A history of Blockedo

There was once a town in the middle of nowhere called Blockedo.
No one lived there except two families who lived two miles
apart. There was in downtown Blockedo a barbershop, a mercantile
and a saloon run by out-of-towners. No one ever went to the
saloon but out-of-towners. The two families who lived in
Blockedo went to get their hair cut and to shop for goods at the
store and the barbershop. The two families lived quiet lives.
They home-schooled their children. One family had seven boys and
one girl. The other family had seven girls and one boy. A church
was built and the Patriarch of the Eldon family was made
Minister of it. The Patriarch of the Mitchell family was its
Bishop. Eventually the seven girls married the seven boys and
the boy married the girl, and more houses had to be built to
accommodate the many families that resulted in these couplings.
Still no one but out-of-towners ever went to the saloon. There
was no violence in this town. In 1897 a third family with 12
children, 6 boys and 6 girls, moved in to town and built a
house. Eventually these 12 boys and girls married some of the
children of the children of the town's previous inhabitants.
Others of the town's previous inhabitants' grandchildren
traveled abroad to seek a marriage partner and each of them
brought home someone from out of town, married them, and had
more children. The town grew and grew. The home-schooling
tradition continued. Today you won't find Blockedo on a map. All
of its houses were abandoned and its people emigrated to new
places. Blockedo's buildings are relics of a simpler time. But
if you go to Blockedo, you will find a quietness and a peace
about its buildings, though abandoned for long years. Why was
Blockedo abandoned? No one knows. But it may have something to
do with the town's low sea level making it a bit too cool for
many people's tastes, and partial flooding in heavy rainfall.
The descendants of the Blockedoans are all very blessed and
well-to-do people, most very spiritual and religious. They are
scattered throughout the globe, spreading peace and good-will
wherever they go.

Does Blockedo actually exist? No. There are no Blockedoans, nor
descendants of them. The history I wrote is fictional. But I
wonder if there were any frontier towns in America like
Blockedo? It is an interesting concept.
