Last flight of the Grenschwaren - Action
   DIR By: Old Man Sanders
       Date: September 29, 2016, 4:24 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Lord Inquisitor Septima:
You stand on the bridge, in front of the vast windows, men in
tight officer dress, a cobalt blue all of them, rush about you,
sheets and rucks of paper piled in their arms, shouting orders
above the din as the ship pulls away from the station. Bellow
your raised deck, a hive of maybe fifty people bustle bellow in
a windowless space, disappearing to the navigators quarters and
other sections, mechanicus priests clank around heavily at the
head of trains of servitors, unguents released throughout the
halls in reverence of the omnissiah. The captain sits on a
plinth raised even higher than where you stand in the bridge,
already above most, and his MIU glistens with strange light, his
eyes affixed on a glowing projection of a green sphere. He
glances at you, and his chair shifts around to face you, and he
       beckons you forth.
"This is all your doing, is it not inquisitor? Quite a feat,
this grand ship, and quite a difference in the Front, I would
       think."
       Carmine "Red" Zuigiber:
You sit in the mess hall, glass of amsec in hand. Well, it's the
non alcoholic version, no drinking in case you're needed for
flight's what they say. Sucks, say most of the men, but hey,
you've the lowest mortality rate of the ship on average, so good
       job.
A few people bustle around besides you and in the cramped room,
about 50 people, all in the same sweaty, oxygen-less room. A man
in full black officer dress walks up to your table and steps up
onto it, surprising you mildly. You can tell he's in charge of
       this flight group.
"Alright guys and girls! We've got three hours until warp
insertion, and then another three days until we're out at
this... Volupta place. Some shrine world, but there're some of
those pointy eared pricks out there, and we're going to kill
ourselves some of them. So keep ready when we're out there,
'cause you'll never know when those fucks'll come out."
A cheer came from the men, and the black suited man sits down
next to you, drawing a hip flask.
       Senera Fernando:
Clank. Clank. Clank. Clank. Fucking hell... Clank.
Above you some mechanicus adept or servitor is trundling about,
utterly ruining your attempt at listening fro the stowaways on
this deck. Suddenly, a scampering ahead echoes down the
corridor, and a short, sharp, muffled cry.
The black decks are a dangerous place, and although you may have
regretted coming down here, there's good game. Xenos, rats...
       men.
       Cullius Rofen:
You sit in your quarters, long lass held up on a shelf to its
own, nothing much going on. A short rap comes from your door,
and a man shouts after it "Hey Rofen, there's a competition at
the range, best shot wins lieutenant Krayne's bolt pistol!"
       Jarosh Yerachmiel:
The low and constant vibration of the engines is palpable this
far to the back of the ship, and a tiny glow-globe stirs in your
lantern in this grim, dank, cavern. Oil drips from the steel
ceiling, and where it does not pool, rust coats. So much for a
       new ship.
You look about yourself, and peer deeper into the darker
recesses of this space. It's cold according to the readings and,
if it weren't for your optics, would be very dark. The lamp is
unnecessary but... it somehow feels improper without it. You
trudge on down the corridor, blackness rolling in behind you.
You reach your destination swiftly, a tall bulkhead, so rusted
its entirely withered through and into a new room, but this you
were counting on. You scramble through into this new chamber, a
wide room, rust creeping in at the corners, but staying out the
rest of the way, and walk into the centre of it. A large dias,
circular, fills the centre of the room, and rustless boards line
the walls. You scrape across the slick surface, sending up
sparks, until your steel fingers come to rest on a narrow hole.
You fiddle around trying to find the right wire, it isn't
standard, much to your dismay, but eventually the cable is
inserted. It only takes a quite conversation with the slumbering
machine spirit to wake it, and a large green sphere projection
erupts into life above the table, and all the boards reveal
their true nature as screens, green flickering across their
surfaces. You've found it, the backdoor to the bridge. You can't
control anything, but it's all here. Even the captains log,
although, sadly, that's empty. An Idle curiosity? Or a tool
for....? Well. It's up to you I suppose.
       Lillian:
The torch's light flickers off as the side door to the repair
bay opens, and you drop off the Voss fighter, before you realise
it's just another greaser like you, fixing up the shit they
dumped on this hulk. He's a tall guy, pale skin with patchy
hair, and he's oldish, covered in grime and caked in dirt and
soot. He pays no heed to you and carries on down the room before
exiting at the other side, but just before he does so, he slides
a brown paper package down one of the grills in the floor, deep
enough not to be seen, but easily able to be pulled out. He
almost jogs off through the other door, and you're left alone
again in the dark, dingy repair bay where only a single glow
globe, twenty feet up shines above you.

Knife ears is it? Casualties will be high then, their fighters
       outclass ours.

Cullius gets up from his prayer slightly annoyed that he was
disturbed 'ill be out in a minute' he carefully pulls down the
long las from the rack, he runs his fingers up and down the
rifle as he feels the notches for every kill bump across his
fingers. He breaks out of the trance and slings the rifle across
his back as he opens the door.

"OY! YA BASTARD! STOP MAKING SO MUCH FRIGGIN NOISE. I CAN'T HEAR
JACK OVER THE SOUND OF YER Clank, Clanks, Clanks!" Senera shouts
at the celing at the bastard who's ruining his attempts at
       listening for anything.
       *sigh*
"such is the life of a mercenary" he whispers to himself
*So these are the black decks. This place is an utter shit hole*
Senera goes to check on what just got killed with his Lasgun in
hand. He was armed to the teeth, but he wanted to get all the
firepower he could carry. It made him feel safe. Was it a rat, a
person, whatever..... He needs to make this trip useful. How?...
he had no idea. There just might be some good loot in this
       place.
He liked the peace and quiet it offered him though. He was
pretty sure that the guardsmen on defense duty won't miss him.
Most of them didn't like mercenaries.

Jarosh looks around at the various screens, marvelling at the
Omnissiah's gift to him. Taking a few quiet (or as quiet as a
powered exoskeleton could manage) steps toward where he thinks
he could find data about the ship's current destination, he
quickly stops about halfway there and concentrates on the sounds
around him, listening for anything that could be identified as
an unwanted visitor to his new sanctum.

*nods at the captain* alot of work, and, a lot of money. This
vessel better have been worth it, otherwise I'll have you
court-martialed. Anyways, Eldar may be a challenge. *Rest hand
on her blade, and turns to look out at the view*

       Lillian sighs to herself...
"Well, nothing better to do and this light ticks me off."
So she joggs after the dirty looking guy, leaving his package to
       take it later.
She makes sure to move as silently as possible, so to not alert
       him to her following him.

       Lord Inquisitor Septima:
"Aye that they might be. But if we stick to the warp..." He
shudders "I pray there's no warp storms, inquisitor. When I
served in the Gothic fleet... lost four ships in a single storm.
Wasn't even a harsh one." A bleeping comes from his display and
he turns and silences it with some brief gestures and shouts.
"If we do encounter some knife ears, then I'd expect we can
outmanoeuvre them if we stick closer to the star. Much slower
going towards the star than not I've learned from my years."
       Carmine "Red" Zuigiber:
"You're right... but don't tell 'em eh?" He smiles. "You fought
'em before? Got this scar from a knife ear." he points to a scar
running from the bottom of his right eye to his right ear.
"Fighter crashed in the bay of one of our ships, and turns out,
the pilot was still alive. Jumped out tried to kill us! Broke
one guys back in three places, killed another with a piece of
glass, same piece he used on my face, before I cut his head off
with a chainsword. Good old chainsword, better than their fancy
shit I say. You got any war stories?"
       Senera Fernando:
Upon rounding the corner, a woman, her face wet with tears, lies
slumped against a wall, a rudimentary bear trap fastened around
her right ankle. She looks up at you and begins crying more,
blubbering something about not killing her. She makes the sign
of the Aquila on her chest and curls up into a ball, still
       crying.
       Cullius Rofen:
You eventually arrive in a long hall, targets at the far end
painted on the steel wall. Four other men are standing in the
hall, one with a long-las, another a needle rifle, and yet
another with a long, ancient revolver with an almost comically
large scope. The lieutenant stands with his bolt pistol in his
hand, and raises an eyebrow at your arrival.
       Jarosh Yerachmiel:
You hear a slight noise from the deck bellow, the words you pick
out being, "Oi" "Bastard" "Noise" "Jack" "Sound" "Boots",
       Probably at somebody else.
The machine spirit hums in contentment as you enter in the
commands for the destination. Whilst you listen, no sounds out
of the ordinary come, only the dripping of leaking oil and the
humming of the engines. A Holo-pict appears above the table,
displaying a small sphere, about forty centimetres across, and
coated in craters. It's called KW-9 b21. A moon of the larger
world, KW-9. The mission assignment simply reads: +++ Target
last sighted near here. Expect resistance.+++
       Lillian:
You open the door, and see the man turning a corner through the
corridor. You follow after him, and eventually he comes to a
wall, and begins replacing a broken glow-globe in it. He seems
to actually be working on it, fixing broken fuses and even
uttering a few prayers to its machine spirit. You can see a
rudimentary MIU on his neck. He's old, perhaps 80. And his hands
shake quite a lot when doing these tasks.

Jarosh memorises the correct commands to get back to the mission
log, and sees if he can find some sort of security camera
footage for the deck below him, as his curiosity peaks. He vows
to look into the planet in more detail after this small
       digression.

I have one good one; I was stationed on the light cruiser
Terra's Wrath and we had engaged one of the arch enemies escort
vessels at close range. Me and my flight were refueling and
rearming after our first strafing run of the bridge when the
traitors managed to board the vessel. They came storming past
our Lightning's and towards us so I fired a shot with my pistol
before turning to bug out. To this day I don't know what my shot
hit but it detonated the ammo that had been piled up next to our
birds for rearming. Long story short it blew most the hangar to
bits and killed the first wave of attackers, buying enough time
for the armsmen to arrive and finish the job.
