       Happy 4th of July 2012

to all of our esteemed FOTV members.
Whereever you are do your best to keep cool. Much of the USA is
enduring a heat wave. Only twice in the past 100 years has it
been this warm: summer of 1910 and 1947. No home air
       conditioning then ether. :'(

I hope your 4th of July was nevertheless enjoyable, Walt, all.
You may not know that for many years we celebrated our
independence day also on July 4th.
It is sad to see all those forest fires in the US. In contrast,
our dry season was very short this year, and the lawn sprinklers
barely turned on. It has been raining heavily, including
yesterday, and over the last three years the country has had
flooding in areas that never saw that before. The weather
       patterns have indeed changed.
       My best,
       Andy

The way to view weather is thru history. Did you know that
weather records have been kept in the USA for barely more than
100 years, and "accurate" ones since maybe the 1950's?
Who nose what the weather was like before that.
I remember growing up in Chicago....from what I remember HOT
summers, play out side a LOT and NO a/co (or color TV) at home.
WOW....how could I stand that? How spoiled we now are. ;D
