New unit - purchased from B and H - received 9-23-2015
Tried to set up my new falcon zero f170hd but ran into a
problem. Inserted the supplied 64 GB sd card as per instructions
and was shown a blue screen with message "memory error". Tried
again but got same result. - not willing to use my own SD cards
for further testing until I hear from you <edit> problem
resolved after multiple reformats - <question> After I copy a
protected file to my desktop HD - how can I remove it from the
SD card w/o reformatting the SD card

Re: Inadequate documentation F170
By: maicaw@hotmail.com Date: September 25, 2015, 1:09 pm

There are many mode and menu items that are unexplained or
ambiguous - I think your FAQ should have a glossary giving a
useful description of each item on the menus and displays and/or
a page reference to the manual explanation. e.g. "Anti
shaking", "Parking" etc. - The manual (pg16) says that pressing
the MENU button while recording toggles the "night vision" - on
page 17 it says the MODE button toggles both night vision AND
microphone - however the MENU has no effect on the "night
vision" icon on the right of the display (#11 pg 20 ) and the
MODE button seems to toggle the microphone icon -- VERY
confusing --
You also must be aware your
HTML http://falconzero.com/downloads/F170HD_Manual.pdf
is not
searchable ( Ctl-F )and is not printable ( Ctl-P )
- Apparently you are using an incompatible non-adobe or obsolete
PDF writer to generate the PDFs - Please upgrade your PDF
writerto current PDF standards.
Since this Dashcam has probably the same chips as other
identical products on the market ( Vantrue )- You could email
links to any better (English) translations that may exist on the
Web to save time and hassle for your customers.

Odd behavior of the Zero
By: juanmadera Date: November 12, 2015, 8:29 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Hi; My Zero has issues. It "forgets" the date at times and just
today said the "card is full" so I erased the data on it, but
this is something new. Any help here? Bought March 16 of this
year. Last time I tried to reset the time and date it would not
let me into the menu so I took out the card and repowered, then
reinserted the card and it then let me into the menu.

My Falcon Zero F170HD constantly displays a blue "card full"
msg. this goes out for a few seconds then returns. I have a
different camera in my pickup that I never erase and when it
starts, I get a full card msg but then it just records until I
park it. What am I doing wrong with my Falcon? I bought it just
to record all my driving and I really don't need to see what's
on it until, God Forbid, I get into an accident. I read up
screen about the motion sensor being on is using memory, did
that mean that I have to turn off the motion before I drive
anywhere and then reset it when I park?

Re: FAQs - Suspect my Falcon Zero F360 unit needs NEW BATTERY???
By: GDog Date: April 14, 2019, 1:42 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Hello everyone, first post ever here. When
I started this post, I got a warning, says: "Warning: this topic
has not been posted in for at least 120 days. Unless you're sure
you want to reply, please consider starting a new topic."
However, when reading, Admin says this FAQ thread is where they
want us to post to answer all our questions. Sooo, at the risk
of not being recognized here goes:
I have one of the first F-360's on the market. Used it for
Driving Uber & Lyft for last 3 years without any probs until
now. It has saved my bacon on at least 3 crucial occasions: 2 of
them are accidents where the other guy tried to claim it was my
fault, and the 3rd rescued me from an "inappropriate behavior"
accusation levied by a Pax (rider). I would never be without it.
BUT ... recently it has started shutting itself down way too
quickly after the ignition is turned off, causing problems in
RE-booting when the car is started again. I have always thought
that was the purpose of the small battery that is installed
inside the unit. AND, I suspect it is THAT battery that has
probably become worn out and can no longer carry enough juice to
do what it needs to do. I am pretty tech savvy and I can replace
it myself, BUT - I cannot find a SINGLE thing on this site or
YouTube, or ANYWHERE on the internet as to exactly how this
should be done. Can anyone help me here with this task?
Appreciate the help!

Sup GDog. So my Falcon f360 just crapped out on me about a week
ago. I actually found out it was just because the supplied SD
card finally got tired of recording for the last 2 years so I
replaced it and I was good to go, but the device still died the
instant I cut power to the car. I decided after looking around
on the internet and finding your post to take a quick look at
the insides. It's very easy to take apart, just maybe 9 screws
in the back. When opening it, BE CAREFUL because the speaker is
glued to the back panel, so if you take it apart you will likely
just rip your speaker out. To be honest, I saw this and didn't
care and ripped the tiny little speaker out. If you ever need to
play back audio on this thing I would just pop your SD card in
your phone to view it or a laptop. Anyways, the device is about
75% empty space, and the tiny little 600 mAh battery is glued
right to the back of the screen. peel it off carefully and
remove it with some scissors or your preferred tool. You can use
ANY 3.7V battery to replace it. I have 2 old portable powerbanks
from amazone which had 6 individual 18650 batteries (already
wired in parallel). The inside of this device has room for 5 of
them, so I cut one off and just added the new battery just like
that with a 4 dollar soldering iron from wal mart and 1 dollar
worth of solder. I had to do a tiny bit of plastic cutting with
literally nothing more than some toenail clippers but now
instead of a cheapo 600 mAh battery it has a work horse battery
of somewhere between 12,000-14,000 mAh
Hope this answers your quesiton. Don't know if it helps you 3
months later. If you got a new dash cam let me know which one
and if it was worth it over repairing this one.
