---------------------------------------------------------
Widely believed to be of Ravenguard descent, the Spears of
Darkness reside upon the lush forest moon of Oxyimpiad, in the
Kalokagathia system of Segmentum Obscurus. There is no
definitive evidence that the Ravenguard are their progenitors,
only speculation between them and other likely candidates such
as the White Scars or even the Blood Angels. Much of their
history is a blur, having been founded sometime during M33 and
M34 - although a particular record dating back to late M31
details 'The Shrouded' assisting the Black Templars in actions
against the Iron Warriors, although the Templars have never
confirmed nor denied this alliance taking place.
The chapter has a particular affinity for stealth operations.
Failing that, full frontal assaults with emphasis on bikers is a
common tactic. It is this genetic love of bikes that has led
certain figures, especially those within the chapter armoury, to
speculate their White Scar founding. Their theory is backed up
by the possession of two functioning Horus Heresy era Jetbikes,
reserved for Chapter Master Malcus Zeus and Chief Librarian
Hengharl Moros. The Librarius on the other hand makes a point
that the Spears may in fact be sons of Sanguinius. The 'Crimson
Haze' which all psykers feel upon the dawn of battle is said to
be similar to the Blood Angel's blood curse. Otherwise calm and
controlled, librarians on the battlefield are taught to master
the discipline of Biomancy before going their separate paths.
Their acts have led many allies to grow distrustful, and has
gained the attention of certain Inquisitors, although no
official action has been taken.
Geneseed examinations by Chief Apothecary Charon, the
Inquisition and the skilled Apothecarion of the Red Scorpions
have proved inconclusive.
The chapter cult is heavy on tradition. The first recorded
chapter master, Grigori Zeus, decreed that every lord commander
after him, every company captain and every head of department
take on the surname of their first leader to ensure that full
devotion to their position within the chapter is assured, and
that their forefathers' legacy remains honoured. Every marine
wields a spear of varying potency depending on rank. Standard
space marines wield a sharpened adamantium spear as a
replacement for a combat knife. Sergeants have their spears
imbued with a power field generator to match the attack power of
power swords. Captains may keep their former spear, although
some make use of it as a primary weapon, taking a much larger
spear with increased power and a shaft suitable for blocks and
other defensive manoeuvres. Librarians carry force spears
capable of channelling psychic energy, as well as being able to
return to its user after being thrown - this design has often
been compared to the Singing Spears carried by Eldar Farseers.
Techmarines and Chaplains rarely carry a spear of such magnitude
as those carried by Captains, preferring the Power Axe or
Crozius that is required for their position.
Despite certain suspicions by the organisation, the chapter has
close ties with the Ordo Hereticus, and thus are often employed
for sabotage and espionage campaigns against renegade
governments and Imperial Guard regiments, as well as space
marine chapters believed to be on the verge of heresy. This has
included missions against the 252nd Kaurava Conservator
Regiment, the Marines Malevolent, the Knights of Blood, and the
Dark Angels.
Other close bonds include the Hawk Lords, Angels Sanguine, and
the Emperor's Shadows. For a time an alliance with the Minotaurs
was powerful, and the chapters underwent many campaigns with
each other. Despite even being gifted a Land Raider Achilles by
Asterion Moloc, the Spears disapproved of the Minotaurs' tenancy
to attack loyal forces without even questioning why, or finding
out if their enemy even are traitorous.
After the events of Lilaethan Twenty-Eight-Four, this alliance
is no longer.
This event will be written out into a full length fanfiction in
the future.

Thanks :D
Not on great depth, I don't think I'll vary it too much from
standard recruitment - by which I mean, get initiates to beat
each other to shit with sticks and whoever wins becomes a
marine.

I'll note that most names will be somehow linked to the ancient
Greeks, such as the obvious name of Chapter Master Zeus - king
of the Gods - as well as the not so obvious Sergeant Praxidike -
goddess of judicial punishment and vengeance. Others will
however just be interesting names I make up which sound similar,
such as Epistolary Junir Askrux who will be (one of) the main
characters I will feature in Lilaethan Twenty-Eight-Four.

Just to quickly interject, the iron warriors home world was also
called Olympia
Not sure if that was intentional or not
