time wasters and no shows

I wonder if these are the sort of people that cost the NHS so
much money and time when they fail to turn up for their
appointments.
As you might guess, I had a no show today, despite constant
emails, instructions and phone numbers.
Spent time and effort on the emails, getting the environment
right for the session and set aside time when there are many
other things that need my attention.
I would like to think that all those sensible and polite people
on this site don't fall into the above category, but there are
others who do look at this site and if anybody thinks that they
might let down the person that they are booked to see, lets hope
they have the decency and courtesy to let them know as soon as
they can of their pending non arrival.
I know that this does happen and some people will ask for
deposits, but really, should we have to do this!!! C:-)

I had a few no shows during the first month or so of being in
the industry too and it's a complete pain in the butt.
Trevor was constantly calling for sessions and not showing up,
not just with me but with other girls too. Eventually he was
told not to contact me again although he did one more time using
another phone. At that point I told him that if he contacted me
again then I would inform the police. finally he stopped
calling.

Ah, I understand now.
Yes, can appreciate that it must be extremely annoying - also
costly if one has turned down another client.
Not sure what one can do though.
Maybe your 'Trevor', Krystal, was somebody who just got a cheap
thrill from booking and fantasising about a session without the
effort and cost of actually turning up.
Interesting topic but I'll move it into General Discussion if
that's OK.

Trevor was a complete tosser. He only visited once and made at

I was once a teacher and parents do that. They book an
appointment which they say sis urgent and so you hang around at
their convenience as alt as 9/10pm and guess what...they don't
come. Hairdressers get it as well.

Too many people seem to think that they are more important than
others, and that their time is more valuable. Also, calling to
apologise would be a weakness in their eyes. I can't bear
arrogant people! >:(

It certainly does apply to other areas and pretty much
everything. Yes, hairdressers get it all the time including 2-3
hr slots booked got expensive perms. I agree that everyone
should be much more responsible and I hate the deposit thing for
anything cos it sort of implies that you cannot be trusted. No
easy answers, though!

Interesting responses, thank you. I guess we keep soldiering on.
I know there are a few people in our field who will only work
with a deposit, and they seem to make it work. Cant be sure how
much new business they get though.
Probably a reasonable method for when meeting new clients, as
one expects second time or regulars to behave better.

I agree that it's reasonable for new clients, though a minor
inconvenience for those who wouldn't dream of being a no-show.
It's not difficult to either use online banking or, anonymously,
deposit cash and a paying-in slip at a bank. Just needs a bit
of effort in the days before the booking.
