Sorry for taking so long to join the party, damn Ponibooru was
down and I couldn't access the Personal Messages.
May I throw something in to the mix? Feral Fluffy Ponies have,
in several stories, been hunted due to their effect on
low-growing crops such as most vegetables and root crops ... so
why not a country-wide shortage due to the booming numbers of
       Fluffy Ponies?
Cleveland has, for some reason, been selected as the site of a
food storage depo for the last remaining crops, the whole
country has scaled back overseas relief efforts to preserve the
population and soldiers are everywhere putting down food riots
       and keeping the peace.
Cue the Fluffy Ponies following the roads, closing in on the
largest human population centers due to there being an
'abundance' of food there. Also farmers slaughter Fluffy Ponies
in the thousands, sending them fleeing back to the 'safety' of
       suburbia.
Fluffies 'rampage' through the result of a large riot between
the civilians and the military, causing a variety of mishaps as
they catch on fire, set things on fire with their 'sparks'
(would take scores of Unicorns working together to
'accidentally' cause this) get caught up in the various
machinery that keeps our society going and general mishaps.
Fluffies find the food as the rioting gets worse and worse, and
then the civilians just fucking lose their collective nuts as
they realise that in their effort to 'fight the Man' and get
their food for their families, the fucking Fluffy Ponies have
       eaten everything else.
Military goes 'Oh Shit' as the Civilians take what firearms they
can get and start to viciously hunt down the Fluffy Ponies, in
turn doing even MORE damage as they shoot gas-lines, run into
power poles as they try to run down the Herds, etc etc.
Culminates in the Fluffies seeking shelter in the only 'safe
place' they can find. The Military Quarter.
Military is not impressed. But they are busy dealing with
Civilians going absolutely batshit insane and can't spare the
troops to exterminate the Fluffies themselves with thousands of
       gun-toting Civies running around.
Fluffies are hungry and eat the 'sketti' they find coming out of
       the walls.
Computers go nuts as Fluffies chew through the power and data
cords and cause the system to malfunction, launching a barrage
of missiles at Cleveland. Nuclear Reactor is optional, although
a leak would add to the hilarity/tragedy.
Have a stockpile of Corn nearby if we decide to go with the
humorous angle and have the radiation 'cook' them. Popcorn for
       all!

       Hey gang, I'm here too.
Like Neckbeard, it took awhile to get on board due to Ponibooru
going offline every four seconds. :P
Still, better late than never, right?
Yep, sounds like I'm thinking along the same lines as you guys
when it comes to the teaser ... I'm messing around with some
doodles already, and should hopefully have something to show you
soon. (The initial concept I've been working with has a ton of
fluffies flooding a city street - possibly with a billboard
proclaiming "Cleveland Rocks!" to unsubtly hint at the setting -
and the caption: "Huggies. Wuv. Pway. BWAINS.")
You guys are full of great ideas. Gotta say I find Fluffy 2.0 to
be creepy as hell, but I guess that's kind of the intention.
(And very much in keeping with the Hasbro tradition of
"updating" their toylines and ruining everything that was good
       about them in the process.)
Something that occurred to me, inspired by shady practices used
by real-life console manufacturers these days - what if the 2.0
fluffies have microchips in their brains with wi-fi capability?
The intent is for them to download "updates" from Hasbro that
change their behaviour accordingly (for instance "only NEW
Twice-As-Expensive Fluffy Chow (tm) is acceptable to eat"). Of
course, there's any number of things that could go wrong with
that, or provide for useful plot devices.
Speaking of plot devices, having read a few of the notes so far,
I think that a number of things together could logically explain
"why Cleveland", if it was something that had been building over
       the course of several months.
I imagine it goes something like this: Cleveland tries to
attract Fluffy owners as a source of tourism by making the city
"fluffy friendly" and having a nationwide ad campaign to that
       effect.
Because of the pervasive national ad campaign, many fluffies
have seen the ads themselves. The ones who end up abandoned /
running away from home / getting lost in a balloon accident or
whatever, will understand with their tiny fluffy minds that
"Cwevewand" is the promised land for Fluffies, and will pass
this information on to other stray fluffies they encounter. It
wouldn't take long for this to spread a la "telephone game",
causing a mass believe that Cleveland is the magical land of
       spaghetti and hugs.
Meanwhile, Hasbro Biotoys could use Cleveland as the test market
for their 2.0 fluffies because the city has come across as so
"pro-fluffy". Of course, all these factors will then combine
       into disaster.

The telephone game. works for me. We can seed stories of fluffy
ponies seeing commercials for Cleveland and Spaghetti Land in
       phase 1.

Perhaps we should separate Phase 1 into subphases:
Phase 1a) Drop a subtle reference. Have a character sing a line
of Cleveland Rocks, have an ad for Spaghetti Land in the
       background.
Phase 1b) Blatently mention something that is part of the plan.
I especially love the telephone game idea, as the very nature of
the telephone game is that word of mouth leads to distort. A
few fluffies down the road, and you've got something much more
than a theme park in an economically depressed city in Ohio.
Phase 1c) Get the characters you want in Cleveland on the date
to Cleveland. have them set up whatever sort of shop they'll
need for your Phase 2 Event story.
As always, I'm not going to tell you what to write, this is more
of "ideas for an idealized set of stories for someone who has a
       lot of time."
Mr. Neckbeard and Mr. Maximus, and all of us if we want to do
the above, should we go farther than 29 June? Now that we have
our artist on board, we want to drop the reference to the date,
       so we should settle.
We should also figure out time zones - I know we've added an
Austrailian to our mix. (Wait, Neckbeard, do you understand how
bad Cleveland is? If I understand my Australian jokes right,
it's like Adelaide without the churches. Unless you're from
Adelaide. Screw it, there are videos on page 1.)
Also, with the exception of deathproofpony, who we have
attempted contact with through various means, we have assembled.
Is there anyone else we should invite?

Should we invite more artists? I'm not sure if Art Anon is
interested in doing more fluffy pony art, but it's worth a shot.
Has anyone gotten hold of Ginger Fig? He draws and writes very
       well.
Neckbeard, for the love of fluffy God, please tell me you can do
another fluffy POV story for Cleveland. You're the champ at
       those.

I should make mention that I've started a story about a domestic
fluffy who's owner intends to take him to Spaghetti Land; and
then one evening a small feral herd comes by asking him for food
and the excited fluffy tells them about Spaghetti Land thus
setting off part of the telephone chain. I should have it up in
the story bits section by night or tomorrow

And yeah, I had forgotten, but Ginger_Fig is on board, so if
anyone knows his contact information outside of Ponibooru,
please direct him here. (Ginger_Fig is a him? With a name like
Ginger and Fig, I did not expect it.)

Before I begin writing my phase one work, a note about the
military's possible strategy against fluffy ponies.
During the Cold War, NATO was faced with the likelihood of a
massed Soviet attack across the Fulda Gap in central Germany.
To defend against quite literally thousands of enemy tanks and
possibly ten million enemy soldiers, various weapons were
developed. Among these, of course, are the already familiar
enhanced radiation weapons -- neutron bombs. But that wasn't
all. NATO would have used tactical nuclear weapons; in fact,
they designed and fielded rather odd devices, such as the
M28/M29 Davy Crockett, which was a sub kiloton nuke fired from a
recoilless rifle. In fact, NATO would have saturated central
Europe with all manner of non-conventional weaponry to stop the
       Red Tsunami.
There were conventional weapons too. Vehicles like the A-10
Thunderbolt II and AH-64 Apache are basically multi-million
dollar can openers, designed to crack hordes of Warsaw Pact
       tanks.
I believe that the US armed forces would take a similar
approach, at least on the conventional front, to the fluffy
plague. Substitute T-72s and BMP-1s with fluffy earth ponies
and fluffy unicorns, and you have a similar massed threat
situation. This is not to say the Air Force would be using
A-10s on herds, but imagine the possibilities with unmanned
drones. Drones already carry weapons; the RQ-1/MQ-9 are what
the United States uses in this role. Available weapons for
these drones are plentiful: AGM-65 Hellfire missiles,
       laser-guided GBU-12 500 pound bombs, and the GPS-guided GBU-38
with the JDAM package are real-world options. If you peer into
the very near future, an extremely likely weapon option is the
Clean Lightweight Area Weapon, a 64 pound cluster bomb that uses
advanced explosives to achieve a football field-sized area of
effectiveness. Since the CLAW has built-in deactivation that
renders the weapons inert after a few minutes if they don't
explode, it would be highly preferred for operations in a
civilian area, even one that has been evacuated, as there are no
live sub-munitions to clean up later.
You can see a test of the CLAW here:
  HTML http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2371883796835965841
MQ-9s attacking fluffy ponies would be enough to drive them
anywhere the plot required. To the nuclear generating station,
to a pre-planned holding area rigged with nuclear/chemical
       weapons, or whatever.
Anyway, I have to go work on my phase one stuff now. Not sure
how I'm going to deal with Fluffy 2.0 yet.
And no, I don't know why I know all of this military stuff.
