Is Spanking too expensive?
There must be a massively unsatisfied market given that many who
would wish to avail themselves of such services simply cannot
afford it.
Switches & CP specialists tend to be cheaper that dommes but
spanking seems to be largely centred on the large urban
conurbations: London & Manchester. There are huge desert areas
where neither CP specialists nor switches can be found, leaving
only a few pro dommes who are beyond the pockets of many.

An interesting thread, Slowcoach.
I presume the rates charged by the supplier of the service have
been determined by market forces, as in any business. Charge
too much, and nobody wants the service, so you find a rate where
you get a reasonable income for the time you put in. Charge too
little and you could find yourself working too hard for little
extra money. In many areas, there is not a large number of
suppliers for the number of customers, so the suppliers drive
the market. Increase the number of suppliers, and the rates
would probably drop. Here's an idea, make cp services/domme
work/escorting a college course and increase the number of
suppliers!
The large conurbations you mentioned (I'd include Birmingham and
West Yorkshire, too) are probably not cheaper because there is a
greater number of customers. Presumably, some dommes have to
charge more because of the expensive furniture - crosses and
whipping benches don't come cheap!
Then again, rates do vary widely, and my limited knowledge of
economics cannot explain why.

Thanks, Jon, I have more thoughts on the subject - you know me,
never short of thoughts! :)) But really must go now cos wife is
waiting and not looking pleased that her chauffeur is delayed
:))
We will see what others have to say and then I will come in
again - rates seem to vary from £80 per hour to £300 per hour -
has anyone found dearer or cheaper than this range? I love the
NVQ bit and I will train to be an assessor, of course. The only
problem with being an assessor is that one must sample the
product - OUCH >:D

I haven not seen cheaper than £80 in fact I have not seen £80,
the cheapest I have seen is £90 (nina). My charges are are the
low side but I don't see the point in over charging for the
service, I suppose most girls view it as.... if a man wants it
enough he will pay whatever I charge.

Oh, they are about at £80 per hour (Clara - top notch and very
experienced); Christine Reilly; Paige Bailey and others!
I am not sure how the girls that Krystal refers to view it but
if they think that people will pay whatever is asked, then they
are missing out on much potential trade. Let's face it, people
cannot pay beyond their pockets and food on the table and shoes
for the kids will (or certainly should) come first.
It may be better to have a full or fullish book of clients at
£80 per hour as opposed to half a book of clients at higher
prices. The pro dommes can with some justification point to all
the expensive equipment that they purchase as part of their BDSM
service so maybe there is justification for them charging a
little more. The escorts who offer spanking tend to be expensive
but it is well known that often there "may be" a bit more on
offer than just spanking!
I know several folk who tell me that they are sessioning less
frequently due to high tributes which are often but not always
associated with London or some other major city. Attending
munches and parties is all about getting known and much
marketing is needed to command high fees. There are some who
just want to work quietly and without having their names blazed
around everywhere - these include many gems and unsung heroes.
They are often no less good (sometimes better) than their much
touted counterparts but at half the price if you look carefully!
As with most things in life, paying through the nose does not
always guarantee the best product!

Not everybody is so hard-nosed (in this or any other business)
and I'm sure that several charge what they consider a fair rate
even if it below what the market might take.
I do similar in my own (very non-spanking) business - which is
possibly why I can't afford to give as many spanking as I might
wish!

Market forces do play a part - no one could deny this but there
is much more to it than this.
Linking CP to sex, eroticism and nudity has been found to be the
way to inflate the tribute and to gain more business.
I am not saying that I admire this aspect - very far from it in
fact and to be honest, it makes me feel sad.
We have "decent" (sorry, that is a judgemental word) switches
and CP specialists who are in some cases not willing to strip
off to bare nudity
and who wish to retain something of their dignity and self
esteem, yet they do not command anything like the same tribute
that can be gained by those who exploit the sex angle to its
full.
On another site, I saw a client lamenting that pretty much all
dommes and disciplinarians dress much the same using the
currently fashionable latex or rubber. Well, this chap asked why
some of them don't wear jackets etc. It is pretty obvious really
and I am aware of one top London domme who bucks the trend and
never wears rubber or latex. She wears her Armani jacket (for
five minutes, at least!) and then out comes the cane, off comes
the jacket to reveal her luxurious lingerie. This, I suggest, is
why she is able to command such a high tribute and have a
waiting list of customers.
To restore Andy's faith in human nature, yes, it is true that
not everyone is like this. The legendary Miss Monroe (now
departed the scene for modelling) was always ready to
justifiably criticise dommes for their greed - this to include
financial domination etc. Mistress Rose, Farnborough won't touch
financial domination and Adara in north London is said to have a
fantastic array of expensive BDSM equipment yet her London
tribute is £100 per hour so there are a few whose principles
stand out head and shoulders above the greedy majority.
