New Member's Intro

Hello all, my name is Martyn (nick is Idleburger)
I've followed the Ventures for longer than I care to think about
these days. I was born in London (UK) but moved to Singapore
in the late 1950's where the Ventures were far more well known
than the Shadows. I have only been playing seriously for about
5 years so I've got a lot to learn and practice I am hoping that
I can pick up a few tips from this forum.
Kit: 52 Telecaster (reissue), Variax 700, Stratocaster Japanese
Paisley and Wilson Bros VM75
Great fan of all the 60s instrumental band and I really enjoy
watching many of the young Japanese Ventures fans playing on

Welcome aboard buddy. Thanks for the intro
particulars. This is a great site & you'll find
'quite helpful' in alot of areas related to
guitar playin.'
Ask away!
Walt will be along shortly with his own
personal greeting.

Welcome aboard, Martyn. My first question to you is are you
playing in one of the many bands that play this kind of music?
That would give you lots of experience/practice. Playing along
with records is fine, but playing in a band is different/better
experience altogether.

No I don''t play in a group, I'm unaware of any Ventures' type
groups in my area.
I use Garageband and lots of backing tracks to try and make a
reasonable noise. I know that you are correct, as I need some
one to explain & show me how to play the unique Nokie's version
of Caravan.

May not be any groups NOW, why don't you start a Ventures group?
Is there anything like Craig's list there where you can place
free ads looking for musicians to play?
Ask and ye shall receive.....ain't U toob great (sometimes):
