Right...so...we established there need to be some form of rules
otherwise mods and admins have no authority and it's wild west
in here. A couple would enjoy that, but long term it doesn't
work unless everyone is on that same page (not the case).
In principle, "Don't be an dick" is the only thing that needs to
be actively enforced, but like I said, in that simplistic form
it's impossible to do so. It's too subjective. You need to break
down what behaviour is dickish and form the rules based on those
things.
So here's just a few things that spring to mind to me:
- Speak to others in a respectful manner. Casual insults in a
social setting are okay, but make it clear that you don't mean
it. Don't moan if someone takes it the wrong way and you get
into shit because of it...whether you risk it or not is up to
you.
- Don't shitpost. IE, do not post anything in a thread that
isn't related to the subject of said thread, or is completely
non-constructive. Attempts at humour can be constructive in
their own way, but only in moderation. Try to be the class clown
24/7 and you'll just end up being unfunny, annoying people and
coming across as a troll.
- If a mod or admin deems you did either of the things above,
and you disagree, screenshot that shit and go make a complaint
thread in the 'Issues/Discussions' board...if you whinge about
it anywhere else, you're not doing yourself any favours.
That's by no means everything you could include. That's by no
means what you SHOULD include. This is just me trying to give
you a starting point so you guys can discuss and decide among
yourselves what would work for the majority.
If and when you've talked this shit out and decided on
something, we'll get to the other issues like Moderator and
Admin roles...focus on the basic crap for now. :P
Oh if you're gonna temp ban Zorn, do so after he's said his
piece here please. If you are gonna perma ban him then...well
that's not necessary. Oh and Zorn if you use the right to speak
to say anything that isn't constructive, I'm gonna get my
henderson castration tool and pay you a visit... >:(
Now I'll just hope you lot get off arses and discuss. :-[

Rules irritate me... But if the vox populai are going to be held
to a standard...
It seems only fair that moderators and administration should be
held to account too...
So i suggest that rules regarding admin and mod conduct are also
created...
For accountability and recourse but mostly to prevent what I did
happening again...
(yes I just dug my own grave and now I'm climbing in it!!!) ;D
