4. Arc: Empty Chapter 6: Guess who's back
Inquisitor Zielley stood, with his back to the two of us,
looking at the two Saints, inspecting them.
Me and Zielley stood uphill, though the Sisters that surrounded
the leathery coated Inquisitor would have been able to see us
from where they stood, they paid no mind to us. Likely, that
havn't noticed out presence on the grass covered hill.
Sure, our attire stood out;
J dressed in dirty, used grey linen littered with some dark
spots where the blood of the Guardsmen that I killed came in
contact with the rough fabric. The metal strap that covered her
mouth still held secure every word she would have uttered. Her
unkept but nontheless pretty grey and white hair hang in her
face and down her back now that she had tossed her hood back to
see what was going on before us.
Her eyes where wide just as mine, her expression showing
confusion and excitement, maybe a hint of fear which was almost
constant in her bright blue eyes. It was obvious that she was
wide awake, despite her lack of sleep. The scene unfoulding down
there, before us covering every other thought in her powerfull
mind.
I still wore my blood and flesh covered robes, completly red
now, I smelled of sweat, vomit and gore. All scents that I grew
used to and to my surprise, J didn't seem to mind it either.
My hair, unkept and stained with blood was sticky, it's natural
white colour hidden benath of what used to be the Guardsmens
insides. I was red all over.
The only thing that made me and J look like sisters still, where
our similar builds and our cyan eyes.
Even though, I must note that J was much younger and had much
less muscle than I. Probably came from her sad life in
imprisonment while I aged inside the eye of Terror, Time must
have crawled to a stop outside.
Or perhaps it was the other way arround and time in the Eye was
moving faster while the time outside was at it's normal pace.
It made no difference and I stopped my brain of thinking any
further, before it derrailed into even worse, senseless detail.
I looked down onto the Inquisitor. I could not see his face, but
still I knew that.
He really wasn't happy. Impressed, sure but not happy or pleased
in any way at all.
He frowned at the two females that stood before him.
One of them acctually looked like a holy Saint of the God
Emperor of Mankind;
A huge woman with long beautiful white hair, clad black and red
armour of the Sisterhood.
Certanly nice armour but still it's simplicity made it look like
it was made just to cover her. In the pictures and descriptions
I have normaly seen of Imperial Saints, they wore more Ornate
armour, this one was that, of a simple Sister of Battle. Not
even any high rank, as I saw one Sister stand guard next to the
Inquisitor, wearing more ornate armour and even a Helmet.
Yes, she indeed looked like a Saint, she emitted golden light
like a aura and when I looked at her I felt strangely at peace
with myself, strangely happy and even more strangely, kind of
arroused.
If there wouldn't have been two things off:
The first beeing her grin, which struck me as weird, her mouth
went from one eye to the other as if she was about to cry out in
laughter about some unheard joke.
The other beeing her beeing barefoot, that was really a fun look
to have, considering the rest of her armour, while plain, was
absolutly heavy.
Left to her, stood the other woman, the other "Saint" and
turning my gaze to her my smile grew as wide as that first
Saints.
I almost cried out in laughter but held back, since I did not
want to give away our position.
I never would have guessed this and I am certain neither would
have inquisitor Zielley, that the Sisters would think Miriael
Sabathiel was a Saint.
She looked nothing like a Saint, she was clearly twisted by the
Warp and Slaanesh, her grotesk body adding insult to the whole
scene, the armour that connected with her flesh was still that
of a Sister, it's red and black still praising the glory of the
Emperor. She even had typical imperial insignias still on it.
Her sword, which was absolutly tainted and possibly possessed,
on her belt, tubes connecting it with her arm, making it
impossible for her, to discard of it as the sword fed of her
blood. Blood so acidic and toxic that it could kill a space
Marine uppon contact.
As well as her unholy Bolter, in it's Holster on her Hip.
Everything about her, from her sharpened, predator like teeth,
over the long tongue liking her black lips to the slit eyes that
stared right into the Inquisitors Soul, everything made this
whole scene bizzar.
How did they get trough with this, all of this.
I questioned the sanity of these Sisters as well as that of
myself for thinking that this was real and not sime kind of
dream.
Miriael Sabathiel standing next to that Saint-like weirdo,
looking down at the – compared to them – commedicaly small
Inquisitor.
How did they trick this many Sororitas into believing they where
Saints?
Okay, at least how did Miriael trick them, because I would buy
the other one, even though her grin was that of a derranged
maniac.
"This..." the inquisitor started but didn't carry on, his words
have left him.
He was beyond confusion or anger. He was completly dumbstruck.
I felt with him, certanly he didn't buy it. How could he. How
could anyone buy it, that these two, where holy imperial Saints.
Miriael even emitted the typical aura of a Deamon, reality
seemingly bending arround her form.
I felt the waves of pleasure ripple trough the air, then heard
the roar of many of the large swords that the Sisters carried
and saw, how one sister fell to the ground, her body disolving
into a red and blueish mush as the Inquisitor answered – instead
of with words – with a fire from his now glowing Plasma gun.
Three more Sisters fell and the two "Saints" just stood silently
watching. Not that I believed they where Saints now, I still
think nobody truly believes that but for the lack of a better
word.
I heard a last scream of righteous anger from the Loyal
Inquisitor, a strangled and choking but still loud and
confident:
"HERETICS"
In vain, he had no allies anywhere close, noone that would come
to his aid as only me and J where left of his entourage and we
where less likely to help him and more likely to end him
ourselfs.
His head flew off, catapulted into the air be the vicious strike
of one of the less well armoured Sisters.
His head flew torwards us and all the Sisters gazes followed it
land before J's feet. J didn't even look at it. She only had
eyes for the mad Saint with the wide grin that still stood there
silently and watched everything as if it was a well prepaired
play, just for her.
Kind of as if she knew everything that was happening, as if she
was not surprised but still happy about the show, ammused about
something she had already seen.
The Sisters gazes rested on us for only a hint of a second
before their muscles flexed as they raised their swords for a
charge. Bent on ending me and J on the spot without asking a
single question. We where, after all with the Inquisitor, at
least in their eyes.
I saw the metal of their swords reflect the dim light, shining
like small suns beneath the clouded sky.
I heard their swords motors roar. The sound alone made my legs
to weak and I fell to my knees, looking into the many eyes of my
death.
We where so ****.
Slaanesh damn f'cking r*pe me the suns of every systems... and
the moons. Come on you f*cker, double time me.
That is how **** we where.
I saw the minutes before passing behind my inner eye, how the
two of us stepped out of the Shuttle, having hidden right
underneath the seats of these Sisters, unnoticed.
I damned our foolishnes, that we just headed for the hill with
the best view without even considering hiding or fleeing for a
second.
Sure, we had little other options but just standing there in
plain sight was amazingly stupid of us or at least of me, maybe
J wanted to die or didn't care enough.
She was still watching the Angel.
Just as the Sisters where about to be uppon us I felt a psykic
wave in the air, hitting me, a feeling like beeing slaped in the
face playfully, not very unpleasant. I grew used to the feeling
on Jaquis ship, where these phenomenons where common on almost a
daily basis.
I heard a girls voice in my head, my mothers voice sounding so
young and broken.
No, not sounding, feeling. She was transmitting feeling trough
the Warp into our brains. Inaudible but still heard as if she
shouted.
"Feuerengel."
That was followed by a loud:
"HALT!"
That voice was in realspace, a command comming from the mad
Angel. If I wasn't on my knees already, I would have fallen to
kneel now.
The Sisters stoped in their tracks but their postured remained
ready to strike at us and cut trough our unprotected bodies like
trough thin paper, slicing us.
First I looked at J next to me: She looked happs somehow, it was
as if the time arround her had stopped, no rain was falling onto
her. The Air smelled sweet, except for the smell of blood and
gore that I emitted. It was gonna rain soon.
As if time had slowed to a crawl, I turned me head and looked
down at the mad Saint and she looked back. Not at me, but at J
beside me and was looking surprised.
Heh.
So she couldn't see the future anyways, she was just not
surprised yet.
I saw giant wings, the size of Baneblades appear behind the mad
Saint, not connected to her body but somehow still hers. They
where not of flesh, bone or anything material, they where pure
fire forged into a shape. They emitted a awe inspiring light and
I could hear the fire, feel it too as it warmed me in realspace
as well as mentaly trough the warp. Gently, pleasant.
I tried to concentrate on the real things, the wet grass beneath
my feet, soaking my bloody robes and in retaliation, painting
the ground arround me red. The smell of J, or the air arround
us.
The sound of an explosion riped me away from my thoughts.
Nothing blew up, it was just the Saint flapping her wings once.
She immediatelly took off and bulleted torwards us like a new
force of nature, a unstopable might that came torwards us like a
comet.
Horror and grace unified in her.
She was before me, I could feel her might cradle my soul with
unending awsome pleasure without her even concentrating on it or
looking at me.
The Sisters moaned and fell to their knees as well, surrounding
the Angel in crude half circle.
Only J and the Angel stood.
J grinned so wide, the sides of her mouth exceeded the metal
strap that kept her silent.
The Angel returned the grin, even wider.
With that, I remembered:
I have no idea how they managed it. It should have been
impossible.
How we tried to conjure her times and times again uppon Jaquis
ship inside the Eye of Terror.
I remember how many souls we threw into the gaping maw of Terror
to conjure ancient Deamons.
Everything was unstable back then and we lost countless
cult-sisters. Sure all of them pledged their life to the cause
but I was still not glad about their deaths as I loved every
single one of them.
We stopped the routine of trying that as our numbers thinned out
to only a handfull of people. Jaqui had a knack to get Heretics
of all kinds to aid her cause but regaining the armies that
follow her Banner now was tough even for her.
All and everything to bring one single Sister back, a Sister
that was impossible to bring back. Even Jaqui seemed to have
accepted that and started pursuing a new goals, though never
giving up on this, as if it was the reason for her existance in
the first place.
That Heretic Sister, which was so impossible, in her beeing as a
whole, let alone her surviving death.
That Impossibility commanded the Charging Sisters to stop with a
Word.
Her landing let the earth quake beneath her and I knew, that if
she wanted, she could burn this world down if she only felt like
it.
I knew now, why the Sisters trusted Miriael Sabathiel.
I would trust every word that she would utter. She only need
mumble it and I would follow her cause until death.
The inquisitor must have had incredible willpower to withstand
the feeling one felt once this glorious Angel stands before you.
Pleasure filled my mind and body and I knew everyone arround me
felt the same. It drove me insane faster than anything I had
ever witnessed.
With the wicked smile I only knew of Drug addicts and Maniacs
she spoke to us as if we where old friends.
"I will go and see some old friends of mine soon, but before
that I must go to Ophelia VII"
The mad Angel paused only to smile at us as if we where the most
beautiful thing she had ever set her eyes on.
"I will take you there, as my entourage and you can stay and
live there, I promise. In exchange you will do me a small favor
as well."
I would follow that command, I knew it and didn't have to usher
a word for it. She knew I would and so would J.
"Why?" I asked.
Not asking what she wanted or why she wanted it, I would get to
that in given time. I needed to know why she felt that we where
the right ones for that. Certanly she had a large number of
Sisters under her Command, not to mention that she somehow
managed to be in the company of the other most dangerous
Slaanesh worshipping Sister that had ever left the ranks of the
Order of Our Martyred Lady.
The whole thing was insane: two beeings this powerfull on a Agri
world, standing there with the Inquisition not having the
slightest Idea.
It started to Rain as the mad Angel answered with the same
wicked smile again on her lips:
"You remind me of Aiden ... and you will bring me my boots."
