The purple pegasus wanted a challenge. To many of the other
ponies back in Cloudsdale were slackers and she could beat them
in a skill contest no problem. She was zipping in and out of the
trees on the edge of the Everfree Forest, trying to see how fast
she could go without hitting a tree or one of the creatures from
the forest. She skidded to a halt just away from the tree line
and caught her breath, she'd been flying non stop for the last
hour and a half and it felt like her wings were about to fall
off "Good job, Breeze. Way to push yourself too far again." she
muttered to herself before kicking a loose stone into the
bushes.

"Ow..." came the response from the bush. "What the hay?"
The voice was male, and had a slight accent. "If you're gonna
kick stones, I have a few people I'd like you to meet." he
grumbled.

Breeze slowly looked up from her hooves, her eyes wide, and
looked at the bush the voice had come from. "Uh, heh, sorry.
Didn't realise there would be a pony sat in a bush. At least I'm
hoping you're a pony and i haven't pushed myself so hard that
I'm imagining that the bushes are talking to me." She flumped
onto her rear and stared at the bush, as if she was really
loosing her mind

A dark green unicorn stepped out of the bush, his expression
casual. "Nah, I'm real. Fortunately for me. I think."
He sat down in front of her, seeming rather friendly.

Breeze slowly reached out a hoof and poked the other pony in the
chest "Yeah, you're real alright." she tilted her head
quizically "How long were you sat in the bush for?"

The unicorn immediately started to blush faintly when she poked
him. He turned his head. "Oh, uh, just studying. A lot of things
to study, you know. Bugs, rocks, bugs under rocks...rocks under
bugs."

"Ok that answers what you were doing, but not how long you were
there for." Breeze stood up and walked around the other pony a
full 360 degrees "Were you watching me?" she leaned in close, so
he had nowhere to look but at her and so he couldn't avoid eye
contact

"I uh..." he stuttered. "I might have been there an hour or
so-BUT I wasn't watching you. I'm n-not a stalker." he was
clearly nervous.

Breeze stayed in his face for a second or two longer before
smiling and sitting back down away from him. "It's ok, I don't
mind if you were. It would've been good actually, someone to
give me pointers on how to achieve more with my flying skills."
She held out a hoof "I'm Melody Breeze, but you can just call me
Breeze, everyone else does." She smiled warmly, all trace of
tiredness or hostility gone

The unicorn relaxed and shook her hoof. "Steam Pipe." he
replied. "Very nice to meet you, Melody." he was distracted by
something on the tree to his left. "Ooh, oh!" he exclaimed as he
pulled a small brass machine out of the bush and set it on the
tree. "Oh my! I knew it! Bellflies are still around!"
