The Elemental by Elemental Trance

---------------------------------------------------------
The Elemental are a group located in the middle of a mountain.
The group is dedicated to the destruction of the Nephoul, a
machine-like race that disguise themselves as humans. For
unknown reasons the race has been targeting Elementists for
centuries, bent on wiping out the entire population that can
control the Elements.
The Nephoul can electrocute anyone who stands in their way and
possess several "attachments" that are used for fighting. They
are humanoid in shape and use rubber and paint to disguise
themselves as humans. They also use holographic stones that they
store in their compartments. Nephoul can be found out by
touching them; if they suspected person feels unnaturally hard
and cold then it isn't a human at all.
The world's population is split into four groups:
Quarterpower: This group makes up half of the humans on earth.
Their minds have four sections, each one devoted to one of the
four elements. Because of this, they cannot use any part of
their mind to harness power, due to each element dampening it's
oppisite's cababilities (Eg: Fire cancels out Water, Earth
cancels out Air, and vice versa.)
Tripower: This section is found in a third of the people alive.
These people can use one of their elements found in their brain,
but with rough skill. There is, however, an upside; their
element will never spin out of control, as it is too weak to do
so.
Halfpower: This is found in approximately one fith of the
population. They can use both of their elements, but if the two
elements are oppisites, their power is considerably weakened.
Embodiment: This is the ultimate degree of elemental power,
enabling the holder to actually create their element out of thin
air, and harnessing element already in existence with extreme
force and/or skill. But in some cicumstances the element will
blast out of control, causing it to backfire on the user. Only
one in a billion of the humans on earth are born with this
ability, but many bargain with demons to obtain it; in doing
this they are forever bound to the giver, owing a lifetime of
service to it
(Note: Not all demons are evil. For example the demon Isis is a
kind demon; other examples are Bast, Hades, (Surprisingly.)
Nepti, Kronos, Zentaph and The Demon of a Thousand Tails.
Key Emotions: Hundreds of years ago, a water embodiment
discovered that every human in the Tripower group or above had a
certain emotion that would trigger their powers and make them
stronger. Other emotions would make them weaker. He presented
his studies to the Council of Power, and they shared his ideas
with the elemental world. He was renowned for this and later
became a council member himself. His discovery started to expand
onto the grounds that each element had certain sets of emotions
that were very commonly found to be Key emotions. Here is a
chart of common key emotions and the elements they belong to:
Earth:
Confidence
Protectiveness
Stability
Anger (Note: Anger and Rage are totally diferent emotions. Anger
is somewhat controlled, while Rage is a wild beast out of it's
cage.)
Air:
Fear
Happiness
Excitement
Adrenaline Rush
Water:
Calm
Sadness
Understanding
Clarity
Fire:
Rage
Adrenaline Rush
Confidence
Power
Power Mode: This happens only when an extreme key emotion
occurs, increasing the user's power and changing the physical
appearance of the person to a degree. (Examples: Eyes, teeth,
hands become a shape and color that represents their Element.)
It is easy to accidentally slide into power mode for an
Embodiment, harder for a Halfpower, and difficult for a
Tripower.
Information on Color:
There is one person, every 500 years, who is given the power of
Color. This person can control Shadow and Light, as well as
create illusions, install emotions, and communicate with
animals. There are other abilities, but very little is known
about these Elementists, as they are extremely rare. Color
Elementals keep themselves alive and in an eternally youthful
form by feeding off other people's emotions. But since emotions
are regularly refueled, it is nearly impossible to harm a person
by doing so. (Note: Color Elementists do not belong in any of
the normal "Power" categories.)
Shifters: Shifters are Elementals who have battled their Symbol
Animal and won. If they win, the animal will transfer a small
amount of it's power into the human and so will give the human
the ability to change into that animal for short periods of
time. Vice versa if the human loses. There are rules, however.
Each Element has two Symbol Animals; down below is a list. A
Fire Embodiment cannot duel for power from a Symbol Animal of
Water. Each Elemental must only battle it's own Symbol. But you
may only battle the same animal once, unless you both agree to a
rematch. You can battle a different animal of the same species
within the rules though.
Earth Animals:
Horse
Bear (Any subspecies except polar bear.)
Water Animals:
Snake (Any type; preferred type is mostly water moccasins.)
Wolf
Fire Animals:
Dragon
Cat (Wild or domesticated.)
Air Animals:
Bird (Any.)
Mouse.
****************************************************************
Oh, right...you don't know who the characters are yet. Well, let
me introduce you.
(Oldest to youngest.)
Visalia:
Visalia is an Earth Embodiment, and the oldest in the group.
(Only by a few months though; Aeia's second.) She acts like it
too, always serious and confident. She has problems expressing
her emotions though, and can be a little tough on others.
Visalia is always making sure that everyone behaves, especially
Nirralia, and will almost never waste words; a hard knock on the
head is enough for her.
Visalia was taken to a lab across the country when the head of
Paul's Orphanage realized her powers. She eventually escaped the
brutal scientists after she blew up the laboratory and wound up
being discovered by the Elemental Council. The girl made
Elemental history as the youngest person to ever go into Power
Mode. (Hence the destruction of the laboratory.) Her hair is
dark brown and cut extremely short, and her eyes are hazel.
Current Age: 16
Aeia:
Aeia Nile has a very peculiar history. She was born in the year
1713, and discovered her powers at the age of ten. Due to her
society and it's witch hunts, she managed to keep her powers a
secret until her sixteenth birthday; at which the surrounding
townspeople stormed her house and killed her parents. She fled
into the woods nearby and fell into a portal accidentally
conjured by Nirralia Else. She arrived at the present date and
toppled straight into the center of the Elemental Council room.
The current meeting was put on hold and Aeia was accepted into
the Elemental Center.
Aeia has an English accent, due to her family being English
immigrants. She is very well-mannered and intelligent, but can
be deceitful. She learned to read with genuine enthusiasm, and
after a while could read extremely well. Her icy side will pop
up occasionally and leave others with the impression of a coldly
indifferent person. Normally however she is kind and helpful,
even to Tyia...mostly. Her hair is very long and wavy; it's also
black. Her eyes of course are bright blue.
Current Age: 16
Tyia:
There are very few words that can accurately describe Tyia
Ashen. She is very bitter due to her past, but has a bright side
as well. No one can ever completely bring that part of her out
without years of hard work, but maybe that is for the best. She
is very tough, but will cry. However, no one has actually seen
her cry actual tears; for some unfathomable reason Tyia will cry
droplets of lava. She will often unwittingly reveal her state of
emotion to everyone by forgetting to wash off the crust of soft
rock that forms. She is a person very susceptible to anger and
will unconsciously set random objects on fire. Her eyes are a
dark amber color and her hair is auburn colored. It's cut in a
spiked style near the bottom making her hair look like flames.
Tyia's father frequently abused her during her childhood. She
eventually burned him badly, resulting in him leaving her and
her mother. Sarah Ashen died of cancer a few weeks later. Tyia
ran away in rage and was picked up by the Elemental.
Current Age: 15
Nirralia:
Nirralia Else is unique in every other respect, but lived a
moderately average history. She was the child of a single mother
who died in a car crash. Nirralia was adopted by a couple who
were part of the Elemental and they discovered her powers. She
is very light and free and hates to blend in with the world.
Nirralia has a tendency to float in the air when she is excited
and do several flips in appreciation of a momentous occasion.
She has a sort of "Pinkie Pie" personality but will become
serious if it is needed. Her hair is a very pale blond and her
eyes are ice blue.
Current Age: 14
I will only continue to the actual story if you think it's worth
doing. Please tell me what you think of my plot and characters!
(Please post! )
Edit: Here it is!:
Chapter One
Tyia grumbled as a young boy in messenger uniform scampered up
to her side. Her annoyance turned to mild surprise as she
realized that his letter bore the seal of the Elemental Council.
She took the envelope from his small hands and pried the circle
of black wax off. It was understandable that she would receive a
few messages from the Council, but even an Embodiment would be
curious as to what they contained.
Addressed to: Tyia Ashen.
The Elemental Council calls you to a meeting held in the Council
Hall. Others present will include the following;
Visalia Nock
Nirralia Else
Aeia Nile.
If you have scheduled another occupation, make the necessary
preparations to cancel it immediately. This meeting is a great
priority to all Council members and anyone who is invited to
take part in it's events.
Time: 2:35 P.M.
Tyia frowned. She knew about Visalia Nock, and Nirralia was that
bouncy girl who kept following her all the time. But who was
Aeia? If the three others were all Embodiments of Fire, Earth
and Air, perhaps Aeia was a Water Embodiment? An idea that
seemed detestable at best. She sighed and tucked the sheet of
paper back into the envelope, glancing at the clock as she did
so. 1:45. Tyia had enough time on her hands to get back to her
sparring, eat a portion of her lunch and head to the Council
Hall.
With five minutes to spare.
***************************************************************
Aeia shivered, still cold from her run across the river. She
wiped the tears out of her eyes as she looked for somewhere to
hide. She hadn't considered where she would go after she ran
away. Maybe another town nearby would give her shelter, but she
had no idea where shelter was. There was no place to go except
the surrounding woods. But Winter wasn't over yet; she would
either freeze or starve out here.
Aeia fell down onto the snow, feeling cold numbness through the
thin gray dress she wore. She forced her feet to move, begging
them not to give out again. Darkness was surrounding the world,
night falling like a thick veil around the trees.
But then it was all light.
Blinding whiteness was enveloping her eyes, making her close
them against her will. It was warm, but also bare and cold, like
chalk marks drawn on nothing. She tried slitting her eyes, but
even that was unbearable, so she waited.
Waited.
Eventually, she began to hear voices. Aeia cracked open one eye,
and then the other, and the voices stopped.
"Pardon me." She said to the audience of stunned Council
members.
*****************************************************************
"So I opened a portal? In another time period!?" Nirralia
gasped, then spread a smile across her face. "Wow!"
"Indeed. Air Embodiments are natural Portal Openers.
Unfortunately however, a Time portal can only be opened once in
an Air Embodiment's lifetime."
Nirralia's smile dropped. "Oh. So...we can't send her back? At
all?"
The leader of the Elemental Council shook his head. "No. Air
Embodiments are extremely rare, and you are the only natural
one. Aeia will have to stay here."
"Oh, okay." Nirralia said, her nearly ever-present smile forming
agsin as she turned to the other girl. "Well, welcome to the
Elemental! It appears you have some elemental power in you, so
we're gonna figure out how much!" She grinned. "You could be a
Halfpower, or a Tripower...I'm an Embodiment, but those are
really rare. Watch this!"
The Air Elemental floated up to the ceiling, doing a few flips
in the process. "See? Cool right?! I love flying, and I-"
"Nirralia, honey." A woman in the far right corner chuckled. "I
think you're overwhelming her."
Aeia's mouth hung open, staring at the unearthly sight of a
floating human being. "Is it true?" She whispered. "You're like
me?"
Nirralia tilted her head, looking at the girl. "Like you? Have
you discovered your power already?! That's great! You're
probably a Halfpower, is what I'm thinking."
Aeia cupped her hands, looking down. She created a small puddle
in her palm, moving it around between her fingers. "I can do
many different things with Water...what is this "Halfpower" you
speak of?
Nirralia touched the surface of Aeia's hands, observing the
collection of Water. "A Halfpower's an Elemental that can
control two Elements; mostly Airwater, or Earthfire, but
sometimes a Halfpower can do Waterfire. No one has ever been
Earthair before though. They're the polar opposites, not Fire
and Water. But those're opposites too..." Nirralia trailed off,
going red as she realized she was on a tangent. "Ehrm, sorry."
Aeia smiled. "Do not be. Your words were very helpful. But if I
am a Halfpower, how is it that I have never done anything with
Air, or Fire, or Earth?"
Nirralia touched her chin, thinking. "Well, maybe you just
haven't discovered how to do it yet. We could try teaching
you...but first, let's see the stuff you can do with Water!" She
bounced excitedly, thinking about it.
Aeia frowned. "I cannot create large amounts of Water, so
perhaps a river would be appropriate."
"Of course!"
Chapter Two
Tyia burst into the Council Hall, scanning the room for people.
"Hello?" She called, resting her hands on her hips. "Darn. Did
they get the time on the invitation wrong? But it's
unlocked...they don't usually do that."
Tyia walked over to one of the seats, puzzled when she
discovered a piece of paper. She quickly read the words written
on it, then smiled.
"Now, whatever made the high-and-mighty Elemental Council go all
the way down to the river?"
********************************************************************
Aeia stood in the dappled water, exhaling as she closed her
eyes. The whole river lifted, swirling around her. She raised
her hands to the tornado, Ice spreading out from where she
touched. The Ice shifted and writhed, turning into a snake. The
huge frozen reptile's body resembled the river from whence it
came, a flowing twisting mass.
Aeia let the snake gently float to the ground, it's head coming
up to meet her hand. Her closed eyes opened, but instead of the
serene blue of their original form, they were globes of cracked
Ice.
Cold and lifeless.
Nirralia gasped. "She...she's in Power Mode! But there isn't
anything to resemble Air, or Fire, or Earth..."
The Council Leader nodded grimly.
Aeia touched the snake lightly, it's giant head half as big as
her body. She stood motionless as it coiled around her, cold
scales lengthening into armor while the rest of the snake
slithered back to the riverbed. The translucent Ice covered her
body, Aeia's face remaining unveiled.
The girl turned to the shocked Council, giving them a blank look
before her eyes closed once again, opening as the blue irises
that she had originally had. Aeia slowly looked at her armor
before allowing it to melt off of her and join the stream.
Nirralia gaped at her. "That- that was awesome!" She flew over
to Aeia, patting her on the back. "That snake was really cool
too!" The Air Embodiment giggled, jumping up and down. A
confused Aeia smiled and did a little bounce as well. "Thank you
Nirralia. I admit I felt strangely- distant for an instant, but
I'm glad you enjoyed my demonstration."
The Council Leader frowned as he hurried over his robe flapping
in the small wind. "Aeia Nile- you- you are..." He trailed off,
still having a frown plastered on his wrinkled face.
She glanced over. "Yes?"
"...An Embodiment. By Intricate, an Embodiment."
Her eyes narrowed. "Perhaps...I have never responded to any
other Element. But can you be sure?"
He sputtered. "Dear, I am certainly sure. When you were in Power
Mode-"
"Power Mode?" Aeia questioned.
He grumbled. "Nirralia, please explain."
"Sure Grampa!"
Aeia's mouth dropped open and she started to say something, but
Nirralia whisked her away before she could get out the first
syllable.
******************************************************************
Tyia blasted out into the Committee, knocking a few Council
Members into the river. "Okay, where's this Aeia? Who is she?
WHO!?!"
The council Leader grimaced as Tyia launched into another
tirade, demanding that someone took her to see Aeia and see her
now.
Visalia walked over, and without any further ceremony, promptly
knocked the ranting girl on the head.
"OW!"
Visalia glared at her, hushing the fire Embodiment quickly.
"I'll take you to Aeia, but you're going to have to shut up
first."
Tyia snapped at her, but eventually calmed down- at least as
much as could be expected from her- and followed Visalia, still
grumbling.
Meanwhile, Aeia was sorting out information about Embodiments
and Power Mode, and was still trying to decide whether or not
the vanilla ice cream Nirralia was going on about had any
relation to the subject they were supposed to be on.
"...And strawberry is good too, although I like Oreo as well-"
Nirralia stopped talking abruptly as she realized she was being
watched by two incredulous pairs of eyes.
"Oh, Hi Tyia!" She called, waving. "Visalia too! Awesome! You
know this means that there are four Embodiments in here, right
Aeia? And all different Elements! Earth, Fire, Water,
annnd...Air!" Nirralia finished, pointing at each Elemental in
turn. "Yay!"
Visalia put her palm over her face, groaning as she endured
Nirralia's ceaseless chatter. For this reason she was the last
one to see Tyia marching over to Aeia and looking over her head
to toe, only to recoil as Water aura hit her senses.
"Ugh! What the heck! Too much perfume!!! Aah!" The girl
screamed, running around in circles as Aeia looked on, seeming
extremely confused.
Chapter Three
Visalia looked around at the chaotic scene. Tyia was still
running around, her legs moving even faster when Aeia chased
after her.
"Stay away from me!"
"I am merely trying to help you!" Aeia called, propelling
herself along with a small stream of Ice.
"I don't need help!!" The Fire Embodiment called back, shooting
into the air as flames appeared underneath her feet.
Aeia sighed, still puzzled at her strange behavior. She walked
over to Visalia, sitting down next to her.
"Is she always like this?" She asked, folding her hands.
Visalia nodded. "Ever since I met her; she'll blow anything up
that she doesn't like the look of."
The girl gave a little jump. "Oh. Such is the way of the Fire
Embodiment I suppose."
Nirralia popped her head into Aeia's line of vision, causing her
to topple over in the grass. "Oops, sorry!" She cried. "You
okay? I didn't mean to scare you, are you alright?"
The Water Embodiment sat up again, rubbing her head. "I'm fine.
What is it?"
Nirralia pointed back towards the river where the Council was
grumpily complaining about their absence.
**************************************************************
However, once they returned to the Council Hall, it appeared
that the leader had a "surprise" for them.
"Aeia's arrival was not the primary cause of this meeting." He
said, fiddling with his coat buttons. "There is a much darker
problem at work here."
Tyia scoffed. "Right. Get all drama queenly on us and see how we
react."
He scowled, glaring at her. "This is nothing to joke about, Miss
Ashen. The entire world is dying. It's lifeblood -Magic- is
draining away, being sucked out by some infernal machine. The
earth is crumbling. Water sources are draining away, the
remainder polluted and deadly. The air is filled with fumes and
gases. And lastly, as well as most importantly, the sun is going
out."
Tyia clenched her fists, a ripple of anger moving across her
face. "Well, what can we do about it?! There has to be some way
of shutting the process down!"
He shook his head sadly. "Indeed, there is, but you would never
consent to it. However..." An impassive gaze swept up from his
eyes. "We have no choice. Guards!" He called, the robed men
lining the room falling into line. "Take them to the area we
spoke of. I will meet you there." The man turned and left,
leaving a dumbfounded Council in his wake.
Chapter Four
Tyia growled, lighting one of the guard's capes on fire. She
chuckled as Aeia rushed to put it out, her laughter turning into
a snarl when the Water Embodiment began to interrogate her. As
the two were fighting, the remaining guards formed a line
between them, seperating the arguing girls.
"Hey! Cut it out!" Tyia glared at them, but her angry stares
enduced nothing more than a glance from the sentries.
Nirralia floated on a cummulus cloud, hovering like a genie
above everyone. She giggled as that thought came to her,
imagining what she would look like in a turban.
"Aeia! Hey! Aaaaeeia!"
Aeia turned around in a circle, but couldn't find the source of
the voice. A shadow covered her and she looked up, gasping as
she saw the large cloud. "Oh...! Hello Nirralia!" Aeia poked the
cloud gently, her hand going through it.
"Ow!" Nirralia yelped. "Sharp nails there!"
The girl withdrew her hand, examining it. "Sorry." She called.
Visalia trotted along, bored. "Why doesn't Nirralia just
teleport us there?" She asked.
The Air Embodiment flopped down on her cloud, sighing. "I wish.
But I can't teleport more than one person at once. That'll
happen as soon as I find another Air Embodiment to teach me. Or
an extremely talented halfpower."
Visalia moaned. "Fine, I'm going." She said as mound of dirt
expanded, pushing her forward. Visalia jumped off, letting the
ground swallow her. "Come on!"
Nirralia's face turned a green shade as she looked at the tunnel
entrance. "N-no thanks." She whimpered. "I'm, uh,
claustrophobic." She flew up to the sky, zooming around. "I'll
follow you!" Nirralia yelled.
Visalia shrugged, diving back in. Aeia stepped in cautiously,
quickly glancing around.
"Tyia, are you coming?" She asked, looking at the Elemental.
"Nah." She said, rocketing after Nirralia. "I'll go with her!"
********************************************************************
After everyone had made it to the "place", which turned out to
be a large mountain, ;) the Council Leader appeared.
"What's the big deal?" Tyia asked as soon as she saw him. "And
why the mountain? And-"
He held up his hand for silence. Tyia grudgingly gave it to him,
but before long Nirralia took over.
"Yeah, I bet everyone's wondering that." She said. "So-"
"Sh!" He whispered. "Don't you hear it?"
Aeia closed her eyes, letting her ears take in the landscape
instead of her eyes. A faint rumble shook the area, but it
wasn't the sound of earth shaking.
"It's some sort of beast..." She mused "Very big, to make such a
loud sound."
"A dragon." The Head muttered. "Dangerous if they want to be,
yet very protective of their...masters."
Tyia snorted. "Dragons don't have masters. More like
companions."
He looked at Aeia. "Miss Ashen has been persisting for quite
some time now in her quest to be a Dragon Shifter."
Nirralia shied away from the fearsome growls coming from the
inner chambers of the mountain. "She's going to battle
a...dragon?" She squeaked.
"Apparently." Visalia said. "The shifting process was never
fully explained to me; would you mind?"
Tyia sat down in the short grass, crossing her legs. "You have
to go to one of the Symbol Animals. Dragon, Cat, Horse,
Bird...Snake." She spat. "There are more, but I don't want to go
into that. Anyway, you battle the animal. Whoever wins gets a
little bit of the loser's power." The Fire Embodiment growled.
"And that's not going to be me."
Aeia raised a hand, wanting to ask a question. "Is...is a wolf
one of the Symbol Animals?"
Tyia raised an eyebrow. "Yes. How did you know?"
Aeia frowned. "I fought a wolf out in the woods when I was still
in my time period. He could control Water as well, so I rather
shocked. And weeks later..." She pulled up the sleeve of the
shirt they had given her.
"What!? But-but..." Tyia's mouth hung open. "You're a Wolf
Shifter!?"
Nirralia gazed at the bluish black mark on her arm. "Yep. That's
the Wolf Symbol."
Tyia stomped the packed dirt underneath her feet. "That isn't
fair! Are you sure?"
Visalia sat in a stone chair that had just risen up out of the
grassy floor. "Aeia, could you try turning into a wolf?"
"But how?" She asked. "I've never tried."
Visalia sighed. "Do the same thing you do to control Water;
whatever that is."
Aeia nodded hesitantly, looking at the mark on her arm before
closing her eyes. A slight wind ruffled the stillness, as no one
dared to move.
Aeia opened her eyes, looking at her feet. "I- I don't think..."
She trailed off in amazement, still staring at her feet, as if
they had disappeared.
In fact, they had.
Everyone, even Nirralia watched in awed silence as cells of skin
and hair shifted and broke apart. The small specks of color
swirled in the air before returning to each other as a black and
silver-furred wolf.
The canine blinked slowly, assessing the cavern. She turned to
look at Visalia, walking to her side.
"What's she doing?" Nirralia whispered.
Visalia watched in mild surprise as Aeia put her front paw in
her lap. "I don't know either." She answered.
Aeia shook her head, barking softly.
Tyia grinned. "I think she can't change back."
The wolf whimpered, nodding.
Visalia pinched the bridge of her nose, groaning in obvious
frustration.
*********************************************************
After several minutes, Aeia resumed her human form, yawning and
stretching her arms. "I felt very relaxed and comfortable in
that form." She yawned again. "I wonder...mmm...why."
Tyia looked at her. "Being in Shifter form enhances key
emotions." She recited. "I'm betting yours is Calm."
Aeia turned towards her. "That would make sense." She paused.
"And, what is yours?"
Tyia bared her teeth mockingly. "Rage."
Aeia shied away from her.
The Leader of the Council leaned forwards. "I'm impressed, Miss
Nile. But, I think perhaps we should give Tyia a chance. Are you
ready dear?"
Tyia growled. "Don't call me dear. And yes, I am ready."
The Head narrowed his eyes. "Then proceed."
Tyia knocked her fists together. "You bet!" She yelled, running
to the cave entrance and...jumping into the sky.
Aeia frowned. "She is showing off."
Nirralia peeked outside, gasping as Tyia rocketed straight
towards the valley containing the dragon.
"Show yourself!" The Fire Embodiment yelled down, hovering
above.
The dragon roared, lashing it's tail.
"I declare a battle!" Tyia called. "Dragon, tell me your name!"
The beast took it's claws out from the ground, carving figures
in the sandy floor. The glyphs lit on Fire, brightly spelling
out a name...
"Tyia Ashen is my title!" She called. "I challenge the dragon
Aναπνοήφωτιά
for power!"
The dragon screeched, copper tail spikes high in the air. It
spread it's wings, leaping at her.
Tyia thrust out her fists, lightning crackling into a sphere.
Aναπνοήφωτιά
hissed, recoiling from the white bolts. It landed back on the
ground, pacing around her...then blew out a dart of fire,
grinning.
Tyia fell from the sky, raging.
Aeia gasped. "Is she alright?"
Visalia nodded.
Tyia flicked her wrists, revealing two sharp black and silver
blades. Sparks flared from the carvings embedded in her weapons,
bright white heat pulsing in and out of existence.
"The Twin Knives." Nirralia whispered. "Wow."
"I lent them to her for this occasion." The Leader said calmly.
"if she proves worthy, they will be handed over to her."
Tyia screamed something at the dragon. It breathed Fire at her
in response, growling when she bent it back with lightning. The
beast nipped at her with it's jaws, but she was too fast for the
snapping fangs of the dragon.
Tyia held up her knives, slashing at the dragon's hide. She
smirked as it flinched, howling in pain. The dragon slashed at
her with it's claws, aiming for the Fire Embodiment with swift
accuracy.
Tyia fell onto the ground, then charged back into battle. A
phoenix spread it's wings behind her, shrieking at the newfound
enemy.
While the dragon fought off the phoenix, Tyia jabbed at it's
scales with her blades. It looked like the human was winning
until-
Crunch.
Tyia gave a gasp of pain as the animal's foot cracked her arm
bone, little drops of lava falling from her face.
Nirralia started to fly to her, but Visalia put a restraining
hand on her shoulder.
Tyia's body shuddered violently, shaking. But it didn't seem
like fear or pain was causing it...
"You" She growled. "Dared to make a Fire Embodiment angry." She
screamed, wrenching her arm from the grips of it's claws. "Come
to your death then!!"
The dragon made a low rumbling noise in the back of it's throat
as she ran towards it, seeming almost amused. it's attitude
quickly changed to fear as it noticed the burning eyes and
cat-like fangs that had not been there before.
Tyia let the reasonable part of her mind fall into
unconsciousness as she attacked, forgetting she was even there.
All that mattered was subjecting this sniveling worm to a
painful death.
Aναπνοήφωτιά
screeched, tucking it's tail into a sign of surrender as Tyia
thrust her knives deep into it's chest. The blow did not kill
it, but the dragon fell down on the ground, whimpering.
The Fire faded from her eyes, her bared fangs disappearing. She
carefully withdrew the blades, kneeling down on the ground.
"I find you honorable in battle." She said. "No treachery was
committed. I claim my right to a share your power."
Aναπνοήφωτιά
growled in it's unintelligible language, reluctantly letting her
touch it's scales. A stream of bright orange light passed
between them, gradually darkening to blackened copper. The faint
mirage-like image of a darker dragon flickered behind Tyia,
blinking rapidly before disappearing.
Chapter Five
Nirralia immediately took off, her grandfather's restraining
arms falling to his sides. Aeia grabbed onto her inviting hands,
trying not to look down as the Air Embodiment soared into the
sky. Nirralia landed on the ground, hurriedly examining Tyia's
arm.
"Oh, oh no!" Nirralia cried. "Tyia, you get hurt so much, I
don't know if I should be worried or not, but..."
Aeia took a closer look. "Nirralia." She gasped. "That is
something to worry about."
Her arm was bent so much it was hard to believe that it was
physically possible, blood seeping from the places where the
dragon's scales had cut into the skin. Aeia looked at Visalia,
who had just arrived. "Are there any bandages we could use?" She
asked frantically.
Tyia gritted her teeth. "I'm. Fine. Besides, you're- from
another time period. A broken arm isn't- as serious now."
Visalia frowned. "Tyia, you still need our help. And of course
we brought medical supplies." She said, turning to Aeia. "A
human and a dragon fighting...there are going to be injuries."
Visalia reached over her shoulder, grabbing the backpack she'd
brought along. The Earth Elemental unzipped it, reaching for a
first aid kit that contained antibiotics, medicine and the like.
"We don't have a cast." Visalia continued, wrapping up her arm
with bandages. "So you're going to have to make do with these
for now."
Tyia winced, clenching her fists.
Nirralia paced around, walking a foot above the ground. "Is she
going to be all right?" She asked anxiously.
Aeia turned to her. "I know very little of your century- my year
was 1729 before I left it. What year is it here?"
Nirralia distractedly mentioned a date, worried eyes still
focused on Tyia while Aeia's eyes widened in surprise. "But-
that is-!" She sat down, shaking her head in disbelief. Tyia
managed to snicker, flinching again as Visalia made a point of
tightening her tourniquet.
"Well, that should work." Visalia said slowly. "And Aeia, get
up."
