       Fender Classic Player Jazzmaster Special
By: Henk van den Hurk Date: August 24, 2013, 6:33 am

I.m about to buy such a guitar. It seems a good thing to change
the bridge and move the tremolo handle up a little. Also the
other things like neck pocket, hotter pups seem valuable.
Talking about valuable, the price here (The Netherlands) is
about 900 Euros, which is not too far out.
What I would like to ask, is any of you familiar with this
guitar? I have no experience with Mexican Fenders, I do have
       experience with disappointments though...
Still another thing. As my amp (HiWatt SA210) doesn't have any
effects, I'm considering the Roland Space echo (RE20), as it
gives reverb + delay in one unit. Could it give a convincing
       sound? Thanx for your time.

I think before you start changing things on the guitar, maybe
play it for a while first.
There are other jazzmaster xperts here, so I'm sure they'll give
       you there opinion too.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, Fender did all those changes in
       the design already.
I'm just wondering about the quality of the guitar, wether it is
       a good choice.

One of the guys in our band has 1. Looks good, sounds good,
       plays grate.
I have the Squire version of that guitar. Not quite as good but
       it only cost $299!
It's good enuf for the few Ventures toons I use it for.

Hopefully Fender will pay me my commission for helping them sell
       one.
       Just joking. ;D

       Henk, Walt,
I purchased my Jazzmaster Classic Player a few months ago from
Sam Ash. I traded some gear for it. My only dissapoinment with
the guitar was that the frets stuck out from the fret board. Not
the best for moving your hands around. I spent a few hours
sanding them down to where I wanted them and have had no problem
with guitar otherwise. I love the sound and the action. You'll
have a tought time finding a hard shell cass for the Jazzmaster
but they are on ebay from time to time.
The only other problem was that they only had 1 guitar in their
store to try. Sure they will order one for you but I don't know
how many time they'll take a exchange if you don't like it
before you find one that you like.

       Hi Rich,
My store didn't have one, so they ordered one which arrived
today. But the people of the store phoned me about a problem
with the neck, a big chunk of wood is missing on the bass side
'round the 12th fret. The store has ordered a new one and is
sending this one back tot the importer. So I have to be patient
       for a couple of days...
That your frets were sticking out can be be caused by low
humidity. The wood shrinks and the frets don't.

       Thanks for posting, Rich.
I don't recall you telling me that.
I returned my 1st Squire JM to Sam Ash because the trem arm
wouldn't "lock"....the grips inside the collar were jammed tite
and coodn't be forced oopen by the store, so they figger they
best replace it. I actually had to go to a diffrent store
because each store only had 1 in stock.
They supposedly set it up, but Rich you did a better job than
       they did. ;D

Hi folks, report here from the new (Mexico made) jazzmaster.
Suffice to say that i'm very happy with it. It's a fine
supplement for my Stratocaster. The finish is quite beautiful,
actually it looks that the body is 1-piece(?), pick-ups are very
strong. The neck was terribly adjusted, action way too high. I
kind of fixed that, but for nut filing I went to an expert here
in Amsterdam. Now it plays wonderful, i noticed that the
neck-width is a little smaller than the strat, which is ok,
actually quite fast! 'Lonely Girl' sounds beautiful,
'Penetration' as well for that matter...
