Two morning fires damaged homes in Las Vegas and North Las
Vegas, displacing seven people from one residence, fire
officials said.
About 5 a.m., a neighbor alerted a family living at 3544
Lonesome Drum St. in North Las Vegas to a fire in their garage,
fire officials said.
North Las Vegas Fire Capt. Cedric Williams said the fire gutted
the garage and caused smoke damage throughout the rest of the
house.
No one was injured. Three children and four adults in the house
escaped unharmed, he said.
Firefighters knocked down the fire within five minutes and
contained it within 45 minutes, Williams said. It's unclear what
caused the fire.
Fire officials haven't released a damage estimate for the home.
About an hour earlier, Clark County firefighters battled another
house fire at 4779 Woodland Ave., near Vegas Valley Drive and
Nellis Boulevard in the eastern valley.
County fire spokesman Dan Kulin said the fire gutted the
two-story home, causing $200,000 in damage.
No one was inside the house at the time of the fire, and it's
unknown whether anyone was living there, he said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
