Full Round 1 Results:
Penguin022: I really enjoyed this! I think your description
should've been more confident, I don't like that you were just
talking about everything wrong with your playlist. I want to be
wowed, acknowledgement of flaws won't make your playlist any
better, advertise the playlist to me. Your tracklist was pretty
stacked, I liked how consistent the retro pop vibe was, I
thought it helped make the playlist feel more intimate. Although
I agree that your playlist didn't have much "mystery" to it, the
murder elements were very strong and the vibe was consistent
enough that I started to create a story in my head. I thought
most of your transitions were good (I didn't even notice there
was one between tracks 3 and 4, I thought it was the same song),
with the only exception being the transition between the last
couple tracks. One of my biggest problems with the playlist was
the last track, when I thought the playlist took a nosedive, I
didn't think it had much to do with the theme, and it felt
tacked on. 7.5/10
Oofis: Well this was a surprise, to say the least! This was a
riveting playlist from pretty much start to finish, and I think
your interpretation of this theme was solid too. First off, I
don’t exactly know how you thought Run was your weakest
song, I actually thought it worked excellently within your
narrative, that was absolutely a highlight. Creeper has some
nice detailed lyricism which I appreciated, and Save Your Tears
and Westfall were also good choices. Somebody Got Murdered did
what it had to do lyrically, but it was just annoying to sit
through, wasn’t into that. Overall your flow was good, as
was your interpretation, so I’m feeling a light to decent
8.
KitKats: Your album flowed together well and I liked how you
added a bunch of various genres and made it flow together very
well: Classic Rock, R&B, Indie Rock, Synthetic Beats, Mainstream
Pop, Alternative Folk Rock. Overall you chose good songs, and
your lyrics ended up working out well for the most, but I
don’t think you included a lot of the Mystery component.
The vibe of “somebody got murdered” was also too
upbeat for my liking relative to the theme. Your cover art was
very good, honestly gave me cardiovascular muscle cell vibes. I
liked all your songs. 8/10

Penguin022: Great album cover, and pretty good description, as
long as it was. I thought the Lorde song was a good opening,
although the transition following it was a little weird. I
thought the rest of the transitions were pretty good though. I
liked your pop song > video game song pattern, although I
thought using two different songs from Far Cry was a little bit
questionable and redundant. I thought you mostly fit the theme
pretty well, I got more murder mystery vibes from listening to
it than reading about it - especially in the Avril Lavigne song.
I thought There Is Only War worked as a closer, but it wasn't
that interesting of a track itself...which was one of my
problems with the playlist itself. Although it fit the theme
pretty well, the playlist dragged and was boring a lot, which is
saying something since the playlist is only 16 minutes long.
6/10
Oofis: It started out with so much potential… and then it
all came crashing down fast. Your interpretation was unique,
splitting your playlist into 3 ‘acts’ which were
represented by two songs each. I love your concepts, but the
problem is when you divide your playlist in this way, you
sacrifice flow, and at the end of the day, that’s what
cost you. Glory and Gore, Initiation Time and Monsoon were good
song choices. Give You What You Like was a cool song, but it had
nothing to do with your theme? Also, There Is Only War was a
very anticlimactic ending, and if that’s what you were
going for, you need to have specified that in your description.
Overall you had a great original idea, but the execution was not
pretty. I’m feeling a decent to strong 5.5.
KitKats: You had one of the best, if not the best album cover of
the group; all of the judges really liked it. I really liked you
how described your playlist and divided it into three separate
acts; it was evident you put careful thought and consideration
when crafting it. I really like “It’s Initiation
Time”, and thought the intensity and suspense was fitting
for this theme. Although your third song does have a mysterious
creepy vibe, I personally just felt like the transition did not
live up to the hype set up by Song 2. Song 2 had the most
intensity and build-up, but then “bury a friend”
felt a bit anticlimactic to me. Personally did not like
“There Is Only War”, but your description did a good
job incorporating it into your album. Although it was
mysterious, it did not give off a mysterious *regretful* vibe;
instead it gave me the “I am about to commit another
murder; there will soon be more war and chaos” initiation
kind of vibe. Also want to note that you did a good job of
making a “pop song – video game instrumental”
pattern back and forth throughout, which I found interesting!
6.5/10

Penguin022: I thought all of the LogicallyLogical records stuff
was funny and original, nice touch adding it to the album cover
(even though I don't understand the image on the cover). I
thought most of the transitions worked pretty well, aside from
the last two. I have no idea how most of the songs fit the theme
lol, aside from maybe Smooth Criminal, but why was it the Glee
version? I thought it would've worked better with the original
track. Jenny Was A Friend of Mine was also a good closer,
despite the awkward transition, I thought the lyrics did feel
like a murder mystery and your explanation made the most sense
there. 5/10
Oofis: Fitting title, I was also conflicted on this playlist.
When I listened to it I only had your first description to go
by, but your second description helped me understand better why
you chose your songs. Quarter After Midnight and Smooth Criminal
were great selections. I was a bit skeptical of you using a Glee
cover (especially with it being so minimalist compared to your
other tracks), but it actually worked in your favour, which was
cool. Torn and So Am I didn’t fit for this theme at all, I
get that you linked the psycho murderer mindset to the titles,
but the actual songs themselves didn’t convey that. I
understand your inclusion of the final 2 tracks, they just
weren’t my favourite, that’s all. Overall it was a
solid effort across the board, I’m feeling a decent to
strong 6.
KitKats: Your cover art was cool, but I felt like it could have
been better without all that many watermarks. Your playlist
wasn’t sloppily pasted together, but I don’t think
it fit the vibe for a murder mystery. When I listened to it, it
gave me happy memories of me vibing and going on long road trips
with friends matter of fact! I don’t have much of a
problem with the songs you chose, since I think you and I
probably have a more similar taste in the type of music we
listen to than anyone else. Like some other playlists included
more upbeat songs, but overall, the vibe of the playlist as a
whole was a lot more fitting. 5.5/10

Penguin022: I thought your playlist was a little all over the
place. Your first song set the tone pretty well but was super
irritating. Another One Bites The Dust made more sense in the
tracklist, but was a little jarring next to My Oh My, they felt
like completely different playlists. The Mario song made me
laugh but it did make sense in the tracklist. Some of your
transitions worked, some didn't. Your fifth track was also
seemingly out of nowhere, it seemed mysterious for the first
five seconds and then immediately took a nosedive. I even read
the description to see if it fit the theme in any way and I
still don't understand. Your entire tracklist felt a little all
over the place, and although it wasn't unenjoyable, the playlist
often felt pretty messy, and you could hear some of the
messiness in the transitions as well. 4/10
Oofis: I think the question marks following your title sum up my
thoughts on this playlist: ...that was a murder mystery themed
playlist?? Well okay, that’s not fair, I do see where
you’re getting at with the whole song-by-song narrative,
but most of these songs really didn’t match the
description you gave them. I didn’t see any connection to
the theme with My Oh My or Nowhere Man, for example. Whenever
Wherever was a hilarious choice that entertained me for a
minute. Another One Bites The Dust was blocked in my country, I
know the song obviously but it’s just something I’d
like to point out. Overall, the playlist flowed alright which
saves it from atrocity, but this wasn’t my favourite
playlist I heard today. I’m feeling a strong 3.5 to a
light 4.
KitKats: Your song lyrics did not match up to your description.
It was funny how you made Super Mario Odyssey the song signally
the culprit chase. It’s also good to know that the culprit
can be found wherever, whenever. 1.5/10

Penguin022: Wooooah, alright I really liked this one. The tone
of the playlist was great, very consistent and fit the theme
perfectly. Without reading the description, I was able to get
the murder mystery vibes (aside for a couple hiccups), and
reading the description gave me another story I really liked the
opening track, it set the stage well for what was to come. The
way you executed the murder was brilliant, and was very smooth
in the tracklist. My only gripes were there were a few times I
thought your playlist drifted too far away from the mystery
aspects, and I thought Body Electric felt a bit like filler
(even though it was one of the more mysterious songs in the
tracklist). Also, shoutout for using Leader of the Delinquints
as a great finisher. 8.5/10
Oofis: Obviously I don’t have the full context for this
playlist, since I wasn’t a part of the murder mystery game
that it’s based on, but listening to this, it felt like I
learned everything. Your first four songs were perfect for this
theme - To Binge had that real nursery-rhyme-esque horror vibe
that can seem like a cop out at times, but in the context of
your playlist it really clicked, as did Questioning My Mind and
Body Electric. The final two tracks were fine, although they did
drag it out a bit more than necessary. Overall this was a great
listen that had me intrigued throughout, I’m feeling a
strong 8 to a light 8.5.
KitKats: You had some great transitions throughout your album,
and thus, this was one of my favorites! You incorporated a lot
of different styles within your playlist, and I liked how you
managed to insert the Dangan Ronpa death discovery sound within
your album. I think your lyrics definitely fit the small beach
town vibe at the beginning, and my favorite part is how you
ended up placing the song Body Electric (loved its gloomy
mysterious vibes), and then introduced the DR murder soundtrack
right after, with cackling static electricity effects. Your
transition between 4-5 was very nice because Risingson also
included subtle static-y muffled sounds in the background, and
fit the mysterious theme also. Usually wouldn’t think the
hip-hop style would fit this theme’s vibe as well, but the
ominous background tunes made it very fitting here!
8.5/10

Penguin022: I thought this playlist was decent. It had a
consistent vibe, a good suspenseful start, some great
transitions, and a somewhat mysterious vibe, but I didn't get
that much murder at all. Although the vibe was super consistent,
tracks began to run together a little too much. None of the
tracks stood out, and although it was mostly easy listening I
didn't get a whole lot out of it, although I liked it. The
playlist fit the theme alright, with the last track fitting
best. 6.5/10
Oofis: i loved how dark and intense this playlist was, the whole
way through. your description gave me a good indication of what
you wanted us to get out of the playlist. your choice - connor
and we appreciate power were brilliant song choices for this
theme. but there are some flaws, for example, drink i'm sippin
on just seemed a bit too conventional and didn't fit with your
other songs. also i'm not exactly sure what all the hype around
that carmen song is, it works okay but did i miss some context
surrounding that song? overall, there were a few issues but i
liked this playlist. i'm feeling a decent to strong 7.
KitKats: Your introduction was spot on and fitting; I think it
fit the tension you described almost perfectly, and I love the
instrumentals. I also liked your transition between 1-2 because
of the tense and mysterious nature of both songs’
instrumentals. However, I thought Exxus and drink I’m
sippin on didn’t fit the tension, chaos, and associated
with a murder. Although they gave off mysterious vibes, it did
not feel really tense to me. With that being said, things start
getting tense in Track 5, and I really liked it. You definitely
posed a chaotic ending in your final track, and I do like the
last note you chose to end your playlist on. The final track was
chaotic and mysterious, which I found fitting, given it matched
your description too. 8/10

Penguin022: I really enjoyed this playlist. I thought the indie
vibe served your playlist well, because it fit the theme while
also being consistent and listenable. I thought the playlist fit
the theme best in the middle, when it felt the most cinematic.
The Pink Floyd song was specifically a good choice, I could tell
the murder was happening there, and the track itself was super
trippy, and I really liked the transition into the Radiohead
song. Lyrically it fit the theme really well and was super
listenable. My issues with the playlist included the first and
last track. I thought Tin fit the playlist, but ultimately it
didn't sound like it fit the theme much, and I thought your last
track fizzled out a little too long, I was starting to become
impatient. Although I liked the general vibe, I think you can
make it fit the theme a bit more too. 7.5/10
Oofis: Well this was certainly something, I’ll give you
that! I think the main thing keeping this from greatness is the
sound - you description gave me a good sense of your intentions,
and on a lyrical level this was quite potent… but
sonically I really didn’t hear the ‘murder
mystery’ of it all. Tin and On The Run were the standout
tracks, as these are the songs that ramped it up with some
darker intensity that fit well. Songs like As Heaven Is Nice and
Idioteque were just too bright and chipper and they kinda ruined
the vibe. Something I noticed was an awful transition between As
Heaven Is Nice and On The Run, and I think that could have been
avoided had you been more careful with your sequencing. Overall,
the playlist had a ton of potential, but there were a couple of
missteps that brought it down. I’m feeling a light to
decent 6.5.
KitKats: Thank you for explaining by song. It was long, but I
managed to read everything and found it helpful! You put a very
good perspective to your playlist by taking inspiration from how
a vinyl LP is divided, and did a good job at contrasting the
mindset between the murderer versus a victim at the beginning. I
also thought the lyrics of Permanent High School were tied in
nicely because it reflected the accusatory and doubtful nature
of investigations in general (like what you said), but the vibe
of the song did not match this as well for me. The transition
between Tracks 2-3 and Tracks 4-5 were choppy and weak, and
those were some of my biggest concerns, along with the fact that
Idioteque felt a bit out of place as the lyrics did not fit in,
and the transitions going into it had some issues (the last note
of On the Run did not finish, despite being very very faint, and
it immediately went into Idioteque). As for the transition
between Track 2 and 3, it probably was the best you could have
done given the song choices, but still just did not like the
“1 2 3---[On the Run]” part. Overall, the song
choices were good, and you did a great job conveying the
tension/panic/mania associated with a murder, but I wish there
was a bigger mystery component. 7/10

Penguin022: This was by far the most chilling and graphic
playlist I've listened to. The opening track was a very menacing
and chilling song that was a good starter. The transition
between this song and the next was a little clunky, but it felt
purposeful, which I liked. Track 12 was really surreal, it
served its purpose really well, super trippy (although a little
long). The whole playlist was very cinematic, especially with
the sudden transitions. Check out the film Waves if you haven't
a lot of this playlist reminded me of the first half of that
film (you'll see what I mean if you watch it). I loved how
atmospheric it was, although I thought it might be a liiiittle
too psychological at times if that makes sense? Like quite a bit
more murder that murder mystery in my opinion. Your fifth track
was also a bad pick, it was consistent with the rest of the
playlist but it felt too redundant and was my least favourite
song in the tracklist. I also have no idea why you used that
Carti song. Overall, I liked how atmospheric it was, I just
thought it became redundant in the second half and was a little
too distant from the them. Still the GOAT of album covers
though! 6.5/10
Oofis: I’d like to assess your playlist for what it is,
but I’d much rather address the elephant in the room: One
of your songs (Track 12) was not available in my country, and
Penguin had to go to a lot of trouble to find a way for me to
listen to it. As for the rest of the playlist, it was alright I
guess? A lot of the songs sounded similar to each other (apart
from Track 12 obviously), which made for good flow, but it
didn’t feel very distinct. Overall, I believe that Penguin
and KKE will enjoy this a lot more than me, but your inclusion
of Track 12 made it hard for me to have any genuine thoughts
about your playlist. I’m feeling a light 3. Sorry.
KitKats: Your first track, despite graphic, was a very unique
and emotional way to introduce the album. I praise you for
creativity here. However, I did not like the transition between
Track 1-2; it was abrupt and Track 12 was insanely long and
dull, even though it fit your description and seemed like it
definitely paralleled the hectic thoughts following a murder. My
biggest concern with your playlist was that the vibe did fit the
theme. It had a good start, but there was a lack of the mystery
component completely. It would have been more fitting if your
album was titled MURDRR. However, given the style of music you
chose, you still made it work out according to your description,
and overall, transitions were mostly alright, so you still move
on. 5/10

Penguin022: Allllrighty, I feel bad for you because obviously
this was a difficult theme for your music tastes. I liked your
album cover a lot, and I thought the first track seemed
somewhatttt like a murder mystery track, at least from a Kpop
perspective? The transition that followed wasn't bad either.
However, from after that point, every track did not seem to
match the theme much at all. Most of the songs were fine, and it
was nice to watch the videos, but ultimately your playlist just
didn't match the theme much at all. I tried to follow along with
the nice little story you gave, but it just wasn't convincing
me. Sorry! I did enjoy the Red Velvet track tho lol.
P.S. I just realized while writing this writeup what the "sf"
was referring to in your title omg "Steenee Fan" I get it now- I
just realized while writing this review what the "sf" was
referring to in your title omg wow "Steenee Fan" I get it now
3/10
Oofis: Alright, here’s my praise: I do understand why you
might have linked these songs to a murder mystery: they said
‘mystery’ or ‘kill’ or dare I say
“Bad Boy” in the choruses. But that’s it for
any upside. When we ask you for a playlist about a murder
mystery, I want to feel like I’m physically experiencing
your story. This may sound like I’m generalizing, but K
pop simply isn’t a genre I can see ever fitting a theme of
murder mystery. Overall, you made a good effort, but this
seriously wasn’t the theme for you, and for that reason
I’m feeling a decent to strong 2.
KitKats: The album cover was spectacular and one of my favorites
of all of the competitors. However, I don’t think the
songs were fitting and that you may have misinterpreted them.
Didn’t understand what they were saying and it
doesn’t help that none of the judges fancy K-Pop. The
music videos gave off a seductive love-related vibe rather than
murder mystery, and every song gave off upbeat vibes and did not
feel mysterious at all. On the bright side, you did put effort
in your description! 2/10

Penguin022: I love how you always package your playlists like a
compilation CD, it's really fun. Killing Me Softly fit the theme
really well and was a great opening track, and the transition
into track two was very good. The second track was also great,
super fun! Your third track, It Wasn't Me, made the judges
cackle when we saw it on the tracklist, and I thought it fit the
playlist's goals of unsubtle hits about for a Whodunnit story,
it was cute. The whole straight to the point pop tune idea was
smart, and it suit the playlist well, although this means I
really have to like every track. Unfortunately, I didn't like
any of the last three tracks. I also didn't buy your explanation
for track 5 much, it took away the fun campy energy that I
enjoyed, while Breakaway was pretty distant from the theme.
6.5/10
Oofis: I got a good laugh when I saw the tracklist, and more to
the point, the link between the theme and the titles of your
songs. Now I’m personally not a fan of this approach
(I’d rather link the theme to a particular sound than a
title), but it can work if the playlist is on point. And was it?
Well actually, it worked a bit better than I thought it would.
For one, I liked that you gave a description of how each song
tied into the narrative, with Killing Me Softly and Tragedy
clicking a lot better than I thought they would. However, It
Wasn’t Me was a hilarious misfire that really killed the
momentum you had going, and the transition from Angel to
Breakaway made it feel like no attention was paid to the
sequencing. Overall it was amusing and surprisingly not
terrible, so I’m feeling a light to decent 5.
KitKats: I found it hilarious how your titles matched the theme,
and you still managed to explain everything decently well.
However, I **** up listening to It Wasn’t Me. The titles
may have fit but the tunes did not pass the vibe check. The
songs were seriously different styles, and did not fit well
together. 2.5/10

Penguin022: I loooooved your album cover. I thought I Got 5 On
It was a great opener, it felt like a fun murder mystery film
song, and the callback to Us served well. The second song was
super mysterious, I dug it. All of your transitions were great,
and you had a really consistent indie vibe that I liked (you
even got me to appreciate a Lana Del Rey song!), and I loved how
straight to the point the playlist was, although at a certain
point I felt like the theme was being lost on me, even if I was
bopping. 7.5/10
Oofis: This was a tough playlist to judge. My main problem is
that your description was a single sentence, and didn’t
tell me anything about how you want us to listen to your
playlist. That means your only way of getting a high score is
with the actual music, which can be risky, and in this
instance... I’m not sure it quite stuck the landing. I Got
5 On It and Silver were good tracks to open with, both being
hard-hitting and intense without overselling it. The remaining
four tracks didn’t really feel like a murder mystery as
much, just slow and moody for the **** of it (also I laughed out
loud as soon as I heard bellyache cause I didn’t notice it
on the tracklist lol). Overall, you hooked me in at the start,
but I had completely tapped out by the end. I’m feeling a
strong 4.5 to a light 5.
KitKats: FIRE transition between 1-2. I absolutely love it, plus
Us is a great movie. Your first two songs were very good. Both
gave off a very mysterious macabre vibe, which I loved for this
theme! Your transition between 2-3 was also very good. However,
after Track 3, the playlist didn’t start to live up to its
hype as much. Your transitions were all very good, but your
biggest problem is not having a description. I couldn’t
tell what each song meant, and it was all left up to personal
interpretation, which was hard because three of the songs
sounded very similar with the same moody, mysterious Billie
Eilish vibe. I think you have a lot of potential because this
playlist could have done so much better if you gave a
description of what each song stood for overall, as you are
being graded on not just the songs you choose. 7/10

Penguin022: The sense of humor was the best part of this
playlist, I had no idea what was going on lmao. Your description
was so unconfident it made me laugh looool and your playlists so
barely fit the theme - if at all - that it was a little bit hard
to not appreciate it. The songs were very straight to the point
and short, which worked well for your playlist since it had a
fairly short runtime. Each track seemed to be competitively
trying to be more of a reach to fit your Clue concept (which was
actually pretty original and fun). Knives Out, MONKEY WRENCH,
PIPE IT UP, HAHAHA. Revolver?! At least Eleanor Rigby seems
kinda like a murder mystery I suppose lol. I don't even want to
talk about your playlist, the description was gold. I will say
it was never boring.
P.S: I have no idea if you meant to do this but your album cover
was like the Metallica "LULU" cover. 4.5/10
Oofis: I guess you had a good idea? Basing your playlist on the
game Clue(do) was a unique idea that I was inclined to like...
but this playlist just was not it, at all. Rope was probably the
most competent song choice here, actually fitting with the whole
murder mystery vibe that we wanted. Tracks like I’m Gonna
Live Till I Die and Pipe It Up completely missed the point, I
get how you connected them to the Cluedo weapons but as far as
scoring goes, I’m more drawn to the music itself than the
context surrounding it, and when the songs are such different
styles (i.e the transition between Pipe It Up and Eleanor
Rigby), your playlist is going to suffer for it. Overall, it was
a cool idea, but this playlist was a mess. I’m feeling a
decent to strong 4.
KitKats: Okay, first things first, your description was ****
HILARIOUS. 11/10 description right there Nick. You are a ****
legend for putting Frank Sinatra, Arctic Monkeys, The Beatles,
and **** Migos in one goddamn album. Real talk, most of the
actual lyrics obviously didn’t represent the theme, and
neither did the vibe. (Come on, “Pipe It Up” to
represent a pipe and the most mainstream AM song to represent a
monkey wrench, really?) It was on par with CF18’s album,
but I will give you a higher score because your album cover and
description were a lot better. 3.5/10

Penguin022: This playlist was fantastic. Right from the opening
track, your playlist was super atmospheric with a very
intimidating opening. The transitions were amazing. During All
The Money, I was thinking "I would hire this guy to be the music
supervisor for my film damn". I loved the heartbeat trope, I'm
very familiar with it, I directed The Tell-Tale Heart for a
drama festival last year, I was very happy with how you
incorporated it in your playlist. The whole playlist reminded me
a lot of The Tell-Tale Heart. I like how you used Peter Gabriel
twice to circle back, it was very smart. The playlist went a
liiiittle too far from the theme sometimes, and your description
was super hard to follow, but it was still excellent. It wasn't
very long, you took a big risk, it had a consistent symphonic
vibe. Excellent. 9/10
Oofis: Before listening, I’d heard KKE give some praise to
you, but I must say I wasn’t expecting this. More than any
other playlist I’ve listened to, I felt like I was there,
in the moment, witnessing it all. Your description was too long
so I didn’t read it completely through, but your main
ideas were excellent, using tension and atmosphere to maximum
effect. My Body Is A Cage, All The Money, Swamp And Circumstance
and Digging In The Dirt were simply beautiful song choices, and
even the Halloween scream fit perfectly with the mood set by the
first track. Of course, there was one small flaw - I understand
why you used Heartbeat, but it felt like an unnecessary release
of tension that didn’t really add anything. Overall, I
truly loved this playlist for multiple reasons, I’m
feeling a light to decent 9.5.
KitKats: Wow. Just. Wow.
I was pretty speechless when I heard this first of all the other
judges and told them all I really really really loved it. You
had one of the most unique playlists of anyone else here. You
told a story almost perfectly with your soundtracks even though
most of them were very short, and I thought you made the songs
flow together very well. I really love how you made everything
blend together and experimented with something new! You started
it off nicely with a moody mysterious tune; similarly, the song
progresses into a more tense and desperate tune and matches the
moods experienced by someone contemplating murder. Your
description of the transition between someone’s mind
versus reality perfectly matched the transitions from Track 1
through 3. The ending of Swamp and Circumstance was spectacular,
where you described the finger point towards the murderer and
the panic. I love your insertion of Heartbeat too because the
tension was fitting. Although most of your playlist is
instrumental, your lyrics in Track 1 and Track 6 were so
fitting, and I love how it goes full circle back to the idea
that his body is a cage, cycling back to Track 1, as well as the
title, and making your playlist a complete and fulfilled
composition. 10/10

Penguin022: This was exactly the kind of submission I was
expecting to get from someone when I chose the murder mystery
concept. The opening track is PERFECT, it really did feel like
an opening for a murder mystery b-movie, I love it. I thought
the second song was a great murder mystery track but I was
surprised that I didn't like it that much as a song, since I
usually like Nick Cave. The lyrics are pretty good at
emphasizing the point tho. That being said, the song was also
too long. After this point, I mostly liked the tracks but it
started to drag a bit, it felt a little too long somehow, even
though I liked your consistent b-movie vibe. The last track
specifically felt kind of unnecessary, even if it was the
credits. I thought your playlist fit the theme both with or
without the description, although I don't think any songs
specifically won me over in a real way, even though I didn't
specifically dislike any that much either. I also wish you
incorporated the b-movie concept into your playlist album cover,
since your actual cover was lacking a bit and didn't match your
playlist that much. Missed opportunity there. 7/10
Oofis: Whodunnit??? You dunnit!!! Jokes aside, this was an all
around solid effort from you. Your description was definitely
the best of those who went for the song-by-song breakdown
approach, and you have a great sense of flow. However, I had a
few issues preventing this playlist from being more or less
perfect - first, it was definitely on the long side, which is a
hassle when I have 15 other playlists to get through (this
wasn't your fault though). Second, the spoken-word vibe is a
good fit for this theme, but it did get a bit obnoxious when
every other track featured this. Third, Is That All There Is was
just a weak song choice that dragged on a lot longer than it
should have. Overall, this playlist was good, but not quite
great. I'm feeling a decent to strong 7.5
KitKats: I LOVE your opening theme, Cecilia Ann. Honestly, it
was one of my favorite tracks in all of the playlists combined.
I also really liked Song of Joy because it gave off such a
mysterious wicked narrative vibe that you’d find a
villainous character often singing in musical theatre and sorts;
it definitely helps that you pulled this from a murder ballad
album. The instrumentals were also dope in the background.
However, I thought you started off with a lot of potential but
then, I didn’t get the mystery aspect of this theme after
track 2 or so. Your songs gave off an upbeat energetic vibe, and
didn’t feel mysterious anymore. Closing on a track
dedicated to credits also feels more like a sense of closure
rather than mystery. I personally liked the closing track
though, and thought your song choices were mostly very good
songs that I definitely enjoyed. 6.5/10

Penguin022: I love that you drew your own cover, although your
description was a little difficult to follow. - I don't have a
whole lot to say about your playlist. I thought most of the
music was alright, some transitions were better than others, but
my main issue overall was that I thought it didn't have much to
do with the theme whatsoever, aside from maybe the first song.
4/10
Oofis: There's a killer among us? I wouldn't have been able to
tell listening to this. As far as the music goes, it was fine -
it was sequenced well and your first 5 songs were listenable at
worst and pleasant at best, but theme wise, I'm sorry to say you
really missed the mark on this one. The theme was murder
mystery, and outside of She's Dead and Home, I didn't feel like
this was a murder mystery playlist. Also, the last song, Just
Exist, was completely uncalled for - 6ix9ine-esque vocals over a
pretty acoustic guitar isn't something I wanted to know existed.
Overall, this wasn't terrible, but you needed to select music
closer to the theme. I'm feeling a decent to strong 4.5.
KitKats: For your playlist, I didn’t think a lot of the
chosen lyrics really made sense; it was not a cohesive playlist.
Just as a single example, your first song “The Heart Is a
Parasite” sets a scene that a corpse has been found with a
note next to it. This aligns with what you wrote about in your
playlist description. However, “She’s Dead”
describes a female in the process of dying. I wish your songs
told more of a story overall. I did not like the transition
between Song 1 and Song 2; Just Exist was not a good album
ending as it was too abrupt, edgy, and gives me the vibe that
someone is getting murdered instead of following a murder. I
felt like it was one of the worst songs to end an album on out
of the 6 in your playlist. She’s Dead would have been a
good fit IMO if you are just focusing on the tune because the
last note is very resonating. Also to end things on a more
positive note, all three of the judges liked She’s Dead by
Pulp. The background instrumentals and chords are a perfect
majestic complement to the lead singer’s mysterious voice.

bro wtf lmao first the name, then the **** ALBUM COVER WHY LMAO
I'M GONNA HAVE TO CENSOR THAT **** LMAO I almost didn't even do
a writeup bc what's the point lol here i'll talk for a bit this
had absolutely nothing to do with the theme lol, maybe besides
the last song I guess...? Idfk somehow i didn't hate this for
the first couple tracks bc Regina George was fire and Ken Doll
was hilarious. **** that Evanescence song tho, it drove me
insane. I was almost giving you the benefit of the doubt for the
first two tracks bc of how hilarious it was but by the end I was
so burnt out. Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis
The Wise? I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would
tell you. It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark
Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force
to influence the midichlorians to create life… He had such
a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he
cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway
to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so
powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his
power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he
taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice
killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from
death, but not himself. 3/10

Description:
I'm not really sure how to go about with a description but
anyways, I'll start with the cover. Cover art is repetitive but
eh like I said, I'm not going to be putting much effort into
them, and that cover only took like an hour to make. For the
theme of the playlist...Man... I got the murder part down I
believe, but "Mystery" stumped me, like for real. There's
nothing mysterious about this playlist at all, mainly because I
just could not come up with anything there. I didn't want the
album to just be about murder, murder, murder, so I added some
sad pop into the mix to give it more of a feeling that whoever
got murdered, was killed by someone close to them or a feeling
like that. Weakest song on here in my opinion is probably Joji -
Run, I feel like I could have maybe added something better for
the second song, but with me scrambling, just went along with
it. Two songs in the middle (Creeper, Somebody Got Murdered) are
the major ones for moving the murder narrative along, Save Your
Tears added into the mix totally not because I'm biased for the
new Weeknd album. Westfall at the end for sorta rapping up the
story, I feel like it does it's job anyways. But yeah... I don't
know if I should be confident in this, or worried because I do
see this playlist as taking a risk of sorts. I'd feel much
better if I had gotten the Mystery part down, but oh well.
(I'm sorry if this description is too long, there wasn't a limit
set in place so I assumed one at this length is
allowed)
YES, I JUST MURDERED SOMEONE is from the perspective of a
murderer, an assassin-for-hire, to be specific, and is split
into three acts.
Act I features the chaotic murder and the adrenaline that rushes
through the body as the murderer commits his killing of a young
boy and escapes the scene, characterised by Lorde's Glory And
Gore and Nick Arundel's It's Initation Time, both intense songs
with a hint of suspense in both.
Act II is where the mystery begins; Billie Eilish's bury a
friend is creeping and apprehensive, just like the murderer
disposing of the body and avoiding the investigation...but
eventually, the murderer starts to feel regret as Brian Tyler's
Monsoon slows from being a suspenseful getaway theme to a sad
song of regret about this particular murder.
Finally, in Act III, the murderer comes to terms with how he is
an assassin-for-hire who simply does whatever people say to him
to make a living as Avril Lavigne's dark and sultry Give You
What You Like plays. Concluding this murder mystery is Marc
Canham's There Is Only War, a foreboding and uncertain theme as
the fate and future of the murderer is left undetermined. Faced
with regret, whatever shall he do?
Enjoy this venture into the mind of a murderer!

The latest collection from LogicallyLogical Records, Conflicted
is a true expression of creative talent and passion, stemming
from the inspiration of ‘Murder Mystery’. The playlist begins
with Bastille’s ‘Quarter Past Midnight’, the title and the music
pairing well with the theme. Natalie Imbruglia’s hit ‘Torn’ and
Ava Max’s ‘So Am I’ are both excellent at displaying the battle
within the head of a victim and a killer with eloquence. The
cover of ‘Smooth Criminal’ by the cast of Glee is a suspense
building, mystery inducing track with the cello’s providing a
nice change from Michael Jackson’s original. The culmination of
a murder comes in the form of Waterparks’ ‘Little Violence’, a
high speed and sound take on the climax of a crime. Finally, The
Killers’ ‘Jenny Was A Friend of Mine’ displays an interrogation
after the homicide, providing a less conclusive ending than
people may have liked, but ensuring it sticks true to the theme
of ‘Murder Mystery’. We hope that everyone enjoys our latest
release.
Ah Florida, with it’s sunny beaches, breezy balms, alligators
and crazy people. It’s truly paradise! Listen to to binge and
imagine yourself on an idealistic beach in the town of Las
Encinas. Truly, nothing could go wrong in this small town! And
definitely not a murder :eyes:
A couple walks down the boardwalk of Las Encinas holding hands.
Due to the judgmental crowd of the town, they cannot openly talk
about their relationship. One of them sings in his native tongue
of Spanish to the other, singing about how he questions his mind
when the other is around. Is it right or is it wrong? What will
the future be like in this town?
The rumors have been confirmed. A local cook at the town’s least
favorite diner has been brutally murdered. How could this happen
in our ocean paradise? A sad, nonsensical tune with surf rock
undertones represents everyone’s despair over today’s events.
They each go their own ways, trying to cope. They sing the body
electric. A few go buy some tea, another paints the palm trees
ahead. Others... have different plans.
HOLY SH*T TWO MORE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN KILLED! (please appreciate
my danganronpa body discovery reference pls pls)
The tone of this playlist, and the lives of Las Encinas becomes
darker. One of the lovers was murdered, leaving the other
mentally unstable. And the town’s only policewoman was killed
outside the club, with a horrifying scene to accompany her.
Secret riches, sinister lover’s deeds, a mafia front, blackmail
hoaxes and more plague this lovely town. Risington’s strange
lyrics and instrumentals represent the despair and hopelessness
Las Encinas felt.
At last, the murderer has been discovered. A woman, lusting for
power and money, killed three people who had what she desired.
She is the leader of the delinquents, the unstable queen of
death, determining who lives or who falls behind. Though Las
Encinas May not recover from this event, people will live on,
and hope for the best.
For those of you who don’t know, the story and playlist is based
off of the first murder game that the sports resort played,
murder at the beach
Description: a lot of it has to do with the tension - it’s not
even the whole mystery of the murder but, really, the murderer
themself. it progresses throughout the murder itself from the
tension at the beginning of the murderer questioning if they
should do it? should they do it?
then it goes to the action and chaos of the murder itself and
the action of the actual murder mystery while the murderer feels
pride in what they did.

(I recommend just converting it to spotify if that's what you
use, it makes no functional difference, only did it in youtube
since I don't have spotify premium)
Explanation
The playlist is essentially divided into two sides, like old
vinyl LPs, Side A deals with the moment of the murder, while
Side B deals with the aftermath of the murder. The meaning
behind each song is as follows:
Tin (The Manhole)
Lyrics:
HTML https://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/everythingeverything/tinthemanhole.html
Tin (The Manhole) is from the perspective of the victim. The
lyrics describe a fox getting hit by a car on the road. The
calm, serene tone depicts the innocence they feel and how they
are unaware of what is about to happen to them, and it continues
even after they are hit, due to the immediacy of the death (like
flicking a switch, hence the playlist cover and name).
As Heaven is Wide
Lyrics:
HTML https://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/garbage/asheaveniswide.html
As Heaven is Wide contrasts with the previous track by showing
the thoughts of the murderer. They feel a great deal of pain
from how their victim has betrayed them (even though the victim
themself might not be aware of the scale of it) and they desire
revenge. While murder cannot heal the pain, it can provide a
sense of closure, which is why the murderer is intent on revenge
here.
On the Run
Instrumental
This track is not from any one perspective (hence no lyrics),
but instead captures the murder in reality. The tension that
runs throughout the song builds up to a climax with manic
laughter, intended to symbolise the moment of death. Not much
more needs to be said about this one (except I love how I made
the beginning of this track and the end of the last track kinda
sync up, since those bits were ruining the flow before).
Idioteque
Lyrics:
HTML https://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/radiohead/idioteque.html
I didn't choose this track so much for the lyrics, though they
are vague enough that they could be interpreted to be relevant
to the theme. Instead, the instrumentation perfectly captures
the panic and confusion that comes to whoever discovers the
body, and I just had to put it in the playlist for that.
Permanent High School
Lyrics:
HTML https://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/juliancasablancas/permanenthighschool.html
This track is supposed to represent the investigation, the
actual mystery part of the murder mystery. It is like high
school, according to the title, with everyone having something
to hide and nothing being certain. In general, the song captures
the mysterious, doubt-filled tone quite well.
The Jeweller's Hands
Lyrics:
HTML https://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/arcticmonkeys/thejewellershands.html
The closing track describes the murderer as people are closing
in on them. They can't take back what they've done, they're in
too deep now, and it's finally coming back to bite them. They
thought they could be different, and that they could simply move
on and not get caught, but they were wrong.
It describes the series of a murder mystery. The first track is

is for the hectic thoughts and craziness that occurs when
someone is killed, the third track is people searching for the
killer and making sure they get justice, the 4th track is about
everyone turning against each other and blaming the murder on
each other, the 5th track is finding the killer and making sure

Just as the title seems to tell, this playlist explains how a
team of detectives discovers someone's corpse and gathers the
clues until they reach a consensus where the killer's executed
afterwards. It all starts with the introduction, "Nu ABO", where
the characters and theme are introduced. The next song, "Bad
Boy", is where the corpse's found - the song after that, "Catch
Me If You Can", is the first part of the rising action where the
detectives chase the killer, followed by "I Don't Care". With
the song "Kill This Love", a climax where the detectives reach a
consensus about the killer's identity and puts him/her on death
row afterwards is reached. The final song in this playlist,
"Final Squall", is a heartwarming and emotional way to end this
playlist.
My playlist's story order is as follows: Intro > Corpse Found >

A murder has taken place. But who dunnit? This playlist is
themed around the story of a typical murder mystery. Each track
has been carefully selected to fit in with a theme of the murder
mystery.

DURATION: 24 minutes 50 seconds
1: Fugees - Killing Me Softly (4 minutes 0 seconds)
[sup][sub]I choose this song to fit a theme that you will
hopefully understand as the playlist continues. This is the
actual killing of the murder mystery night. Obviously for a
murder mystery, you need a murder. This is quite literal in
killing someone, so here it is. This is the non-rap
version.[/sub][/sup]
2: Beegees - Tragedy (5 minutes 4 seconds)
[sup][sub]This is the announcement of the murder. If this was at
a party, for example, in a typical murder mystery everybody
would be gathered and told at the same time. The announcement is
obviously a tragedy, so here's the Beegees right on
queue![/sub][/sup]
3: Shaggy - It Wasn't Me (3 minutes 48 seconds)
[sup][sub]The interrogations. Everyone's a suspect. This is the
police interviewing or interrogating them. Obviously you're
going to say it wasn't me, whether you're lying or not. It's
also a classic song from the noughties.[/sub][/sup]
4: Linkin Park - What I've Done (3 minutes 30 seconds)
[sup][sub]This is the murderer realising what he's actually
done. The regret, the remorse, but also the feeling that you
can't get out of it. He's this far in it that there's no turning
back. This song adds a different style not yet seen in the
playlist to the other songs also, for variety.[/sub][/sup]
5: Sarah McClachlan - (In The Arms of an) Angel (4 minutes 31
seconds)
[sup][sub]Sometimes in a murder mystery, they may show the
funeral of the victim. In this one we are anyway! This song is
being played at the victim's funeral. It's sad, it's emotional,
clearly about death. It also provides a relaxing, mellow song
after the other ones just played.[/sub][/sup]
6: Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway (3 minutes 57 seconds)
[sup][sub]This is the climax. The murder is solved. Everyone can
just let go. This song is about letting go. Reflecting slightly
on the past, but this song is about moving onto the future as
well. This also works well as a climax song. It adds another
style of music not yet present in the playlist and I think it's
a perfect song to finish on.[/sub][/sup]
Tracklist:
I'm Gonna Live Till I Die - Frank Sinatra
Rope - Foo Fighters
Do I Wanna Know? - Arctic Monkeys
Pipe It Up - Migos
Eleanor Rigby Remastered 2009 - The Beatles
Candle in the Wind 1997 - Elton John
As you can see this playlist is based on the board game Clue.
Wow, so original. I bet like 10 other people did this. Each song
represents one of the 6 weapons from Clue. I'm Gonna Live Till I
Die was used on the Knives Out soundtrack (dagger), Rope (rope),
Do I Wanna Know? is by Arctic Monkeys (monkey wrench), Pipe It
Up (pipe), Eleanor Rigby is on the album Revolver (revolver),
and Candle in the Wind (candlestick). The songs themselves are
basically in the order of a murder mystery plot, I think. The
"I'll never die" trope that plenty of murder victims have, then
the actual murder, the suspects being gathered, the fight in the
middle, catching the killer, and reminiscing about the victim.
Also I say it flows quite nicely but that's 100% subjective.
this playlist focuses on both the killers mentality and the
murder mystery. first we hear the killers thoughts they feel
trapped in their mind they long to feel happiness and joy but
they can't. their body is a cage and they're desperate to do
anything to feel something they're devoid of all emotion. as the
song ends we hear a hopeful tone they've found a way to feel but
that abruptly ends the transition is on purpose. we go from the
killers mind to reality, they've killed someone in an attempt to
feel. the following song is your classic murder mystery anthem
everyones searching for clues and feeling uncertain. next we
hear a very brief chorus of voices similar to those at the end
of the first song it's a return o the killers mind they feel
something out of this murder mystery they don't know what it is
but it's emotion it's almost relief they've gotten away except
they haven't. the song continues and it's the same uncertain
tone as the last classic moment in a murder mystery it grows
urgent though, they've pieced together all of the clues and
found the killer. the song grows intense as they begin to point
the finger to the true killer. the killer worried and panicked
does something he'll soon regret. they've solved the murder at
the cost of their lives. at first the killer feels relief
they've gotten away with it their heartbeat returns to normal
but soon they see the bodies and realize what they've done and
they can't take it back. the last song is the killer getting rid
of the evidence there's nobody left to solve the mystery it's
only him and his mind. this is his inner monologue and
everything he's done coming to haunt his mind. in his quest to
feel something through creating a murder mystery is hurt. now
he's even more trapped in his own mind. now they need support
but they can't find any not even within his own mind. his body
is still a cage.
the beginning and ending songs are both by the same artist on
purpose they are the only two songs were we follow the killers
inner monologue and mindset exclusively. his inner self remains
consistent it's meant to highlight the change in tone of the
playlist and the change in tone of the killers mindset as the
playlist progresses.
oki so!! heres the deal
my playlist is called "whodunnit?????" (vaguely sarcastic
question marks crucial), and basically, its meant to feel like
the soundtrack to a super stereotypical murder mystery b-movie
track 1 - think of it as the opening theme. its meant to feel
stylistically like the sort of thing youd hear in a 60s spy
mystery/thriller. not much else to say about this bc its
instrumental
track 2 - our protagonists are told of a murder. again, this one
feels pretty self explanatory just bc of how on the nose the
lyrics are in this context.
tracks 3+4 - they do some detective work in these ones, slowly
narrowing down their list of suspects until they discover the
killer.
track 5 - you know how every murder mystery has a rly overblown
scene where the killer admits to the crime and then goes on a
tangent about why they did it? yeah, this is it
track 6 - credits. its a song about a famous detective film, itd
be almost too obvious
i realize that this entire idea could be taken as a meta
commentary on me making this playlist, and i will leave it to
you and the other judges to decide how intentional that may have
been

I think it's unfair that people got docked points for videos not
