Figging

According to the literature relating to domestic houses in
Victorian times, errant or sloppy servants were often given the
cane when their services fell short. With employment being
essential and often facing limited local employment opportunity,
these servants had to face the cane as a more attractive
prospect than being sacked which could lead to the path of the
workhouse.
As a preparation for caning, figging took place. Now the idea of
"figging" was to prevent the naughty maids from clenching their
buttocks in a bid to make the caning less painful. Also,
clenching the buttocks was seen as a sign of resistance so it
did not go down well. The way to prevent clenching of the
buttocks during caning (I would not know how to do this!) was to
stuff a stick of ginger in the anal passage.
The theory was that any clenching of the buttocks would result
in pressure on the plug of root ginger which would then result
in a release of the ginger which was not an altogether pleasant
sensation - a sort of hot effect as associated with having eaten
a very hot curry.
The practice of figging is a very old one and not widely used
nowadays but some pro domes are offering this and Mistress
Adara, London, is one such. Has anyone ever tried figging? Has
anyone ever tried clenching the buttocks to minimise or reduce
the painful effect of the cane.
Who is volunteering to give this a go? If no one volunteers,
then I suggest that we should have a poll survey with voting
buttons and the one with the most votes gets "figging" rather
than "figs" at Christmas time! Any thoughts?

"Ring Sting" - blimey! that is a new one on me!
I had to look this one up on Google.
Never heard of the term but there again, I am an old fashioned
sort of chap!
Has anyone ever tried this "figging"? We will need a willing
volunteer - is anyone volunteering to stuff it in position?
Apparently it must be done without lubricant and with a pre
carved lip to ensure it stays in place.
When it comes to extracting the whole piece of root ginger, this
is not a problem in 90% of cases but in a few cases you might
have to wait for a call of nature before you get it out. :)) Who
is volunteering cos otherwise it will have to be decided by the
poll voting. Come on! It is all in the name of science and we
want first hand experience reports on here - not just Victorian
anecdotes! One volunteer required for "figging" followed by
caning. Good standard of English required by the volunteer as
must be able to write clear, succinct and concise reports after
the event. ("Concise" - that rules me out! I am off the hook! ).

Oh, I'm ruled out on medical grounds. Hmm, there must be people
who like it.... Grant seems very knowledgable, maybe he could be
the guinea pig! Not sure about the event but he would write a
detailed review.

OK, Krystal, we will accept that you are ruled out from the
"figging" on medcal grounds.
However, you did say that you are "pretty handy with the cane"
so we will pencil you in for that part.
All that is needed now, is a willing volunteer for the
"figging".
We don't know who will be nominated or selected via the poll in
the absence of a volunteer, so may I suggest that everyone
should start practising "clenching their buttocks". :)) I spent
extra time in the closet this morning whilst others were
waiting. When questioned as to why I had taken so long, I
explained that I had been practising clenching my buttocks. I
did not go into further detail and I think that the general
belief in my home is that I am on some sort of body toning
programme! :-X Make sure that no-one on this site tells my
family anything different, please. ;)
As Krystal says, we will see what Grant has to say about all
this! Do we have any new members who have perhaps experienced
"figging"?

I once required a lady who was being brought to me to be fitted
with a root ginger Butt plug, freshly carved and inserted before
the cut surface had a chance to skin over and become dry.
Her partner did the deed and managed without lubrication as the
plug was not too big, but certainly large enough to be gripped
by the sphincter.
This was done at the start of her car journey of 3 hours. The
only break from the sitting position was for a natural break. On
returning to the vehicle she was examined to make sure that
everything was in place and the journey resumed.
On her arrival, she was taken to the bathroom where the plug was
removed and she was washed and dried before a freshly shaped
ginger plug was fitted. All this was quite a torment for her,
especially as she knew why she was visiting me. Her relief of
having the plug removed and the careful ablution was immense, so
the re insertion was traumatic, especially as she had to watch
its preparation, and realising it was for discomfort to start
all over again.
She was the led into the room where the rest of her tribulations
were to take place, her now cold and slightly damp bottom and
thighs, shivering with fear and anticipation for what may happen
to her. Her mind stumbling over what might lay ahead of her, the
realisation that she knew it would be painful, but she wanted it
to happen.
Then she saw the implements, assembled in an orderly row,
starting from the left with light and swishy and progressing
down the line to hard and heavy to long and deadly.
Her heart started to race, the blood started to roar in her ears
and her stomach and bottom clenched in fear, were all those for
her? She could never cope with all of those, were they going to
give her all of them?
They were going to kill her and nobody knew she was here. Her
body would be found, a mass of blood and contusions covering her
whole body, unrecognisable, lying in a shallow grave somewhere
on the moors.
She began to panic and looked around for the door. It had been
shut and there was a man standing with his back against it, his
arms folded, with a long whip hanging from his wrist, a sadistic
smirk on his tanned face, looking back at her. Her knees went
weak and she though she was going to faint, when a quiet voice
whispered into her ear, are you alright Darling, shall we
start?????

Oh, Help!!!
You have given me nightmares, Grant.
This is written with as much imagination and flair as the
spanking stories from our much esteemed new member!
I am dashing off to Torquay now but am glad that I read this now
and not immediately prior to going to bed last
- I would not have slept a wink. Did you know that on another
thread, Krystal has nominated me to be the victim in our
"scientific trial" - thus far, all my appeals to Krystal's
kinder nature have failed and I was over presumptive in assuming
that I was sufficiently in her good books not to be selected.
Alas, to date, no one has volunteered to take my place in the
"figging experiment".
The problem we have (or at least, I have!!!) is that who else is
going to volunteer to take my place in the experiment now that
you have terrified us all by writing this, Grant!!! Oh, crikes -
it gets worse! :)) :))
Really it should involve two canings (hopefully not on the same
day!) so that the effect can be compared both with and without
the figging root but may I suggest that we only apply the full
rigour of the scientific experiment if we find someone other
than me to be the "willing victim". Hopefully, everyone will
agree with this bit as two canings in the name of science would
be a bit much :))

You probably might have got the impression by now that I will
not be presenting my bottom for any of this malarkey, but I will
assist with any carving and implement wielding. ;)

Thank you, Grant, for your role and advice as "technical
assistant" if not being willing to act as the "willing
volunteer".
Krystal tells us that she is pretty handy with the cane so help
might be more needed in the carving and stuffing it in place -
especially if as tight a fit as you describe in your little
account earlier in the thread. The ginger root has to be
inserted without lubricant, according to everything I have read!
A bit more detail includes the fact that sensation is heightened
even more if the ginger is purchased in advance and fermented.
How the heck would one do that? Yes, "malarkey" is a good word
to describe all this. I think that all might best be deferred
until we get the drinks flowing at our Christmas party - where
is this going to be held? :))
