Re: Nokie's Precision Bass

The real question Jeff is? Did Nokie use flat wound strings,
which I believe was all that was available at this time? Or did
he use round wound strings?
Those flat wound are just dead sounding but definately
identifiable when heard and very distinctive.
Bill Kestell preferred flat wounds on bass but I hate them.

Rich,
I have 2 basses. but I don't practice with them very often
because the guitar itself keeps me very busy.
So all I can say string-wise, is that I much prefer round-wounds
on my guitars.
They are 9>42 (Same as Nokie)

Jeff...I won't pay that kinda $ for bass strings...maybe only
change them 1 time/year??
I always buy these:
HTML http://www.sweetwater.com/store/search.php?s=d%27addario+bass+strings+2-pack&Go=Search
HTML http://www.sweetwater.com/store/search.php?s=d%27addario+bass+strings+2-pack&Go=Search
and even at that price, is "pushin' it."

We could do like Donald "Duck" Dunn of Booker T and The MGs; he
stated this in an interview:
"I never change the strings on my bass, in fact, I've only
changed one string in 15 years, and that's because it broke."
Ha! That would save a lot of $$$!
Jeff G.
P.S. Once upon a time I had old, old strings on a Fender bass,
and the guitar wouldn't play in tune beyond the 5th fret!
