Nurgle wept...

So in case you've been living in a cave you may be aware of a
disease hitting the headlines called the Zika virus that causes
birth defects in children... Which are quite frankly
horrifying... Anyway scientists seem to think that having a
huge sporting event drawing people in from every corner of the
world might be a bad idea especially since that sporting event
is taking place in the epicentre of this Zika virus outbreak...

So should they cancel the Olympic games in Rio?
Or should they just say fuck it and risk a global pandemic?

I think either way, they will do the later.
Since there is no injection, if the virus is potent enough, it
will spread either way.
Arn't there a lot of health risks when going to Rio already
anyways? With already known stuff like HIV? Not that I'd no
details though.

Indeed, I think they should - if they don't stop the games all
together - actually seriously take into consideration the risk
of killing absolutely everyone.
Having the games in Rio was a bit stupid anyway. Yeah, make all
the poor countries pay tons of money to make a huge stadium
they'll use once when that money could be used to improve the
welfare of their population...

Yeah... we should cancel it rather than risk a global epidemic.

Yeah there is HIV but that isn't transfered via mosquito
bites...
The disease isn't really dangerous to adults it's unborn babies
that suffer... The virus attacks the fetuses brain while in the
womb... It's fucking horrible... I wouldn't wish it on my worst
enemy...

People won't die from it and if they do it will be rare it's the
birth defects it causes in children that has everyone freaking
out... Nobody wants to see a generation of children born with
disabilities...

Taking a more emotionally detached and cynical look at things,
wouldn't its spread to the developed world push cure research
forward in a big way?
While it's wreaking havoc on Africa and South America, the
people with the money and equipment to make a real difference
won't care enough to do all they can. When it's their own
problem too, they will.
I'm not saying it spreading would be a good thing, I just think
the reality is if it did spread to Europe and North America, a
lot more would be done to deal with the issue.

Of course people care they want rid of it before it spreads...
The Americans are shitting themselves... Once it gets to the
everglades...
They are fucked...
