Not in Public!?!

What's one food that you refuse to eat in public? As for me, I
will not eat a banana in public under any circumstances. No.
Nope. Negative. Ain't gonna happen.

I'm not sure I have food that I can't eat in public, but I'll
tell you a funny story.
My Australian friend hated of Japanese eating noddles. Japanese
can suck noddles and it makes sound. According to him, the
sounds like runny nose. Yes, it is. He complains that Japanese
make sounds even eating spaghetti. I was always nervous when I
eat something in front of him. I cast a spell for him in my
mind, "Go back to your country" but it didn't work.
One day we had spaghetti in his house with his family, my
tension was reaching the max and I was all ears. Surprisingly I
clearly heard his Japanese wife was sucking it and made sound!
He didn't say anything and his face looked like a iron mask. No
expression. haha!
They went to back to their country and have lived happily. I'm
sure he sometimes has to hear the sound from his wife.

It would be ice cream with a cone. I didn't know it until
my western friend told me that it could somehow arouse perverts'
dirty imagination, even though I didn't lick it. Since then on,
I always asked a small spoon to scoop it.

Chizuko, you should teach me how to slurp ramen. I had
disappointed my Japanese classmates for making the noise
unsuccessfully. I like the sound, it makes the ramen even
tastier.

haha! Tercia. Do you like the sound? It's rare! You are familiar
to Japanese sense. Most of Japanese think the sound makes noodle
tastier. Totally different habit from the outsiders Japan. But I
think if Japanese eat something in foreign countries they should
be careful. Most of foreigners, westerners don't make sound when
eating. It's super silent. It's their manner. That's why your
classmate didn't make sound deliberately, I guess.

A girl who is from a common family. The girl had a friend from
high class, very rich family. They are just innocent 7 years
old. The girl wonders that her friend eats a banana with a
spoon, while she bites, peeling yellow skin like a chimpanzee
does. Then she asked. The friend answered, "I don't know. My
mother forces me to eat with a spoon."
When the girl became an adult and got to know the reason, she
recalled her friend's answer. She realized that the rich high
class mother imaged when she saw her children eating banana in
that way.
She is wondering, "Isn't the mother's idea itself dirty?"

bananas in public?
Are you afraid of someone thinks you are a chimpanzee? You were.
Now you transformed well even though with beard brain, you look
like a human.

Homophobia? No, I'm not afraid of homosexuals. I suppose that's
how you are defining the word.
Homo = genus of hominids that includes modern man phobia =
fear. This would be fear of humans. Nope, neither applies to me.

I think I have very little self-awareness when it comes to
eating in public. I'm talking about the visual side of eating,
obviously, I'd like to think that I have noises under control. I
used to work in a second-hand bookshop. We would usually sit in
a room located at the back of the shop where the computers were.
It was partly hidden from the customers' view but they had
access to the room and also could see us in the mirror. My
colleague who worked at the till once came up to me and asked if
I could not lick the lid of the yoghurt pot (something I do
automatically). I apologised and asked if someone had
complained. She said "no, but I saw some guys staring at you".
