       Cane, but not paddle?

Having assisted in the making of several spanking movies and
attended some parties, it's clear most girls who act as the
'schoolgirl' are perfectly happy to be caned quite realistically
but are very reluctant to consider the US style paddle. Yet the
cane can be most 'effective' with even moderate force while the
paddle would surely be excessively painful only if it were
applied with some force. So, why the reluctance to take the
       paddle?

Hmm, strange one. I've never actually heard of someone happy to
take the cane but not the paddle. I'd be quite interested to see
       why this would be.

       It's strange.
One would think that the paddle, having a larger surface area,
would spread out the point of impact and be less painful.

No, the paddle strikes the larger area creating more surface
sting. The cane after all, lands in a thin long line. Also, the
paddle if used badly, can give deep subcutaneous bruising which
will make the bottom very tender for many days after, thus
making it difficult for the Bottom to take much when played with
       in a later session.
The fairly narrow cricket bat style paddle is often heavier and
is more likely to cause deep bruising if used with force. Try to
use one which is fairly light and covers both cheeks and about
the width of a ladies hand. The nicer ones can be varnished and
stingy on one side with the other having a layer of soft suede
covering it which can provide an alternative play from ouch to
       ooowh??
I have one which resembles a cheese board which is fairly light
so I am able to give a fairly good swing which makes a lot of
noise and as it hits a larger surface and will sting a lot, but
there is no bruising. I will usually only provide 4 strikes with
this as the recipient usually finds this to be quite enough.

       Interesting thoughts, Grant.
I originally made two paddles, one with a blade about 2ft by 6
ins and a good half inch thick, the other 18 ins by 4 ins but
thinner. Both were borrowed and never returned. Meanwhile I've
acquired a couple as gifts (because they weren't liked or
wanted!) which are pretty similar to the second one I made, ie
having a blade around 18 ins by 4 ins and less than half an inch
       thick.
Thinking of your 'cheese board' reminds me of a music teacher
when I was at school who used what he called a key board (the
type for hanging keys on - this was the 1960s!) which was about
the size of a small cheese board and half an inch thick or so.
It made a lot of noise when a boy was whacked but didn't seem
any more painful than the average slipper.

Being from the USA I can attest to the paddle being a feared
implement. I can cause severe deep bruising. But I still imagine
the for initial pain the cane would be more effective. The
paddle does burn the bottom but does cause numbness after a
       while. :'(

I have watched the Video of Dallas paddling Britain with
Danielle as his victim. He used what he calls "vitamin E oil" on
her bottom. What this appears to do is to form a glue like
surface on the skin, so that after the paddle has made a good
surface contact, the air has been excluded and therefore forms a
       vacuum.
The paddle then leaves the skin surface with a sucking, dragging
action and after continued beating allows the top surface of
skin to be stripped off, therefore leaving a more sensitive
surface underneath. Not clever in my books.
I played with Danielle not long after her return from the States
and I could see the difference in skin surface and she was a lot
more tender. I have known her to be a fairly tough cookie, and
on this occasion she found our session to be very demanding and
I had to be aware of her reactions and treat her accordingly.
So paddle users beware and receivers also. If you want a
different sensation, then spray just water between the strikes,
but nothing more viscous than that unless you are a vicious
person who wants to do damage to a passing player who you wont
       get to play with again!!
But you could be a kind player and cover one side with a nice
soft fabric or suede, just to take the sting out of each stroke
and then throw a few stingy smooth sided ones in between!

I have had sessions where guys have used a paddle one side
covered with soft material and the other left just leather, the
sensation is totally different. A 2 in 1 implement, one side
makes the slappy noise and the other a thud.

I have not given a caning punishment that has drawn blood or
left severe bruising. Do we need to draw a line between real
pain freaks and those wanting token pleasure pain and control?
The noise of paddles or clappers can make a punishment sound
quite severe. Videos I have seen suggest there might be more
power in a severe paddling - often the bottom is lifted as part
       of the stroke.
The weight and inertia of the paddle when applied forcibly
causes bruising over a large area. Read some time ago that
frequent paddling can cause permanent damage and numbness.
In checking this I see that there are reported cases of severe
paddling causing kidney damage. Don't think this happens with
       severe canings
