
Funicello as the owner, but neighbors told The Times and KCAL-TV
Channel 9 news that the famous former Mouseketeer and teen
heartthrob has lived there for years.
Video of the fire-damaged interior showed memorabilia, such as
       Funicello movie posters.
Firefighters who received the call at 7:21 a.m. found the home
in the 3100-block of North Fond Drive substantially engulfed in
flames, which they extinguished in less than 30 minutes, said
Tina Haro, a spokeswoman for the Fire Department.
Cindy Harlem, a neighbor who saw the firetrucks approach, said
she saw several residents watching from outside, including a
woman who appeared to be Funicello in a rolling wheelchair or
bed. Funicello, who is in her late 60s, has multiple sclerosis.
Authorities would not provide any information about the
residents, but investigators were present to determine what
caused the fire. No damage estimate was available.
