       Sokoto farmers to get N1.6bn loan

       Sokoto State Government on Wednesday said it would disburse N1.6
       billion agricultural loans to farmers in the state.
       The commissioner for solid minerals in the state, Dahiru
       Maishanu, said this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the
       state executive council meeting.
       The commissioner said the state government would provide N512
       million, while Zenith Bank Plc would provided the balance.
       "The loan facility was approved by the council and it will be
       distributed to rice and tomato farmers in the 23 local
       government areas ofthe state.’’
       The commissioner said the gesture was aimed at encouraging more
       farmers to produce more food for both local consumption and
       export.
       Similarly, the state government has approved the tarring of the
       road networks and parking spaces at the Usman Faruk Secretariat
       at the cost of N225.6 million.
       Ahmed Aliyu, the Commissioner for Health saidthe council also
       approved thereconstruction of the 1.5 kilometre Unguwar
       Rogo-Police Station-Minanata-Tudunwada road at the cost of
       N154.96 million.
       Aliyu said the council had approved the construction ofnew
       General Hospitals in Kware and Dange/Shuni localgovernment areas
       at the costof N172.26 million each.
