If we don't realize there are exceptions to the 'i before e,
except after c' rule and misspell a word like feisty as fiesty,
for example, could we call that a vowel movement?
What if you have a lot of vowel movements, should you have an
exam? Or only if it gets to be painful?

I think you should because it could turn into a full-blown
irritable vowel syndrome.

What about the Great Vowel Shift? That was a VM that lasted 300
years.
It was a relief when that was over, I can tell you.

I give it the space of time it takes me to read a Reader's
Digest article. If the movement isn't finished by then I take a
metamucil.
