Safe Words

This came up in another thread.
As the one wielding the cane, I just ask that my own first name
be used. It's never going to be used in a roleplay as I won't be
me!
What do other people use?
Tip!
"Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch" is
not a good choice.

Does the Red (meaning stop) Orange (meaning OK for now) or Green
(Step it up a bit) work well as a system>
I have heard of this method but not sure if it works in
practice!

Would you want to use the actual words Red/Orange/Green?
Or some other words more in context?
Trouble then might be remembering which one corresponds to
which!

I tend not to use a safe word but I know they are there if I
need them. Usually guys ask, is it too hard and slow down if it
is

A few pro's operate without a "safeword" and Mistress Spiteful -
a long way from us in terms of Geography states on her site that
she does not give out "safe words" because her experience is
that nine times out of ten after the safe word has been used,
the person receiving the punishment will go away at the end of
the session bitterly regretting what they see as their failure
to last out and take it. She reckons that her own observation,
after so many years experience, is a good enough safety device
and for that reason, she will not issue safe words.
I pass this info on as "food for thought" and not necessarily
because I agree with it. I can see what she is saying but I am
not sure about this!
As Krystal says, she lets the "top" know when it is too hard or
excessive but the macho men do like to see just how much they
can take.
I only looked up Mistress Spiteful because another dome
recommended her but I do remember reading this on her pages.

Anyone who tries to take the piss and do it excessively is out
the door, never to return!

Don't she say it so nice, proper lady our Krystal.
She is right though, dammit.
I have never had anyone use a safe word with me which I am happy
to say, because I hope that I am observant and understanding and
reading the situation properly so the need for a desperate safe
word shout doesn't happen.

That's really interesting, Grant, so really you are in agreement
with Mistress Spiteful who says there should really be no need
for "safe words" especially when observant, fully competent and
experienced players are "topping". Goodness knows why we read so
much about safe words if this is the case - all part of the
modern day health & safety culture, I guess. Perhaps I should
have a safe word in case my belt fails and trousers fall down in
the street. The other half could then alert me to a situation
that might otherwise have escaped my attention - senility
setting in a bit now, you understand! :))

I would still suggest that a safe word is a good idea.
It's a bit like the spare tyre in the car.
Having it on board does not affect one's driving but one is sure
glad to have it around when needed.

Yes, Andy, I guess that is what Krystal is really saying as
well. Just have the "safe word" there in the same way that you
have the spare tyre in the car boot and then go enjoy your
picnic without even worrying about the "spare tyre". Hopefully,
never need it and especially so when in a trusting relationship.
I can see why a switch would need it cos someone that you don't
know might just get carried away to satisfy there own
gratification. My answer as a bottom/under-player, is to only
session with someone whom you know, respect and trust and then
you know that the pro will look after you. Let's face it, the
pro can see the effect that "play" is having and they know
instinctively how far to push it. I go with your view, though,
but this without undermining the pro!
