Pronunciation of "issue"

Do you say /íshoo/? Or /iss-you/?

In IPA its ˈɪʃu I´d say that your /ishoo/ is
the one.
I went to check it with this site, because for some words the
British is different than the American.

On that site you choose whether you
want the IPA for the way it´s pronounced in British English or
American English, and you can also listen to the pronunciation
of most words.
The Mimic Method uses songs to work on pronunciation. With one
of my partners who now is a professional teacher, we used the
Mimic Method with each other. With English, you can take the
text of a song and use this site to get the IPA phonics, and
then practice with the song this way instead of using the
lyrics. I never found a site in Spanish that would work with
large amounts of text like a whole song, but with one teacher I
did a few songs and we sang together. The regular English lyrics
can work against you in pronunciation, but working with the
lyrics in IPA both helps to learn the IPA and helps you focus on
the sounds instead of the meaning when working with
pronunciation.

In my first comment, I had not noticed your note of the places
in the video where he said ¨issue.¨ He does pronounce it a bit
differently than I do. On that site I referenced when I
listened to the British example she also seemed to draw out the
oooo sound on the end, without making it as clear that the
stress is on the first syllable as I think most Americans would
do. However, the site still indicated the British and American
pronunciation should be the same in this one. I guess with the
many dialects of British and American English it should not be
too surprising that the official IPA might not always be
followed.

It gives you an idea of the state of "Great" Britain when they
can't even properly pronounce a language they themselves
invented.

Thank you, Neal, and Susan for your very detailed answer. I
might not have found it worth asking if a) it hadn't been a
video about teaching pronunciation, of all things, and if b) the
guy didn't otherwise speak such impeccable RP.
Now, if one or both of you had voted for /iss-you/, I'd have had
the inner satisfaction of knowing he was a fake. ;)

I think I've heard [ɪsju] before, but I wouldn't say it's
very common. It might just be in RP that it's pronounced like
that, but the vast majority of people in Britain say
[ɪʃu].

Yeah, I think Stewie from the Family Guy says "'ısju". He's
a pretentious, intellectually overdeveloped cartoon toddler...
Also, Sherlock Holmes. Apart from those two, I have never heard
anyone pronounce it that way.
Still, this is what my Polish-English dictionary says: issue
/'ı∫u, 'ısju/.

checked more carefully - Oxford also offers both forms. :-[

I agree with Coligno. The headteacher in one of the schools I
worked in used to say it that way. She was British, but
desperately trying to sound posh and conceal her real accent. My
colleague brought it to my attention, otherwise I wouldn't have
known. Makes me wonder if this guy could be doing it for the
same reason.

For what it`s worth, in the US „issue“ is pronounced with a
short „i“ sound, although I recall a guy from Ohio saying it
once with a long i, so it sounded like „ie“-shoooo, which is not
how I say it. So, not being familiar with the phonetic
spellings, I just say short sounding i, followed by „shoe“. I
suppose that´s close.
The Brits sound a bit different and I`m sure Coligno is correct
in his comments about the ss sound not having as heavy a sch
sound to it, I suppose?
