Black Creek Labs is exiting Canada’s semi-auto rifle market
after politicians and police banned the company’s flagship
product under mass confiscations to weaken citizens and cripple
the firearm industry.
Key Quote
Black Creek Labs “has made the decision to halt all research,
development and manufacturing of semi-automatic rifles made
specifically for the Canadian commercial market,” the
Peterborough, Ontario-based manufacturer said on its website.
Details
The prime minister on May 1 ordered the immediate
prohibition pending confiscation of more than 125,000 firearms,
including Black Creek Labs’s bestselling BCL102 rifle. It is now
a crime to use, buy, sell, import or transport any of them.
The BCL102, chambered in .308 Winchester and fed by AR-10
ammunition magazines, is owned by thousands of hunters, farmers,
ranchers, sport shooters and collectors.
The federal police is working in secret to prohibit even
more rifles, shotguns and components, including ones made by
Black Creek Labs.
Why It Matters
Black Creek Labs is the newest casualty of the governing
Liberal Party’s attacks against Canada’s 4,400 federally
licensed firearm businesses and 2.2 million individuals.
The party’s arbitrary actions against honest citizens,
assisted by the police, violate fundamental principles of
ethics, justice, the rule of law and parliamentary democracy.
Black Creek Labs Statement
Following a strategic review of the current Canadian
political environment as it relates to the recent firearms
prohibition and the reclassification of many semi-automatic
sporting rifles, Black Creek Labs has made the decision to halt
all research, development and manufacturing of semi-automatic
rifles made specifically for the Canadian commercial market.
After the recent firearms prohibition instituted by the
Canadian Government and the subsequent, incoherent and
unexpected ban on the SLR Receiver sets (SLR Coyote) and many
other rifles two weeks after the initial Order in Council, Black
Creek Labs has determined that the risk and challenges facing
Canadian firearms manufacturers is too great to continue any
type of further investment in that market.
“Although it greatly saddens us to be forced to stop making
semi-automatic rifles for the Canadian commercial market, we are
excited about our strategic transformation and will divert all
available resources to the development of products for export
sales including the European and U.S. commercial markets and
Military and Law Enforcement sales around the world. We will
keep a close eye on the Canadian political landscape and the
specific regulations pertaining to the classification of
semi-automatic rifles and if there is a positive change, we will
be well positioned to immediately start servicing the great
people of Canada again.” [CEO] Rob MacIntyre
