Operation Location: Fallujah
Operation Objective: Take the outskirts and south eastern side
of the city of Fallujah
Operation Outcome: Success
Operation Description: A convoy consisting of one M1 Abrams, 1
Infantry MRAP, and 1 Command MRAP moved from the Airfield FOB to
the outskirts of the city clearing them out before moving into
the city itself. Few casualties were taken in the outskirts.
BLUFOR forces had a few objectives such as; Clear the outskirts,
Take the south eastern side of Fallujah, save civilian hostages,
save Iraqi Army hostages, and keep collateral damage to a
minimal. The outskirts were cleared relatively easily and
friendly forces pushed into the town itself. At this point the
Command MRAP was destroyed and the operation Command staff
returned to base and grabbed a new MRAP. Frontline troops
proceeded to enter the town rescuing all hostages. At this point
friendly forces pulled out due to a rising number of casualties
and air support proceeded to take out the remaining enemies
causing little collateral damage. Air support returned to base
and the frontline troops established an FOB. Operation COmmand
Staff then entered the newly formed FOB in a blackhawk and took
a situation report before calling the mission a success.
