How to make PNG in photoshop?

How do I make part of an image turn into empty space so it can
be used as a PNG? Did I explain that well?

Ok so select that magic wand tool you got in your toolbar then
click in the space you want to make transparent for example the
white background on this image.

If the selection starts to bleed into areas you don't want it or
it selects too much just adjust the tolerance and select it
again.

When you have the selection the way you want it just hit the
delete key on your keyboard to delete the selected area

Also delete the white background on the photoshop document if
that layer is still there

Now your image should have a checker pattern where you deleted
your selection.

Now you just have to save it as a .PNG are your all good.

What about making some of it transparent? Is there a way of
doing that?

If you hold your mouse down on the magic wand tool the other
tool is like the magic wand but it works more like a brush
