Semantically challenged

Forum open less than a day and already useful point raised about
terms to describe the role of spanker and spankee.
For the one doing the spanking, "Dom" is not right as it is more
of BDSM word. "Top" has been suggested but I think it's too
simple a word to use. "Spanker" is semantically 100% but lacks
any passion.
Incidentally, "Switch" as used in its usual context is just
fine.
For the one being spanked, "Sub" is, again, too BDSM. "Bottom"
has been suggested but is a word already pretty busy to begin
with. "Spankee" describes it nicely but is not quite 'right'.
Any suggestions?

Good points made and yes, we do want to keep away from the domme
bit (at least those of us who shy away from utter domination and
humiliation). It is not easy but "topping" and "bottoming" are
not too bad, I think in conveying meaning and prefer
"bottoming" (which describes the role) as opposed to "bottom"
which being a noun refers more to the vulnerable area if you get
my drift.
Switch is OK but this is fine for those who can adopt either
role. For those of us scaredy cats who are not bold enough to
switch, (not yet anyway!) we have to be labelled as one or the
other I guess and sub is not overly flattering. I don't really
mind the term "bottoming" cos it is a role I adopt whereas sub
might be taken as what I am and in real life, I am not
submissive. Have to stick with these terms unless someone can
come up with better.

Lead or "leader" does not sound too bad. I don't object to this.
What about "under -player" for the bottom player? Does not
sound too derogatory and this acknowledges that the sub does
have a role to play?
